Tue May 6 201416:28Kam Chancellor recovering from hip surgery
Seahawks SS Kam Chancellor is recovering from hip surgery, and "hopes" to be ready for the preseason.
ESPN's John Clayton reported in March that Chancellor was expected to go under the knife, but it's unclear when the operation took place. According to NFL.com's Ian Rapoport, "nothing is certain" regarding Chancellor's timeline. A second-team All Pro last season, Chancellor has missed only one game in four years. It's possible he could sit out the entire exhibition season before being ready for Week 1.

Tue Mar 25 201419:42Report: Chancellor needs 'minor' hip surgery
ESPN's John Clayton reports Seahawks SS Kam Chancellor is slated to undergo "minor" hip surgery.
Per Clayton, a date has yet to be set, suggesting the operation is truly minor. The play-making safety dealt with hip issues down the stretch last season, but never missed a game. Chancellor was one of the stars of Seattle's Super Bowl win. The hip is one of the trickier areas of the body for a football player, but it doesn't appear that Chancellor's 2014 availability is in any way in question.

Thu Jan 31 201301:23Chancellor sparks escalator for 2013 pay bump
Seahawks SS Kam Chancellor's 2013 base salary increased from $575,000 to $1.323 million after he hit escalators in his rookie deal.
Chancellor has appeared in 47 of a possible 48 games to start his career, and he's known as a hard-hitting safety that isn't afraid to lay a receiver out. 2011 was his best season, as he posted 97 tackles, 13 passes defensed, four interceptions, and two forced fumbles. Chancellor recently underwent surgery on his lower right leg, but he should be ready for training camp. Seattle could look to try and lock him up this offseason.

Thu Jan 17 201315:22Seahawks SS Chancellor undergoes surgery
Seahawks SS Kam Chancellor underwent surgery Thursday on his lower right leg.
The specifics aren't in yet. Chancellor tweeted a picture of his foot in a cast, adding, "Surgery is finally over and I feel like crap." It's not clear if the injury occurred in the season-ending loss to Atlanta, or if Chancellor had been playing through pain. He led the Seahawks defense in snaps played this season.

Wed Apr 25 201212:20Seahawks not moving Chancellor to LB
Seahawks GM John Schneider laughed off reports that SS Kam Chancellor could be moved to linebacker this year.
"We usually try not to move Pro Bowl players to different positions," said Schneider. Although he's a box safety, moving to linebacker in nickel packages, Chancellor held his own in coverage last year. He graded out as Pro Football Focus' fifth-rated safety in his first season as a starter.

Mon Nov 14 201111:07Chancellor officially diagnosed w/ concussion
Seahawks SS Kam Chancellor's "head" injury has been diagnosed as a concussion.
As expected. With 55 tackles, three interceptions and a sack, Chancellor is in the middle of a big season. His backup Atari Bigby was also hurt on Sunday, so the Seahawks could be forced to go with Chris Maragos or Jeron Johnson at strong safety against the Rams.

Sun Nov 13 201119:27Kam Chancellor done for the day
Seahawks SS Kam Chancellor (head) is done for Sunday's game.
We're assuming it's a concussion, which could make it as many as three (also potentially Doug Baldwin, Sidney Rice) Seahawks concussed in Week 10. Chancellor has been an enforcer at strong safety this season, and better than expected in coverage. His backup, Atari Bigby, was also injured Sunday.

Fri Sep 30 201116:22Kam Chancellor listed as doubtful for Week 4
Seahawks SS Kam Chancellor is listed as doubtful for Week 4 due to a "deep thigh bruise."
Rookie Jeron Johnson may make his first career start. Chancellor had begun the year in breakout fashion, racking up eight tackles per game with two turnovers caused in the first three weeks. Pro Football Focus has also graded Chancellor as a top-five safety in coverage. The Falcons get a nice matchup boost.

Tue Aug 2 201114:52Chancellor running as starting strong safety
Kam Chancellor is working as the Seahawks' starting strong safety in training camp.
Coach Pete Carroll has left open the door for Lawyer Milloy to be re-signed, but the Seahawks' offseason philosophy hasn't been to keep aging veterans who "block" youngsters. We appreciate that. At 6'3/232, Chancellor was projected as a linebacker by many teams leading up to the 2010 draft. Milloy had 88 tackles last season, so this can be a highly productive position.

Tue Oct 5 201012:58Chancellor to see more reps with starters
Seahawks coach Pete Carroll said that rookie S Kam Chancellor will see more reps with the starting unit during the team's bye week practices.
The coach wants to lighten the load on veteran Lawyer Milloy. A fifth-round pick, Chancellor has two tackles and a forced fumble so far this season.

Wed Jun 2 201019:23Seahawks sign Kam Chancellor
Seahawks signed fifth-round S Kam Chancellor to a four-year contract worth up to $2.83 million.
Chancellor looks a lot like Taylor Mays in terms of build, but was projected by some NFL teams prior to the draft as a linebacker due to less than ideal speed and agility. In Seattle, he'll compete for a spot on special teams.

Sat Apr 24 201012:05Seahawks draft Kam Chancellor
Seahawks selected Virginia Tech S Kam Chancellor with the No. 133 overall pick in the 2010 NFL Draft.
Adding insult to Taylor Mays' mental injury, Chancellor is a spitting in-uniform image of the former USC All-American at 6-foot-3, 232. Chancellor doesn't have Mays' straight-line speed, but was similarly weak in terms of big-play production, failing to force a single fumble as a senior and intercepting just six career passes. He may be moved to weak-side linebacker in Seattle's 3-4, or be used as a strict "in the box" strong safety.
