Mon Jan 16 201217:24Charles Woodson due $4M bonus in April
Packers CB Charles Woodson is due a $4 million roster bonus in April.
Woodson, who turned 35 in October, is due a combined $11.5 million in 2012, including bonuses and salary. While Woodson is still playing at a high enough level that his cap number isn't particularly prohibitive, it's at least fair to wonder if youth-focused GM Ted Thompson would ask him to take a pay cut. Woodson finished the 2011 regular season with 74 tackles and seven interceptions.

Mon Dec 5 201116:18Charles Woodson expected to play Sunday
Packers coach Mike McCarthy said Monday that CB Charles Woodson (head) will "probably" be ready to play in Week 14.
It sounds like Woodson avoided a concussion in the fourth quarter of Sunday's win over the Giants. He should be all systems go to face his former team, the Raiders. On the season, Woodson has two sacks, a forced fumble, and a team-high six interceptions. His career high for interceptions is nine, set in 2009.

Packers CB Charles Woodson left Sunday's game in the fourth quarter with a head injury.
It could be a concussion. Woodson sustained the injury trying to tackle Ahmad Bradshaw. He's officially questionable to return after being sent to locker room, though we wouldn't expect to see him back on the field.

Charles Woodson participated in a Wednesday practice for the first time all season this week.
Woodson had been practicing on Fridays only due to minor foot and knee issues. Now he's getting healthier and remains an elite corner at age 35. Through six games, Woodson has three interceptions, one sack and four passes defensed. Christian Ponder has a stiff test in his first career start.

Thu Aug 4 201109:34Charles Woodson practicing in full
Charles Woodson (broken collarbone) is practicing in full at Packers camp.
Woodson broke his collarbone in the Super Bowl but has completely healed. He fell on his shoulder this week and bounced right back onto his feet. It's huge for the Packers, as Woodson has forced more turnovers (interceptions, fumbles forced and fumbles recovered) than any player in the league since 2006. The Packers are our No. 1 fantasy defense.

Tue May 17 201113:25Woodson's collarbone feels 'fine'
Charles Woodson's collarbone, broken in the Super Bowl, feels "fine," and the seven-time Pro Bowler expects to be ready for the start of the season.
Woodson avoided surgery on the collarbone. The Packers will resist the temptation to move the 14-year veteran to safety after he closed out 2010 with 92 tackles, two sacks, two interceptions and five forced fumbles. Woodson plans to play in Green Bay for as long as the Packers will have him.

Mon Apr 11 201115:36Packers have protection in Woodson's contract
Charles Woodson is due a $4 million roster bonus on the 30th day of the "new league year" in 2012.
The Packers didn't give Woodson his two-year extension last September without protecting themselves. Combined with a $6.5 million salary and $1 million in per-game roster bonuses, Woodson will be due $11.5 million in 2012. Green Bay will certainly be willing to pay the sum if Woodson continues his elite play in 2011. But he will be 36 years old in October of 2012.

Fri Mar 4 201110:49Woodson won't be moving to safety in 2011
Coach Mike McCarthy shot down the idea of moving Charles Woodson to safety in 2011.
"There's no question, the closer you get him to the football the more plays he's going to make," McCarthy said. "It's something we're very conscientious of. But he can still go in there and play one-on-one." Woodson was willing to make the move if it meant the Packers would go after Nnamdi Asomugha. That's not going to happen, either.

Tue Feb 22 201109:13Charles Woodson willing to move to safety
Charles Woodson is willing to move from left corner to safety if the Packers can sign free agent CB Nnamdi Asomugha.
Asomugha was Woodson's teammate in Oakland from 2003-2006, although he insists he's "not doing any recruiting," and the two have only "texted a few times about winning a Super Bowl." Woodson can probably save his text messages, because the last time Packers GM Ted Thompson made a pricey free agent move, it was April 2006. We'll let you guess who he signed.

Mon Feb 7 201110:44Woodson won't need surgery
Charles Woodson said he doesn't believe he'll need surgery to repair his broken collarbone.
Surgery to repair this kind of injury usually is only necessary if the bone is displaced or there are bone fragments. Clean breaks heal on their own and it looks like that is what Woodson has. He'll be fine within a few months, much like Tony Romo was.

Sun Feb 6 201123:02Woodson suffers broken collarbone in SB XLV
Packers CB Charles Woodson's Super Bowl-ending injury has been diagnosed as a broken collarbone.
"I'm a champion. It doesn't matter," said Woodson. Per ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Packers' leader tried to address his teammates at halftime but was too emotional to continue. The 34-year-old Pro Bowler has a full offseason to recover.

Sun Feb 6 201120:32Packers lose Pro Bowler Woodson for 2nd half
Packers CB Charles Woodson is out for the second half of the Super Bowl after sustaining a collarbone injury late in the second quarter.
Woodson is sporting a sling on his left arm. It's an unfortunate end to the season for the 13-year warrior and a huge blow to the Packers' defense. The Green Bay secondary could still be set to weather the Steelers' second-half passing attack if nickel Sam Shields can return from his own shoulder injury. If Jarrett Bush is forced into the starting lineup, though, it's going to be easy pickings for Ben Roethlisberger. The Packers injuries could level the playing field the rest of the way.
Sun Feb 6 201120:00Packers DBs Woodson, Shields banged up
Packers CB Charles Woodson was sent to the locker room with an apparent left shoulder injury late in the second quarter of the Super Bowl.
Woodson suffered the injury one play after nickelback Sam Shields went down with an arm injury of his own. With both corners out, the Steelers drove for a touchdown just before the half. Though the Packers will enjoy a comfortable lead going into halftime, the health of the secondary could be a major story in the second half.
Fri Dec 10 201017:15Charles Woodson listed as probable
Despite spraining his ankle in practice earlier this week, Packers LCB Charles Woodson is listed as probable for Week 14.
He'll start against the Lions. Woodson covers the slot when opponents use three-receiver formations, and Nate Burleson kicks from split end inside in those sets for Detroit. They'll likely be matching up often on Sunday.

Thu Dec 9 201012:23Woodson returns to practice Thursday
Packers LCB Charles Woodson (ankle) participated in the jog-through portion of Thursday's practice.
The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel's Tom Silverstein says that Woodson didn't appear to be limping. It's a good sign for his chances of playing this weekend, but we'd feel better if he's able to get in a little more practice Friday. Check back for updates.

Wed Dec 8 201014:21Charles Woodson sprains his ankle in practice
Packers LCB Charles Woodson sprained his ankle in Wednesday's practice, and his status for Week 14 is unknown.
Woodson is "being evaluated right now." A high ankle sprain could knock him out for Sunday's matchup with the Lions, and in such a winnable game the Packers may hold Woodson out even if the sprain is of the lateral variety. The 2009 Defensive Player of the Year has two interceptions on the season.
