Fri Mar 22 201303:11Daniel Thomas will be on the spot in camp
Dolphins coach Joe Philbin indicated that third-year RB Daniel Thomas will be on the spot in 2013 training camp.
The 62nd pick in the 2011 draft, Thomas has looked no better than a bust through two NFL seasons. His current career YPC average stands at 3.54. Thomas must "play more consistently, eliminate the fumbles and mental errors," Philbin said. The Dolphins could afford to add to their running back stable in the draft.

Sun Jan 13 201308:14Daniel Thomas underwent knee surgery
Daniel Thomas underwent surgery to repair the knee injury that ended his season in mid-December.
The Miami Herald insists Thomas will be "fine by the spring," suggesting his surgery was a routine scope as opposed to a reconstruction. However, the Herald reports Thomas has "fallen behind" Lamar Miller "in the organization's eyes" after a fumble- and injury-prone 2012 season. If the Dolphins don't get Reggie Bush re-signed, they'll be in the market for a running back this offseason.

Wed Dec 19 201211:33Dolphins RB Thomas lands on injured reserve
Dolphins placed RB Daniel Thomas (knee) on injured reserve, ending his season.
Thomas picked up a knee injury of unknown severity in last week's win over the Jaguars. His second NFL season was up-and-down, as he managed just 3.57 YPC but still worked his way into an even timeshare with Reggie Bush in November. With Bush set to hit unrestricted free agency this offseason, Thomas has a chance to grab a stranglehold of the starter's job. He'll be battling Lamar Miller, who will close out this season as the Dolphins' change-of-pace complement.

Wed Dec 19 201209:39Dolphins considering ending Thomas' season
The Dolphins are considering placing Daniel Thomas (knee) on injured reserve.
The knee injury Thomas sustained against the Jaguars last week doesn't sound overly serious, but there are only two games left in the season. If Thomas does get shut down, the Dolphins will have a chance to get a longer look at Lamar Miller behind starter Reggie Bush.

Mon Dec 17 201210:18Daniel Thomas left with knee injury
Daniel Thomas sustained a knee injury in Sunday's Week 15 win over the Jaguars.
Thomas lasted just seven snaps before calling it a day. That left Reggie Bush with 21 carries, his second-highest total of the season and most since Week 2. The nature of Thomas' injury is unknown right now.

Sun Dec 16 201216:07Daniel Thomas gets one carry in Week 15
Daniel Thomas rushed just once for six yards in the Dolphins' Week 15 win over the Jaguars.
He played behind Lamar Miller for the second straight week. Thomas was a committee back with Reggie Bush around midseason, but he's being phased out of the offense now. We wonder if the 2011 second-round pick might be cut by the Dolphins this offseason. Thomas has no fantasy value for Week 16 versus Buffalo.

Fri Dec 14 201208:42Daniel Thomas falling behind Lamar Miller?
Dolphins RB Daniel Thomas played behind rookie Lamar Miller in Week 14 versus the 49ers.
Miller played as Reggie Bush's backup for the first three quarters, but saw only three carries. Thomas didn't appear until the fourth quarter. He's no longer worthy of a roster spot in 12- and 14-team leagues. With Bush due to hit free agency, Miller has a shot at the starting job over Thomas in 2013.

Sun Dec 9 201219:21Daniel Thomas held to three yards in Week 14
Daniel Thomas rushed twice for three yards in the Dolphins' Week 14 loss to San Francisco.
Thomas played a minimal role for the first time in weeks; he's typically pretty heavily involved as the 1B to Reggie Bush's 1A in the backfield. Bush racked up 19 touches against the Niners -- his highest total since Week 5. Thomas' role figures to be a bit bigger in future games, but he won't be a fantasy option against the Jaguars in Week 15 coming off a two-touch performance.

Sun Dec 2 201218:36Daniel Thomas plays well behind Bush
Daniel Thomas rushed five times for 10 yards and added two catches for 19 yards in the Dolphins' Week 13 loss to the Patriots.
Thomas played well behind Reggie Bush, not getting his first touch until the Dolphins' third offensive series. Over the last five weeks, Thomas is averaging just 9.4 touches per game. He's a mere stash for owners in case Bush goes down.

Wed Nov 28 201219:04Daniel Thomas nursing two minor injuries
Daniel Thomas is listed on the Week 13 injury report with knee and ankle issues, but is practicing in full.
Thomas will be fine for Sunday's game, but won't be an intriguing flex play against the Patriots' top-10 run defense. Although it's by a narrow margin, Reggie Bush remains the lead dog in Miami's backfield.

Mon Nov 26 201209:07Daniel Thomas plays on 29 snaps
Daniel Thomas played on 29 snaps in Sunday's win over the Seahawks while Reggie Bush played on 30.
Bush was flashing some of his old USC cuts, so the Dolphins stuck with him more than usual. The touch count ended up 15-11 in favor of Bush. This continues to be an even timeshare backfield with a hot-hand aspect to it. Neither Thomas nor Bush will be strong plays in Week 13 against a Patriots' defense giving up just 3.90 yards per carry.

Sun Nov 25 201217:10Daniel Thomas runs well on limited chances
Daniel Thomas rushed nine times for 60 yards with a touchdown and added an 18-yard catch in the Dolphins' Week 12 win over the Seahawks.
Thomas was really impressive coming off the bench behind Reggie Bush. He busted through arm tackles, showed excellent second effort and rarely got taken down by the first man. But with Bush also running well, there just wasn't enough work to around. It's the risk of playing a back in an even timeshare. Thomas will be a desperation play only against the Patriots in Week 13.

Fri Nov 16 201200:46Thomas out-carries Bush in Week 11 loss
Daniel Thomas rushed 12 times for 33 yards in Week 11 against the Bills.
Reggie Bush was stuck in reverse early on and couldn't get anything rolling on the ground with the offensive line generating no push. Thomas came in and handled the fourth offensive series, but that is standard for Miami's offense to let Thomas get his cut. The two backs will likely continue to share work, but Thomas isn't a fantasy option against the Seahawks in Week 12.

Sun Nov 11 201217:30Daniel Thomas takes over for Bush
Daniel Thomas rushed five times for 21 yards and added five catches for 34 yards in the Dolphins' Week 10 loss to the Titans.
Thomas came off the bench behind Reggie Bush early on. But after Bush carelessly lost a fumble on the Dolphins' second drive, Thomas was the feature back. He was only spelled briefly by Lamar Miller. This will mark the third straight game that Thomas has played more snaps than Bush as his stock continues to rise. Keep an eye on Bush's standing with coaches as the Dolphins get set to play in Buffalo Week 11.

Sun Nov 4 201217:44Daniel Thomas totals 62 yards in Week 9
Daniel Thomas rushed six times for 37 yards and added two receptions for 25 yards in Week 9 versus the Colts.
Thomas continues to eat into Reggie Bush's workload without gaining reliable fantasy value of his own. He doesn't share Bush's playmaking ability, so he's heavily reliant on goal-line carries. Even in an attractive matchup versus the Titans next week, Thomas is just a low-end flex option.

Wed Oct 31 201219:07Daniel Thomas (elbow) practicing in full
Daniel Thomas is listed on the Week 9 injury report with an elbow issue, but is practicing in full.
Thomas carried the ball 15 times in Sunday's win over the Jets, but gained just 42 yards (2.8 YPC). He won't be a viable flex option against the Colts.

Sun Oct 28 201218:06Thomas vultures TD, out-carries Bush in win
Daniel Thomas had 15 carries for 42 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's win over the Jets.
Thomas vultured a three-yard touchdown from Reggie Bush early in the game and was featured in all short-yardage situations. After dealing with multiple concussions to start the year, he's being used in a complementary role behind Bush as the Dolphins' power back. His 15 carries were his second highest total this season. He added one catch for three-yards and was targeted three times in the passing game.

Fri Oct 26 201216:57Daniel Thomas probable for Week 8
Daniel Thomas (concussion) is probable for Week 8.
Thomas is ready to return after getting in a week of full practices. With Reggie Bush (knee) having had two weeks to get healthier, however, Thomas shouldn't be in for more than 4-5 carries against the Jets. He remains a pure handcuff.

Wed Oct 24 201217:05Daniel Thomas practicing in full
Daniel Thomas (concussion) is practicing in full this week.
Thomas is just three weeks removed from his second concussion of the season, but it sounds like he'll be good to go as Reggie Bush's backup in Week 8 against the Jets.
