Tue Mar 11 201423:26Bolts sign Donald Brown for 3 years, $10.5M
Chargers agreed to terms with RB Donald Brown, formerly of the Colts, on a three-year, $10.5 million contract.
The deal includes $4 million guaranteed. With the Chargers already having Danny Woodhead and Ryan Mathews, this one is a definite head scratcher. Mathews is coming off a breakout year, while Woodhead is due just $1.75 million after another strong season. It's worth noting that Bolts GM Tom Telesco is the Colts' former VP of football operations. He clearly has a soft spot for "Dammit Donald," who seemed like a lost cause until picking up the pieces for Trent Richardson last season. He'll likely serve as a deluxe Ronnie Brown, catching passes and picking up blitzes, though he's never been a terribly effective pass protector.

Sat Mar 8 201414:28Titans could pursue free agent running backs
The Nashville Tennessean's Jim Wyatt "wouldn't be surprised" if the Titans "poked around" free agents Donald Brown and Ben Tate.
Both Tate and Brown have spent the past four years in the Titans' division. Brown shredded Tennessee in two games with the Colts last season, and would be a more logical committee partner for Shonn Greene. Tate would figure to become the Titans' clear feature back. He has far more talent than Greene.

Tue Jan 14 201410:44Colts to make an effort to bring back Brown?
The Colts are expected to make impending free agent Donald Brown a "reasonable offer."
The light finally flipped on for "Dammit Donald" in his fifth NFL season as he rushed 102 times for 537 yards (5.26 YPC) with six touchdowns. The Colts can't afford to overpay him though, as they've already given up the No. 26 overall pick in the draft for Trent Richardson. Vick Ballard (torn ACL) is also expected to return healthy. Brown is our No. 8 unrestricted free agent running back available.

Sun Jan 12 201400:16Donald Brown rushes for 63 yards in victory
Donald Brown rushed 17 times for 63 yards in Indianapolis' Divisional Round loss to the Patriots.
He added one catch for three yards. Brown out-touched Trent Richardson 18-3, and 33-4 for the postseason. An impending free agent, Brown hits the open market on the back of his best campaign as a pro. Both his 5.3 yards per carry and six rushing touchdowns were new career highs, as was his 27/214/2 line as a receiver. Brown is never going to live up to his first-round pedigree, but has morphed from "Dammit Donald" to a solid pro. He's Rotoworld's No. 8 free-agent back. The Colts are all but certain to handcuff T-Rich with a veteran free agent who could be thrust into a starting role, and there's a strong chance they stick with Brown.

Sun Dec 29 201317:24Donald Brown gets 15 touches in Week 17
Donald Brown rushed 12 times for 31 yards and a touchdown and caught three passes for four yards in the Colts' Week 17 win over the Jaguars.
Brown opened Sunday's scoring with a one-yard goal-line leap over the top to give Indy an early 7-0 lead. They wouldn't trail from then on. Brown finishes the best regular season of his career with a 102-557-6 line as a rusher and 27 receptions, two of which went for scores. He'll remain the more dynamic half of a timeshare with Trent Richardson during January's playoffs.

Thu Dec 19 201312:32Donald Brown practicing again for Colts
Donald Brown (stinger) is practicing again Thursday.
Brown has been fully cleared and is ready to rock. Unfortunately, he'll has a tough spot at Kansas City and will be sharing reps with Trent Richardson. Fantasy owners in Super Bowls should be reaching higher.

Wed Dec 18 201312:24Donald Brown shakes off stinger, good to go
Donald Brown (stinger) is practicing Wednesday.
So much for owners dusting the cobwebs off Trent Richardson in fantasy's Super Bowl week. Brown's stinger turned out to be a mere scare and it looks like he's been cleared to suit up against the Chiefs Sunday. He'll form a value-crushing committee with T-Rich while newly signed Shaun Draughn sticks to special teams.

Mon Dec 16 201316:15Donald Brown (stinger) listed as day to day
The Colts consider Donald Brown (stinger) day to day.
We're assuming the "stinger" is to Brown's neck, though there's been no official word. It's a day-to-day injury, but as Cowboys ILB Sean Lee has proven, it can be an extremely tricky one. Brown should be considered no better than 50-50 for Week 16. Trent Richardson turned in a predictably middling performance in Brown's absence against the Texans, and wouldn't be more than a mid-range FLEX option for the fantasy finals if Brown can't go.

Mon Dec 2 201311:24Donald Brown 'earned' chance to start
Coach Chuck Pagano said he started Donald Brown Sunday because Brown he "earned the opportunity."
Brown has been badly outplaying Trent Richardson ever since the trade with Cleveland. The situation came to a head against the Titans as Brown played 52 snaps and Richardson saw just 13. "We're always trying to just make decisions based on what's best for the team and what gives us the best chance to win," Pagano said. Brown will be the feature back against the Bengals in Week 14, leaving T-Rich as a change-of-pace option.

Sun Nov 24 201319:46Donald Brown loses yards in Week 12 loss
Donald Brown rushed for one yards on two carries and caught one pass for a two-yard loss in Week 12 against the Cardinals.
The Colts were getting blown out early, so you'd think Brown would have been a bigger part of the offense with the Colts throwing the ball a ton. That wasn't the case. Trent Richardson was the guy in the backfield. He didn't have any success once again, totaling 26 yards on nine touches. Brown and the Colts get the Titans at home next week. Brown rushed for 80 yards and two touchdowns against them in Week 11. He's the preferred flex play in the Indy backfield.

Sat Nov 16 201312:41Colts not expected to start Donald Brown
The Indianapolis Star does not anticipate the Colts promoting Donald Brown into the starting lineup over Trent Richardson.
Coach Chuck Pagano indicated the Colts will "ride the hot hand," and Brown has had it for most of the year in Indy. The Colts are still expected to "continue to divide carries" between disappointing in-season acquisition Richardson and normal change-of-pace back Brown. If "a guy gets hot, you can always go with the hot hand," Pagano said. "But I like the way we're doing things now."

Thu Nov 14 201323:56Donald Brown totals 94 yards, 2 TDs in win
Donald Brown rushed 14 times for 80 yards and two touchdowns in Indianapolis' Week 11 win over the Titans, adding one catch for 14 yards.
As has become custom, Brown out-gained Trent Richardson 94-53, and out-touched him 8-2 in the fourth quarter. Brown was on the field for all the Colts' biggest plays, and averaged 5.7 yards per carry to T-Rich's 2.8. Brown had some very impressive runs, finding the hole quickly and getting up field in a hurry. Basically, the opposite of what Richardson has been doing. Having now out-gained T-Rich in two straight games, and three of the past four, Brown will be the Colts' running back to FLEX in Week 12 against the Cardinals' sturdy run defense.

Mon Nov 4 201300:23Donald Brown rushes for 49 yards on SNF
Donald Brown rushed six times for 49 yards in Sunday night's Week 9 win over the Texans.
Brown played behind Trent Richardson in a change-of-pace role and continues to be the more effective back. He was limited to just six carries with the Colts playing from behind in the second half and didn't factor into the passing game. Brown should continue to cut into Richardson's workload going forward and is the preferred passing down option. He's still nothing more than a RB4 in re-draft leagues.

Mon Oct 21 201301:28Donald Brown totals 64 yards in win
Donald Brown had 11 carries for 23 yards in Sunday night's Week 7 win over the Broncos.
He added three catches for 42 yards. Brown had by far his biggest workload of the season, but failed to do anything with his carries. He was used in a committee with Trent Richardson in the second half and remains the Colts preferred passing-down back. Brown has limited fantasy value, but isn't worth owning as a handcuff to Richardson.

Tue Oct 15 201301:02Donald Brown rushed for 15 yards on MNF
Donald Brown rushed for 15 yards on three carries in Week 6 against the Chargers.
Brown reeled in both of his passing-game targets for 19 yards. He's nothing more than a change-of-pace back. Brown is off the fantasy radar.
