Posluszny won't travel with the Jaguars for their preseason game in Chicago on Thursday due to a minor biceps contusion, the team's official website reports.
Posluszny's biceps ailment is considered to be very minor, so Jacksonville is merely playing it safe with him during the preseason. After ranking second in the NFL with 161 total tackles last season, Posluszny is expected to be an IDP gem once again this year, should he remain healthy.
Tue Dec 31 201309:55Paul Posluszny expected back with Jaguars
Jaguars GM Dave Caldwell said he expects MLB Paul Posluszny to be with the team in 2014.
Posluszny, 29, is the owner of the Jaguars' steepest salary cap figure for next season at $9.5 million. Money is not an issue in Jacksonville. Posluszny led the team with his 161 tackles and recorded three sacks and nine pass breakups. Per Pro Football Focus, he was below average against the run, pass, and as a pass rusher. IDP leaguers love Posluszny because he racks up tackles.

He is the NFL's seventh highest paid inside linebacker, but Pro Football Focus graded Posluszny 47th out of 53 qualifying ILBs last season. Posluszny also was not acquired by the current Jags regime.

Fri Jan 4 201311:19Posluszny sets Jaguars tackles record
Paul Posluszny set the Jaguars unofficial franchise record for tackles (231), breaking Hardy Nickerson's 2001 record of 230.
The Jacksonville coaching staff was liberal in their tackle count, also awarding WLB Russell Allen (201) the third-highest total in franchise history. The Florida Times-Union suggests there may have been some "fuzzy math" on Posluszny's total, as he broke Nickerson's record by one tackle. Posluszny graded out near the bottom of Pro Football Focus' ratings for 2012.

Jaguars MLB Paul Posluszny (shoulder surgery) was cleared for practice two weeks ago.

Posluszny remains without a firm return date, but barring a setback, will be ready for training camp. The Jaguars' leading tackler in 2011, he shouldn't be ruled out for OTAs. A second-round pick of the Bills in 2007, Posluszny has appeared in all 16 games just twice in five seasons.

Thu Jan 26 201213:44Posluszny recovering from shoulder surgery
Jaguars MLB Paul Posluszny underwent surgery earlier this month to repair a torn labrum in his left shoulder.
Because the surgery took place so late in the process, Posluszny will likely be sidelined for all OTAs and questionable for the start of training camp. The Jaguars have retained defensive coordinator Mel Tucker, so Posluszny is already comfortable in the scheme. An elite run stopper, "Poz" was one of the primary reasons for Jacksonville's 2011 defensive turnaround.

Tue Jan 3 201211:39Paul Posluszny separated shoulder in Week 17
Jaguars MLB Paul Posluszny suffered a Week 17 shoulder separation and may need offseason surgery.
Posluszny could be heard screaming on the field, and needed doctors to "push it back in the socket." Any surgery shouldn't affect his status for Week 1 of 2012, but it could land him on the active/PUP list to open training camp. Signed to a $42M blockbuster last July, Posluszny was a stud run stuffer during his first year with Jacksonville. He led the club with 119 tackles.
