Sat Apr 26 201414:05Raiders believe Hayden will be impact player
CSN Bay Area's Scott Bair reports the Raiders believe CB D.J. Hayden will "become a true impact player in 2014."
Oakland had high hopes for Hayden after selecting him with the No. 12 overall pick last season, but he struggled with an abdominal injury during the preseason and only got in seven up-and-down games before being place on injured reserve with a groin injury. Hayden should be given another shot to start, but the Raiders have newly-signed Carlos Rodgers and Tarell Brown waiting in the wings in case he falters.

Wed Nov 20 201314:28Raiders place CB Hayden on year-ending I.R.
Raiders placed CB D.J. Hayden on injured reserve with a groin injury, ending his season.
Hayden had been inactive the last two weeks and wasn't close to returning, so the Raiders made the decision to shut him down for the season. He finishes his rookie campaign with 26 tackles, one interception, and two pass deflections over eight games, grading out as the No. 93 corner by Pro Football Focus among 107 qualifiers. Miles Burris has been activated from the PUP list to take his spot on the 53-man roster. Hayden will return to a starting role in 2014.

Thu Nov 14 201316:53D.J. Hayden expected to be out 'a while'
Raiders coach Dennis Allen expects CB D.J. Hayden (groin) to be sidelined "a while."
Hayden sat out on Sunday, and can be safely ruled out for Week 11. Whenever Hayden finally returns, he'll be looking to put a disastrous Week 9 performance against the Eagles behind him.

Sun Nov 10 201311:29Raiders CB D.J. Hayden sidelined for Week 10
Raiders CB D.J. Hayden (groin) is inactive for Week 10 against the Giants.
Hayden got hurt in Wednesday's practice. Hayden is coming off an impossibly bad game against the Eagles, but has been mostly solid throughout his rookie season. His loss leaves the Raiders' vanishingly thin secondary that much more undermanned. Also inactive for the Raiders are RB Darren McFadden, SS Tyvon Branch, LB Kaluka Maiava, T Matt McCants, T Tony Pashos and WR Juron Criner.

Thu Nov 7 201319:19D.J. Hayden misses practice with groin issue
Raiders CB D.J. Hayden suffered a groin injury in Wednesday's practice, and missed Thursday's session.
Coach Dennis Allen said Hayden's status is uncertain for Sunday's game. If Hayden can't go against the Giants, Phillip Adams would start in his place. Hayden was in the midst of a reasonably strong rookie campaign before getting relentlessly torched in last week's loss to the Eagles.

Mon Sep 9 201314:57D.J. Hayden part-time player in NFL debut
Raiders CB D.J. Hayden played 21-of-55 defensive snaps in his NFL debut Sunday.
The Raiders didn't have a part-time role in mind when they made Hayden the No. 12 pick of April's draft, but it's a minor miracle he was ready to play at all following his May setback. Per Pro Football Focus' ratings, Hayden was a liability when on the field. He could be in for another part-time day in Week 2.

Sat Aug 17 201322:10D.J. Hayden finally cleared for contact
Raiders first-round CB D.J. Hayden (abdominal surgery) has been cleared for contact.
Hayden, who underwent surgery in late May, is expected to make his preseason debut on Friday against the Bears. It will be a huge test for the No. 12 overall pick, who has been physically ready for weeks, but not mentally prepared to take hits following the freak heart injury that ended his college career. GM Reggie McKenzie desperately needs his first-round pick to make an impact this season.

Fri Aug 9 201312:37Raiders GM: Hayden still targeting preseason
Raiders GM Reggie McKenzie expects first-round CB D.J. Hayden (abdominal surgery) to make his exhibition debut in the third preseason game.
"We'll let him go full-bore - that third (preseason) game, the gloves come off," McKenzie assured. McKenzie says Hayden is physically ready, but still struggling with the mental aspect. "He's going to have to pull the trigger on some things, get the big hit, make plays, he'll be back to normal mentally," McKenzie said. "His weight is right back, his strength, he's been normal." Until proven otherwise, McKenzie's inaugural first-round pick is looking like a huge gamble.

Tue Aug 6 201308:10D.J. Hayden won't play in preseason opener
Raiders first-round CB D.J. Hayden (abdominal surgery) will not play in Friday's preseason opener.
Hayden underwent surgery in late May to remove scar tissue in his abdomen. The scar tissue was related to the tear of the interior vena cava he sustained last February. Hayden has practiced every day at camp, but has been wearing a red jersey because he still hasn't been cleared for contact.

Mon Jul 29 201309:37'No plan' for when Hayden will be cleared
According to SI's Peter King, there's "no plan" for when Raiders rookie CB D.J. Hayden (heart) will be cleared for contact.
Hayden was activated from the NFI list on Friday, but is stuck in a red non-contact jersey. Hayden was supposedly over his freak college injury before he "kept vomiting" in OTAs. He underwent surgery to remove scar tissue from "around part of his bowel" in late May. The risk factor with GM Reggie McKenzie's first first-round pick is looking immense.

Fri Jul 26 201312:29Raiders active CB Hayden from active/NFI list
Raiders activated CB D.J. Hayden from the active/NFI list.
Hayden underwent late-May surgery to remove scar tissue following his life-threatening abdominal injury, but only ended up missing one day of training camp. He hasn't been cleared for full contact, however, and was a limited participant in Friday's practice.
