Sat Jun 21 201411:29Robinson improving as a pass catcher
ESPN Jaguars reporter Mike DiRocco expects RB Denard Robinson to be a "significant part of the offense" if he continues his improvement as a pass catcher.
Nerve damage in his hand caused Robinson to be completely uninvolved in the passing game last season. Now recovered, Robinson was more active as a receiver during spring practices, only dropping one pass over 12 sessions. Robinson should win a role as a change-of-pace back behind entrenched starter Toby Gerhart, but he is still a long-shot to have any fantasy value this season.

Thu Jun 19 201408:16Denard played through hand injury in 2013
Jaguars RB Denard Robinson played through nerve damage in his hand last season.
"Denard couldn't catch a cold last season, but he's had the best offseason of anyone," former NFL defensive end and current Jags radio analyst Jeff Lagemen said. Robinson was slow to transition from college quarterback to pro running back, but he's progressing toward a change-of-pace and gadget guy role behind Toby Gerhart this season. Jordan Todman will also be in the mix for backup carries.

Fri Apr 25 201413:56Robinson, Todman to compete for No. 2 RB job
The Jaguars plan let Denard Robinson and Jordan Todman compete for their No. 2 tailback job in training camp.
Robinson has converted to running back full-time, bulking up to 212 pounds after he measured 6-foot, 199 at the 2013 Combine. "Toby (Gerhart) comes in and he will be No. 1 on the depth chart," said Bradley "but he also knows there's competition." Ideally, Robinson would develop into a homerun-hitting change of pace. Gerhart will be Jacksonville's workhorse runner and three-down back.

Tue Mar 25 201417:10Shoelace up to 212 pounds this offseason
Denard Robinson is up to 212 pounds this offseason.
Shoelace checked in at 199 pounds at last year's Combine. "He has taken a different approach," coach Gus Bradley said of Robinson's offseason. "He's coming in to get ready and he understands he's a running back." Robinson won't get a shot at the starting job, but is getting another opportunity to establish himself as a play-making, change-of-pace back. He's a name to file away in deeper PPR leagues.

Sun Mar 2 201411:00Coach Gus Bradley remains high on Shoelace
Coach Gus Bradley said he's "intrigued to see" if Denard Robinson can have an impact at the running back position in 2014.
"I think he went through last year and said, `OK, I don't want to go through that feeling again,'" Bradley said. "I don't think [Robinson] is a gimmick guy. He can maybe run outside zone and get to the point where he runs north. But how can you tell off 10 runs?" Shoelace toted it just 20 times for 66 yards as a rookie. The Jaguars are going to give him ample opportunity to earn a bigger role.

Thu Feb 6 201418:48Jaguars optimistic about Denard Robinson
Jaguars GM David Caldwell said the team was "really optimistic about" RB Denard Robinson.
Caldwell later said Robinson needed to bulk up about 15 pounds before 2014 to become a better finisher. With Maurice Jones-Drew and Jordan Todman both potential free agents, Caldwell could be opening the door on Robinson being the lead back in Jacksonville next season. Robinson gained 66 yards on only 20 carries in 2013.

Thu Jan 9 201411:05Denard Robinson happy to have defined role
Denard Robinson said he's happy to have a defined role as a running back heading into the offseason.
Robinson was a quarterback at Michigan, an "offensive weapon" when he first got to Jacksonville and then a receiver before settling in as a running back. It's understandable that his head was spinning as he rushed 20 times for just 66 yards all year, failing to climb the depth chart. With a big leap, Robinson should be able to carve out a role in the 2014 backfield as Maurice Jones-Drew projects to walk in free agency. "Before it was up in the air what position I would be playing. Now it's more comfortable," Robinson said. "I know what I'm doing now and I can just take on the role and try to do what it takes to get better."

Fri Dec 6 201300:49Denard Robinson loses a yard in victory
Denard Robinson lost a yard on two carries in Jacksonville's Week 14 win over the Texans.
Robinson was forced into action in the fourth quarter after Maurice Jones-Drew suffered a hamstring injury and Jordan Todman departed with a cramp. Shoelace headed back to the bench once Todman was ready to return. Bypassed for gadget duties by Ace Sanders, Robinson has no real role in the Jaguars' offense.

Mon Nov 18 201313:19Denard Robinson plays zero snaps in Week 11
Denard Robinson didn't play a single offensive snap in Week 11.
Robinson fumbled in Week 10 and has been a non-factor since. Although "Shoelace" maintains some Dynasty league value, he's off the re-draft radar.

Sun Nov 17 201319:00Denard Robinson held without touch in loss
Denard Robinson was held without a touch in Jacksonville's Week 11 loss to the Cardinals.
Shoelace is still being punished for his Week 10 fumble. Jordan Todman operated as Maurice Jones-Drew's backup, totaling four yards on three touches. Neither player is on the re-draft league radar.

Fri Nov 8 201310:24Jaguars want to get Shoelace 14 carries/game
Jaguars OC Jedd Fisch said the plan is to get Maurice Jones-Drew about 20 carries and Denard Robinson around 14 carries per game.
That's laughable. The Jaguars haven't been competitive in a game all season outside of the first half in Denver in Week 6. At least Fisch knows it's likely not realistic for the Jaguars to be able to run the ball 34 times in one game. "I think we can give [Robinson] more ops but with that, we would have to be able to run the ball for four quarters," Fisch acknowledged. The Jaguars named Robinson their No. 2 running back this week, moving him ahead of Justin Forsett.

Wed Nov 6 201318:06Shoelace limited on Wednesday by hamstring
Denard Robinson (hamstring) was limited in practice on Wednesday.
Robinson was recently named the Jaguars' No. 2 running back. He's not on re-draft league radars just yet but would be if Maurice Jones-Drew ever got hurt. Robinson initially injured his hamstring in Week 4 against Indy.

Sun Oct 27 201316:53Denard Robinson goes for 15 yards on 4 runs
Jaguars rookie WR/RB Denard Robinson rushed four times for 15 yards in Sunday's Week 8 loss to San Francisco.
Robinson was bottled up aside from a sharp-looking seven-yard run up the middle. Robinson has been promoted to the Jaguars' No. 3 running back, behind Maurice Jones-Drew and Justin Forsett. He's passed Jordan Todman.

Mon Sep 30 201313:43Denard Robinson suffers hamstring injury
Jaguars WR/RB Denard Robinson suffered a hamstring injury in Week 4 against the Colts and will be limited this week.
Robinson has five carries for -1 yards and a lost fumble this season. He has yet to catch a pass and can be safely dropped in 14-team fantasy leagues.

Thu Sep 26 201314:05Jags drop Shoelace's 'weapon' designation
The Jaguars have changed Denard Robinson's position from "offensive weapon" to wide receiver.
The official reasoning is that the league requested a formal position, but "offensive weapon" was a bit much for a player who has three touches through three games. Still more running back than receiver, Robinson is miles from re-draft relevance.

Sun Sep 15 201320:43Denard Robinson posts zero yards vs. OAK
Denard Robinson was stopped for no gain on his lone carry in Jacksonville's Week 2 loss to the Raiders.
He wasn't targeted in the passing game. It's notable because starting RB Maurice Jones-Drew missed over half the game with an ankle injury. "Offensive weapon" Robinson now heads into Week 3 with one yard from scrimmage. Even if MJD misses Week 3, Shoelace is miles from fantasy relevance.

Mon Aug 26 201309:13Jags still calling Denard Robinson 'OW'
The Jaguars are still listing Denard Robinson's position as "offensive weapon," and are "serious" about using him all over the field.

Sat Aug 24 201322:08Denard Robinson runs well vs. Eagles
Denard Robinson rushed seven times for 33 yards in Saturday's third preseason game against the Eagles.
Even though Justin Forsett (toe) didn't play, Robinson wasn't the primary backup. That job went to Jordan Todman, who broke off a 63-yard touchdown run early and finished with a 8/105/1 line. Robinson was still used as a specialist on outside runs and returned kicks. That's the role he'll play once September hits, capping his upside at a handful of touches each week.
