Mon Oct 14 2013 | 15:48 | James Jones: PCL sprain, 'might' play Week 7 |
ESPN's Adam Schefter reports James Jones escaped Sunday's knee injury with a PCL sprain and "might be able to play" in Week 7. |
It's obviously too early in the week to speculate with any confidence on such things, but it sounds like Jones is headed for a game-time decision against the Browns. If Jones and Randall Cobb (knee) can't face Cleveland, Aaron Rodgers would likely pepper Jordy Nelson and Jermichael Finley with targets. Eddie Lacy projects for another 18-20 rushing attempts on the ground. |

Sun Oct 13 2013 | 18:29 | James Jones may have avoided knee injury |
James Jones was spotted with a bag of ice on his shin following Sunday's game-ending injury. |
It's notable because initial fears were Jones suffered a right knee injury. Jones walked off the field under his own power, but had a full leg brace under his sweats late in the game on the sideline. NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported Sunday evening the Packers believe they "dodged a bullet" with Jones' injury. "We'll find out tomorrow," coach Mike McCarthy said. "... James Jones, I'm hoping for good information there." |

Sun Oct 13 2013 | 17:07 | Report: James Jones (leg) 'dodged a bullet' |
NFL.com's Ian Rapoport reports Packers WR James Jones (leg) "dodged a bullet" with his Week 6 injury, and is indicating to sources that "he's OK." |
Jones limped off the field in the first quarter before being taken to the locker room in the second. The Packers did not update his status after the game, though it appears he may have suffered a hyperextended knee. If that was the post-game diagnosis, it's possible he'll be ready for Week 7. Jones will be under pressure to play, as Randall Cobb's (knee) injury appeared more serious. Jones' status will be updated no later than Monday afternoon. |

Sun Oct 13 2013 | 13:27 | Pack's James Jones limps off with leg injury |
James Jones was forced from Green Bay's Week 6 game against the Ravens with a left leg injury, and is questionable to return. |
Jones limped off the field under his own power early in the first quarter. The injury appears more to his knee than leg/ankle. It didn't seem overly serious, but Jones was spotted on the sideline with his helmet off. It's possible his afternoon is through. Jones had one catch for 10 yards before departing. Jarrett Boykin is now on in three-receiver sets. |

Sun Oct 6 2013 | 17:42 | James Jones has 4/127/1 day vs. Lions |
James Jones caught four passes for 127 yards and a touchdown in Green Bay's Week 5 win over the Lions. |
With the Pack still looking for their first big play of the day late in the third quarter, Jones smoked Lions CB Chris Houston down the sideline for a career-long, 83-yard touchdown. He nearly beat Houston for a 27-yard score a quarter later, but the play was overturned on review. With a quarter of the season in the books, the boom-or-bust WR3 is now on pace for 76 catches, 1,356 yards and eight touchdowns. There will be the occasional dud, but Jones is too explosive to ever bench. |

Thu Sep 12 2013 | 12:12 | Rodgers, Packers want Jones to get catches |
Both coach Mike McCarthy and Aaron Rodgers said the Packers need to James Jones more opportunities. |
Jones was held without a catch on two targets in Week 1 even through Rodgers attempted 37 passes and went for 333 yards. "James didn't get targeted as many times as we would have liked," Rodgers said. "Obviously you've got to try and give him the ball. But the way they were playing us, the ball was going to Jermichael and Randall a lot, and Jordy had a few more opportunities." With Finley (toe) looking questionable for Week 2, now is the time to throw some buy-low offers at Jones' owners. He has a shot to bounce back big against the Redskins' weak secondary Sunday. |

Fri Aug 23 2013 | 22:38 | James Jones goes for 11 yards Friday night |
James Jones caught two passes for 11 yards in the Packers' third preseason game Friday night. |
Jones is up to five catches for 72 preseason yards. Jones isn't going to repeat last year's league-high 14 touchdowns, but he could stay in the double digits and has increased value with Greg Jennings gone, Jordy Nelson battling knee woes, and Randall Cobb a biceps injury. With an Average Draft Position in the late-sixth round, Jones is a quality WR3 draft-day investment. |

Tue May 28 2013 | 08:25 | Coach: 2012 just a starting point for Jones |
Wide receivers coach Edgar Bennett said 2012 was "just a starting point" for James Jones. |
Jones set career-highs last season in catches (64), yards (784) and led the league in receiving touchdowns (14). Now Greg Jennings is gone and the Packers are extremely thin on the outside. "I thought he had a phenomenal year last year, and this year he's going to be even better than what he was last year," Bennett said. "I think he understands that and I think knows what he's capable of doing." Jones' touchdown rate will naturally regress, but he'll see a significant bump on last year's meager 98 targets. |

Wed Feb 20 2013 | 08:17 | James Jones thinking big as clear starter |
James Jones thinks the Packers can have three 1,000-yard receivers next season. |
With Donald Driver retired and free agent Greg Jennings a goner, Jones' suggestion isn't outlandish. Last year, Randall Cobb, Jordy Nelson and Jones combined for 2,483 yards while Jennings added 366. Next year, the trio will be playing every down. "It's exciting because it means more opportunities," Jones said. |

Sat Jan 12 2013 | 23:59 | James Jones goes for 87 yards, touchdown |
James Jones caught four balls for a team-high 87 yards and a touchdown in Green Bay's Divisional Round loss to the 49ers. |
Jones made a huge catch in heavy traffic during the first quarter, coming down with a 44-yard bomb in double coverage to set up DuJuan Harris' 18-yard score. Jones would reach pay dirt himself on a seam route out of the right slot, with Aaron Rodgers threading a laser to him for a 20-yard touchdown. Jones, who turns 29 in March, seems to have turned a corner in his previously drop-plagued career. He led the NFL in receiving touchdowns (14) in 2012, and will have a bigger role in 2013 with Greg Jennings likely to depart in free agency. |

Sat Jan 5 2013 | 23:29 | James Jones goes for 51 yards in playoff win |
James Jones hauled in four passes for 51 yards in the Packers' Wild Card win over the Vikings. |
Jones made plays over the middle and down the sideline, working often in Vikings CB A.J. Jefferson's coverage. Jefferson was benched late in the game in favor of rookie Josh Robinson. Look for Green Bay's wide receivers to put up better stats in the Divisional Round at San Francisco, in what ought to be a much more competitive game. |

Sun Dec 30 2012 | 21:28 | James Jones totals 62 yards, TD in Week 17 |
James Jones caught six passes for 62 yards and a touchdown at Minnesota in Week 17. |
Jones was involved in the game's pivotal play when a goal-line fumble was overruled as a touchdown even though coach Mike McCarthy broke the rules by throwing the challenge flag on a turnover. Jones finished a career-best regular season with a 64/784/14 stat line as a top-20 fantasy receiver. He remains Aaron Rodgers' top red-zone threat entering the rematch with the Vikes next week. |

Thu Dec 20 2012 | 09:52 | Aaron Rodgers raving about Jones |
Aaron Rodgers says that ever since James Jones became a father earlier this year, he's been more focused. |
The knock on Jones has always been inconsistency and drops. But it's all come together this year as he leads the league in touchdown catches with 12 and has drawn heavy praise from both coach Mike McCarthy and Rodgers. With Jordy Nelson (hamstring) still sidelined, Jones will have plenty more opportunities against the Titans this week. "It's pretty impressive. He's really improved a lot," Rodgers said. |

Sun Dec 16 2012 | 16:05 | Rodgers dials up Jones for 3 TDs in victory |
James Jones exploded for a career-high three touchdowns on seven targets, five receptions and 60 yards to lead the Packers to a 21-13 victory at Chicago in Week 15. |
No receiver causes his fantasy owners to pull out their hair more than Jones, who only produces big games when he's left on the bench. Jones got the scoring started with a 29-yard grab and came back with an 8-yard score just before halftime following a Jay Cutler interception. After a high pass through Jones' hands, Aaron Rodgers found him just inside the pylon for a 6-yard touchdown in the middle of the third quarter. Jones has a fine matchup in Week 16 versus the Titans, but he's made a habit of following up big games with an air ball. |

Mon Dec 10 2012 | 00:34 | James Jones held to two catches again |
James Jones caught two passes for 27 yards in Green Bay's Week 14 win over the Lions. |
Yet another disappointing night for Jones, who now has just six catches for 100 yards and one touchdown in four games since the Packers' Week 10 bye. Although things were a bit skewed this evening since the Packers attempted just 24 passes in a game where the Lions dominated the time of possession, it's plain to see Jones' role has been scaled back even with Greg Jennings and Jordy Nelson trading off missed games. Jones is a threat to score in any given week, but his "high-risk" WR3 tag is no longer accompanied by "high-reward." |

Sun Dec 2 2012 | 18:11 | James Jones totals 40 yards, TD in Week 13 |
James Jones caught two passes for 40 yards and a touchdown versus the Vikings in Week 13. |
Jones appeared to be on his way to a monster game in the first quarter, but his second score was called back on a holding penalty while he was busy doing the Lambeau Leap. He was targeted just the two times and was an afterthought in the final three quarters. On pace for a 59/713/12 stat line, Jones is just a borderline WR3 option going forward. |

Mon Nov 26 2012 | 18:04 | Giants scheme to blame for Jones' goose egg |
Packers OC Tom Clements blamed the Giants' scheme for James Jones' lack of Week 12 involvement in the offense. |
Jones wasn't even targeted. "I'm sure it's frustrating for him," Clements said. "It's frustrating for all of us." The Packers were simply out-coached on Sunday Night Football, as the Giants shut down their passing game with two deep safeties, won the trench battle, and dared Green Bay to run. The Packers don't run the ball effectively. Jones will understandably be hard for fantasy owners to trust in Week 13 coming off the goose egg, but there are brighter box-score days ahead. |

Mon Nov 26 2012 | 08:30 | James Jones disappears in loss to NYG |
James Jones was held without a catch or target in the Packers' Week 12 loss to the Giants. |
Jones simply wasn't part of the gameplan once again. The Packers focused on the run game even when they fell behind big, rushing 23 times compared to 25 pass attempts. When Aaron Rodgers did drop back, his first read was Randall Cobb. Over the last two weeks, Jones has totaled two catches for 33 yards with no touchdowns and Greg Jennings (groin) is now expected back. He must be on fantasy benches against the Vikings in Week 13. |
