Wilson (hamstring) missed the Chiefs' first day of minicamp Tuesday, BJ Kissel of the team's official site reports.

Since sustaining the hamstring concern on June 3, Wilson's activity level has oscillated from practice to practice. Consequently, he may be held out for the rest of minicamp as a precautionary measure but should return to full health by the time training camp commences in late July.

Wilson (hamstring) was limited during Thursday's session, BJ Kissel of Chiefs.com reports.

Wilson participated in positional drills early in Thursday's practice, but he was held out of team drills as he continues to work back from a hamstring injury. The team doesn't believe it's anything overly serious, and Wilson will likely be back to full strength for the start of training camp.

Coach Andy Reid indicated Thursday that Wilson's hamstring injury "is more of a knot than a tear," and that he's expected to rejoin the team when they start back up, Adam Teicher of ESPN reports.

Wilson exited Wednesday's practice early due to the hamstring issue, but it sounds as though it shouldn't hold him out long. Assuming the issue doesn't extend into training camp, he should compete for the starting spot alongside Jeremy Maclin after developing a strong rapport with Alex Smith late in the 2014 season.

Wilson entered Week 14 last season with only four catches to his name, but the undrafted rookie proceeded to rack up 12 (on 20 targets) for 209 yards over the next three games, which was good for 17.4 YPC. Although he was blanked in the season finale, he was named a candidate to start 2015 on the outside opposite offseason addition Jeremy Maclin. The severity of the injury is unknown, but even if Wilson sits out the rest of OTAs and the mandatory minicamp, there's nothing to indicate that his availability for training camp is hanging in the balance.

While the Chiefs could well add competition at the position in the upcoming NFL draft, with Dwayne Bowe no longer in the mix, and Jason Avant a candidate to work out of the slot, Wilson figures to have an opportunity this coming season to build off the late-season promise he displayed in 2014. The 5-9, 200-pound Wilson finished the campaign with 16 catches for 260 yards in 12 games overall, but 12 of his grabs came during a three-game span, between Week 14 and 16.

The rookie seemed to be developing a rapport with Alex Smith, which was derailed following the news that Smith would miss the final week of the season due to a lacerated spleen. Wilson will enter the offseason as the Chiefs' no. 2 receiver behind Dwayne Bowe, but Donnie Avery still figures to be in the mix for the opportunity. Assuming Wilson keeps his starting gig, he could be a potential candidate as late-round flier in 2015 fantasy drafts.

Wilson caught five passes for 87 yards Sunday against the Steelers.

Wilson appears to be locked in as the Chiefs no. 2 wideout behind Dwayne Bowe, and could be a potential fantasy target in the later round in 2015 drafts. He has over 50 yards receiving in each of the past three games, and there's no reason to believe he can't hit the mark again Sunday against the Steelers.

Wilson caught 3-of-5 targets for a career-high 69 yards in Sunday's win over the Raiders.

Wilson made his second straight start, doing most of his damage on a 48-yard catch. Even still, the undrafted free agent has performed well over the last two games, catching 7-of-13 targets for 122 yards. That is significant, given that the Chiefs haven't gotten much out of their wideouts this season. In fact, no Chiefs wide receiver has scored a touchdown since Dec. 8, 2013. While it would have seemed unlikely before the season started, Wilson might be the Chiefs' wide receiver to finally break the dubious streak.

Wilson will make his second consecutive start Sunday against Oakland, Herbie Teope of ChiefsDigest.com reports.

Donnie Avery (groin) is inactive, and the fact that he was listed as probable on the injury report indicates that his deactivation may not have been injury-related, and may be an indication that he's been leapfrogged by Wilson. Wilson is still off the fantasy radar in most leagues, but after getting eight targets in 51 snaps last week (he had played just 27 snaps all season coming into the game), he's a name worth remembering in deeper formats.

Wilson caught four passes for 53 yards Sunday against the Cardinals.

Wilson (48 snaps) saw much more work Sunday than Donnie Avery (one snap), who was the presumed No. 2 receiver behind Dwayne Bowe. The workload could indicate a shift in Wilson's favor as the team's second wideout, with Jason Avant serving as the slot receiver. It also could indicate that Donnie Avery is still dealing with a groin issue that caused him to miss the majority of the season. The injury report and next Sunday's game against the Raiders.

Wilson caught two passes for 27 yards Thursday against the Raiders.

Wilson continues to be buried on the Chiefs depth chart, and will likely slide further down the totem pole following the signing of Jason Avant.

Wilson saw the field for just one offensive snap and made the most of it by catching a pass. He remains buried on the depth chart.

Wilson remains buried in the depth chart despite the injury to Donnie Avery. The reception was the first of his career, and it came on one of his three snaps on the day.

Wilson caught all four of his targets for 34 yards in Thursday's preseason finale against the Packers.

With Dwayne Bowe suspended for Week 1, and Junior Hemingway (hip) looking uncertain, Wilson and Frankie Hammond are likely in line for added raps. Hammond is expected to start if Hemingway can't go, a scenario that might leave Wilson as the temporary No. 3 receiver. Of course, as a short-term No. 3 wideout in a run-heavy offense, Wilson would only be worth a look in the deepest of leagues.
