Todman gained 18 yards on eight carries and 24 yards on three receptions in Thursday's preseason game against the Bears.
The Jags' depth chart appears to be settled at running back, with Toby Gerhart locked in as the starter, and Todman in line to serve as the top backup. The only hint of a battle is between Denard Robinson and Storm Johnson for the No. 3 spot, a role Robinson played in Thursday's game. With Gerhart expected to handle third-down and goal-line duties, Todman may not have much stand-alone value.
Sat Aug 9 201411:43Todman started Friday's preseason opener against Tampa Bay
With Toby Gerhart (hip) held out due to a hip injury, Todman started Friday's preseason opener against Tampa Bay.
Todman only played one quarter, finishing his night with five yards on five carries and six yards on one reception. While the performance wasn't impressive, there was really nothing to like about the Jags' first-team offense. Denard Robinson managed 36 yards and a touchdown on seven carries, but the former QB didn't touch the ball until the second half, as seventh-round rookie Storm Johnson worked as Todman's backup. Toby Gerhart (hip) is merely day-to-day and seemingly locked in as the starter, while Todman appears to have a firm grip on the No. 2 role. It may be that the only competition left is between Johnson and Robinson for the third-string spot.

Todman is off to a great start at training camp and has a firm hold on the No. 2 running back spot, ESPN reports.
While Toby Gerhart is expected to be the Jaguars' workhorse next season, Todman figures to work his way into the rotation. He quietly emerged as a quality backup to Maurice Jones-Drew last season and is now ready to step into a similar role as Jacksonville's change-of-pace back. "Size isn't my weapon. It's my speed," Todman said. "I feel like I've always played full-speed, but more importantly this camp I feel like I've been moving and am comfortable at a high level." The 5-10 Todman is the virtual opposite of Gerhart, a bruising, between-the-tackles back who checks in at 6-0, 235 pounds. Gerhart isn't known as a big-play threat, so coach Gus Bradley hopes Todman can provide the Jags with that game-breaking ability. "You're seeing him break some," Bradley said. "The other day he had one where he broke and you saw him accelerate. Today he had another one, and I think that's what we're counting on him for -- to give that change-up, that burst that we know he has."
Sun Jul 20 201414:44Jags see Todman as 'change of pace' back
Jaguars OC Jedd Fisch made it clear he envisions Jordan Todman as a "change of pace" back.
Toby Gerhart detractors have suggested Todman might pose a threat to Gerhart's workload or even his starting job, but Fisch doesn't seem to agree. "Those two guys are truly change-of-pace backs," Fisch said of Todman and Denard Robinson, who are vying for the pace-change role behind Gerhart. Fisch did praise Todman's "burst, speed and acceleration." Still, Gerhart lacks a clear handcuff with Todman, Robinson, and Storm Johnson all competing for backup duties.

Wed Jul 9 201413:29Todman expected to retain kick return job
Jordan Todman is expected to be the Jaguars' kick returner again this season.
Todman averaged 27.4 yards per on 26 kick returns last season, good for seventh in the league. Second-round rookie Marqise Lee has experience returning kicks from his USC days and could provide competition for Todman this summer. Ace Sanders and Tandon Doss are expected to compete for punt return duties.

Fri Mar 7 201410:47Jaguars tender offer to ERFA RB Todman
Jaguars tendered an offer to exclusive rights free agent RB Jordan Todman.
Todman will earn $645,000. With Maurice Jones-Drew headed for free agency and unlikely to be re-signed, Todman currently sits atop the Jags' depth chart. He showed plus burst around the edge on 76 carries last season but averaged just 3.4 YPC. Todman also turned 14 catches into 116 yards and a score.

Sun Feb 9 201416:53Jordan Todman is exclusive rights free agent
Updating previous items, Jaguars RB Jordan Todman is an exclusive rights free agent this offseason.
Todman has only one "accrued year" (six-plus games of service time) in the NFL despite entering as a sixth-round pick in the 2011 draft. So he's actually two years away from restricted free agency. It's a big difference because the Jaguars can retain Todman at the NFL minimum salary for 2014. Were he a RFA, Todman would've cost $1.389 million -- at least -- for the Jags to tender.

Sun Dec 29 201317:09Jordan Todman puts bow on best NFL season
Jordan Todman rushed twice for three yards and caught a 12-yard pass in the Jaguars' Week 17 loss to the Colts.
Although it wasn't quite a breakout season, Todman finishes 2013 with career highs in carries (76), rushing yards (256), all-purpose touchdowns (3), and receptions (14), establishing himself as a viable NFL change-of-pace back. There is an outside chance the former Big East Offensive Player of the Year will be in the mix to start for Jacksonville in 2014 if Maurice Jones-Drew isn't retained, though Todman would surely face stiff competition. He's more of a role player. Todman is an impending restricted free agent.

Sun Dec 22 201316:45Jordan Todman limited to six carries
Jordan Todman was held to six yards on six carries in Sunday's Week 16 loss to the Titans.
He added one catch for five yards on two targets. Todman was mixed in behind Maurice Jones-Drew and used in a change-of-pace role. The Jaguars' offense isn't effective enough to support two running backs and Todman failed to do anything with his limited carries. He'll remain on the lesser half of a timeshare with Jones-Drew in the regular season finale against the Colts in Week 17.

Sun Dec 22 201311:59Maurice Jones-Drew starting ahead of Todman
Maurice Jones-Drew (hamstring) is starting Sunday's game against the Titans.
Beat writer Hays Carlyon has had a good read on this situation recently, especially from a fantasy perspective. He expects Jones-Drew to get around 16 touches and Jordan Todman to be limited to 8-10. That projection assumes the Jags are going to sustain drives and get their running backs around 25 total touches, which is certainly no sure thing. Ideally, owners will simply avoid this timeshare because the upside is capped.

Sun Dec 15 201317:05Todman piles up 153 total yards in Jags loss
Jordan Todman rushed for 109 yards on 25 carries in Jacksonville's Week 15, 27-20 loss to the Bills.
Todman got the start in place of an injured Maurice Jones-Drew (hamstring) and added four catches for 44 yards on a team-high eight targets. He handled the ball 29 times, while Denard Robinson chipped in just two carries. The Jaguars featured Todman around the edges, showing off his excellent speed. The only thing missing for fantasy owners was a touchdown. Todman definitely has some talent. MJD will look to test his hammy out next week in practice. If he can't go, Todman will handle all of the work against a leaky Tennessee run defense.

Sun Dec 15 201312:01Jordan Todman starting for Jones-Drew
Jordan Todman is starting Sunday's Week 15 game against the Bills.
Maurice Jones-Drew (hamstring) is inactive. The Jags were already trying to get Todman some touches as part of a committee, so now they'll get to take a long look at him as a feature back. He gets to face the Bills' No. 26 run defense, is playing at home and beat writer Hays Carlyon is expecting 17-22 touches. Todman has struggled in limited regular season work, but did post a 22/223/2 line in the preseason.

Thu Dec 12 201317:44Jordan Todman upgraded to 'full' Thursday
Jordan Todman (shoulder) was upgraded to "full" in Thursday's practice.
Todman is in no danger of missing Sunday's game, but Maurice Jones-Drew (hamstring) is. That would leave Todman as the Jaguars' starter, and borderline RB2 against the Bills. MJD owners need to have Todman at the ready.

Wed Dec 11 201318:43Jordan Todman (shoulder) limited Wednesday
Jordan Todman (shoulder) was limited in Wednesday's practice.
Todman is a guy to keep a close eye on this week with Maurice Jones-Drew (hamstring) in jeopardy of sitting out Week 15. Todman would draw the start in MJD's place. The shoulder isn't a major concern, and he should be fine.

Fri Dec 6 201300:24Jordan Todman manages 35 yards in win
Jordan Todman rushed seven times for 14 yards in Jacksonville's Week 14 win over the Texans, adding one catch for a 21-yard touchdown.
Todman came on for an injured Maurice Jones-Drew (hamstring) midway through the fourth quarter, but promptly came down with a cramp, missing a series before returning. Four of Todman's seven carries came in clock-killing mode. His touchdown was a trick play where he caught a pass from WR Ace Sanders. With Justin Forsett (broken foot) still sidelined, Todman would likely get the start in Week 15 against the Bills if MJD can't go. He'd be little more than a low-end FLEX play.

Sun Dec 1 201317:45Todman totals 43 yards on six touches in win
Jordan Todman rushed for 31 yards on five carries in Week 13 versus Cleveland.
Todman added one catch for 12 yards on two targets. The one he didn't catch, Todman probably could have picked up close to 20 yards on a third-and-16 screen pass. As a runner, Todman showed significantly more burst than teammate Maurice Jones-Drew, especially around the edge. Todman will continue to get 6-10 touches on a weekly basis as Jones-Drew's change-of-pace complement.

Sun Oct 6 201317:22Jordan Todman gets three carries in win
Jordan Todman rushed three times for 16 yards in Sunday's Week 5 loss to the Rams.
Todman played sparingly, just giving Maurice Jones-Drew a brief breather in the second half. He'll only get on the fantasy radar if MJD ends up traded before the Oct. 29 deadline.
