Thu Nov 6 201412:25Jackson (groin) practicing again Thursday
Jackson (groin), who returned to practice on a limited basis Wednesday, is practicing again Thursday, according to Joe Buscaglia of WGR550.com.
Apparently the veteran felt pretty good after Wednesday's test. Things are starting to look positive for Jackson beating his initial timetable by a couple of weeks. Worst case, he looks like a great bet to play next Thursday against the division-rival Dolphins.

Jackson (groin) was listed as a limited participant for Wednesday's practice but remains hopeful he can make a return to the lineup Sunday against the Chiefs, BuffaloBills.com reports. Said the veteran, "It went okay. It was good action, the first time I've done anything on it like that being out at practice so it went well. We'll see how it goes. The doctors are still being doctors and being cautious. So I've got to see how things progress throughout the week."
Jackson thinks he can play as soon as this week, which would really be a nice surprise given his initial timetable, though he admits that what he's able to do in practice and how he feels the next morning will determine whether or not he can truly give it a go. Plus he'll need to be cleared by doctors, which he implied. And finally, the Bills play next week Thursday, so the short span between games will also be under consideration should the team need to pick its poison and hold Jackson out for the divisional rival. We'll say ballpark that he's maybe 55-45 to play this week, though either way he now merits a hefty bid if he's available on your league's waiver wire.
Wed Nov 5 201412:25Fred Jackson: (Groin) Returns To Practice
Jackson (groin) was able to practice with the first team Wednesday, according to Joe Buscaglia of WGR550.com.
We'll hear more from coach Doug Marrone after practice, but like we've said before, Jackson is one tough cookie and he's obviously got his eye on shortening his injury timetable and playing in some capacity this week against Kansas City. Even though he's no sure bet yet this week, we know Jackson was dropped in a number of leagues. Get your free agent money ready.

Jackson (groin), who didn't practice Monday, is hoping he can get cleared for practice Wednesday and then participate on some level, BuffaloBills.com reports. said the veteran, "It's very competitive. I want to be out there and do everything I can to help my team compete. It's definitely motivating. We've got to take care of our business and that's the number one thing I'm trying to do. I'm trying to help my teammates win games that we're playing in. They're doing a tremendous job though and there's something I want to be a part of."
Doctors may say otherwise, as Jackson was initially scheduled to be out for a decent chunk of time, but he's as tough as they come and after missing one full game already to go with this past week's bye, Jackson has his eye on shortening that timetable. While it'd still be a surprise if he's suited up without any relaxation of his snap count for this week's game against Kansas City, it's time to start checking out your league's waiver wire and see if his name shows up there. With C.J. Spiller out for all but one regular season game (and likely that final one as well), there might be a window for Jackson to be the bell cow back if he can get fully healthy.

Jackson (groin) worked on the side with the Bills' training staff during Monday's practice, Chris Brown of Buffalobills.com reports.
As Week 10's game against the Chiefs approaches, Jackson's timetable for a return to action remains cloudy, though Brown relays that coach Doug Marrone is expected to provide an update Monday afternoon on Jackson's status in advance of Sunday's contest.
Fri Oct 24 201413:12Jackson (groin) listed as out for Sunday's game against Jets
Jackson (groin) is listed as out for Sunday's game against the Jets.
Just in case you're in some super deep league and were hoping for a miracle, it's not going to happen this week. That said, Jackson has always been a fast healer and he may not be out as long as some people fear. In fact, there's a chance his fantasy value could be even higher pre-injury should it not nag him when he returns, as he wouldn't have to share time with C.J. Spiller any more. In the meantime, hopefully you were able to pick up Boobie Dixon or Bryce Brown.
Mon Oct 20 201410:05Fred Jackson: (Groin) Expected to Miss Four Weeks
Jackson (groin) will not require surgery, but said that his injury is typically one that requires a four-week absence, ESPN Buffalo's Mike Rodak reports.
C.J. Spiller is expected to miss the rest of the season with a broken collarbone, leaving Boobie Dixon and Bryce Brown with opportunities for an expanded role in the Buffalo backfield. Presumably, Dixon will have the larger role, as Brown was inactive for the Week 7 game against Minnesota. With a four-week absence, Jackson may be out until Week 12 against the Jets.
Sun Oct 19 201421:14Fred Jackson: (Groin) Out Until At Least Week 10
Jackson (groin) will not return any sooner than Week 10 against the Chiefs, according to Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports reports.
Buffalo faces the Jets in Week 8, followed by a Week 9 bye. With C.J. Spiller (broken collarbone) facing an even longer absence than Jackson, the Bills will turn to Anthony Dixon and Bryce Brown, the latter of whom has not been active for a game this season. While his short-term value obviously takes a big hit, Jackson could see some extra touches later this season if he makes it back to the field before Spiller.
Sun Oct 19 201414:45Jackson's groin injury appears serious
Jackson's groin injury appears serious, but the Bills will have a better understanding of the severity of the injury after the running back undergoes an MRI on Monday, NFL.com's Ian Rapoport reports.
The Bills have had a devastating day on the injury front: C.J. Spiller was injured just minutes after Jackson and reportedly has a broken collarbone. If Jackson is forced to miss significant time, Boobie Dixon and Bryce Brown (who was inactive Sunday) figure to see a major uptick in carries, and the Bills may look for help from outside the organization to reinforce a suddenly threadbare running back depth chart.
Sun Oct 19 201413:55Fred Jackson: Out with Groin Injury
Jackson suffered a groin injury in Sunday's game against Minnesota and will not return, ESPN's Mike Rodak reports.
Jackson walked off the field - with assistance - following the injury, but once he made it to the sideline, the Bills brought out a cart to take him to the locker room. It's too early to know much about the severity, but Jackson was emotional as he was carted off, dropping his face into his hands. C.J. Spiller will take over as the primary ballcarrier, and Anthony Dixon may see increased playing time as well.

Jackson (ankle) had 10 carries for 26 rushing yards and a touchdown, as well as four catches on six targets for 17 receiving yards Sunday against the Patriots.
The Patriots' defense effectively slowed the Bills' rushing attack, holding them to only 68 yards on 23 carries. Of note is that Jackson finished with more carries and more catches than C.J. Spiller, who gained 19 yards on six carries, failed to catch a pass, and lost a fumble. Jackson continues to be the steadying force in the Bills' backfield and figures to keep getting enough touches to keep him relevant in most fantasy leagues, especially as he gets the goal-line carries (his touchdown Sunday was a one-yarder). Up next is a trip to face a Vikings defense that allows over 118 rushing yards per game.

Jackson (ankle) is listed as active for Sunday's game against the Patriots.
Evidently past the illness that kept him out of practice Friday, Jackson will tough it out through an ankle issue that limited him at practice earlier in the week, but the veteran back has a track record of being a gamer who can stay productive off of questionable and probable designations. Assuming he avoids any in-game setbacks, Jackson -- who has been particularly active in the Bills' passing game of late -- should see his share of touches Sunday, working in tandem with C.J. Spiller, who does not appear on the Bills' Week 6 injury report.

Jackson (ankle), who missed practice Friday due to an illness, is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Patriots, the Bills' official site reports.
Prior to missing practice Friday, Jackson was limited Wednesday and Thursday by an ankle injury, but it's an issue that both ESPN's Mike Rodak and NFL Network's Ian Rapoport indicate that the running back should be able to play through Sunday, a notion that we'll confirm, either way, in advance of the Bills' 1:00 ET kickoff.

Jackson did not practice Friday due to a fever, but he is expected to play Sunday against the Patriots, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL.com.
Rapoport notes that if it were Sunday, Jackson would have been able to play, so there doesn't appear to be any serious worry here, though it should be noted that Jackson was limited in practice Thursday due to an ankle injury he suffered last Sunday against the Lions.
Fri Oct 10 201411:53Jackson (leg) did not practice Friday
Jackson (leg) did not practice Friday, Chris Brown of BuffaloBills.com reports.
We're still waiting for the official injury designations, so it is not immediately clear whether this was a rest day or an indication that Jackson's ankle may keep him out of Sunday's matchup with the Patriots.
Thu Oct 9 201417:09Jackson (ankle) limited at practice Thursday
Jackson (ankle) was limited at practice Thursday, ESPN.com reports.
Jackson was one of eight Bills listed as limited Thursday, so assuming the team does some questionable/probable sorting, Friday's official injury report will hopefully be telling with regard to his Week 6 status in advance of Sunday's game against the Patriots.

Jackson left Sunday's game against the Lions in the fourth quarter with an apparent right leg injury, ESPN's John Clayton reports.
Jackson was having a strong all-around game before the injury, racking up 50 rushing yards and 58 receiving yards. His return is questionable.

Jackson had seven carries for 33 rushing yards and six catches on seven targets for 52 receiving yards Sunday against the Texans.
Despite getting just under half the carries as C.J. Spiller, Jackson continued to make an impact through the passing game, leading the Bills in receptions for the second consecutive week. Spiller continues to get a higher share of the carries, but Jackson's 85 yards Sunday beat Spiller's 84, as he continues to hold the lead between the two in total yards this season. Up next is a trip to Detroit to take on a Lions defense that allowed 132 rushing yards to the Jets in Week 4.

Jackson gained 34 yards on just six carries during Sunday's loss to the Chargers. However, he played a major role in the passing game, hauling in eight of 10 targets for 78 yards and a score.
The veteran always seems to find a way to be productive, even with the team possibly willing to give C.J. Spiller a slightly better share of the carries out of the backfield these days. On the season, Jackson has carried the ball 25 times to Spiller's 37, while Jackson has 237 total rushing/receiving yards to Spiller's 204. In other words, though Spiller has far more explosiveness and is always seen as the upside play, the overall value has been pretty close through three games.

Jackson had 12 carries for 24 rushing yards and two catches on four targets for 27 receiving yards Sunday against the Dolphins.
11 of Jackson's 24 rushing yards came on a single play, leaving him with 11 carries for 13 yards otherwise. He finished with the same number of carries as C.J. Spiller, though the latter had 68 yards on the ground. Jackson will continue to get enough touches to keep himself relevant in many fantasy leagues, but Spiller has more upside.
