Wed Aug 3 202216:23Brayan Bello Injured Wednesday
Boston Red Sox rookie right-hander Brayan Bello (groin) left his outing on Wednesday against the Houston Astros with a left groin strain. Bello was trying to eat up some innings after lefty starter Rich Hill made his return from the injured list on Wednesday, but Bello was forced out after just two-thirds of an inning pitched. There's a good chance that the 23-year-old will require a trip to the injured list, but stay tuned for more details on his injury. Bello was making just his fifth major league appearance in Wednesday's game, and he entered the contest having allowed a whopping 16 earned runs on 26 hits while walking 11 and striking out 13 in 16 1/3 innings pitched in four outings (three starts).

Sat Jul 23 202213:01Brayan Bello Likely To Start Sunday
Boston Red Sox top pitching prospect Brayan Bello, who was recalled from the minors on Friday, is the leading candidate to start on Sunday against the Toronto Blue Jays. Bello struggled in his first two major league starts, allowing nine earned runs on 13 hits while walking six and striking out seven in eight innings against the Tampa Bay Rays. The 23-year-old Dominican right-hander has been much better between Double-A Portland and Triple-A Worcester in the minors, though, posting a 2.35 ERA in 16 outings (15 starts) with 118 strikeouts and 34 walks in 88 innings pitched. The team's No. 3 prospect, per MLB Pipeline, is worth picking up in deeper leagues if he sticks in Boston's rotation, but he'll be a shaky streamer in just his third MLB start Sunday.

Fri Jul 8 202207:49Brayan Bello Will Get A Second Start On Monday
Boston Red Sox pitching prospect Brayan Bello is remaining with the big league club for now and he will make his second MLB start on Monday, facing the Tampa Bay Rays once again. Bello has been absolutely dominant in the minors this year, compiling a 2.33 ERA and a 1.04 WHIP while averaging 12.1 K/9 across Double-A and Triple-A. He struggled in his MLB debut this past week, allowing six hits, three walks and four earned runs over four innings against the Rays. After the All-Star break -- if not sooner -- Bello will likely be back at Triple-A. The Red Sox have several starting pitchers trending towards their returns. Chris Sale (ribs) will be back on Tuesday and Nathan Eovaldi (back) and Rich Hill (knee) aren't far off either. Because of this, Bello can remain on waivers in most redraft leagues.

Mon May 16 202218:21Brayan Bello Promoted To Triple-A
Boston Red Sox pitching prospect Brayan Bello will be promoted from Double-A to Triple-A, according to Red Sox beat writer Chris Cotillo. Bello is ranked as the team's top pitching prospect by MLB Pipeline. The 22-year-old right-hander has been excellent this year at Double-A. Over six starts, he's gone 4-2 with a 1.60 ERA and 0.83 WHIP while averaging 11.2 K/9. His fastball has been seeing an average velocity in the high-90s this year while topping out at 100 mph. He also mixes in a changeup and a slider. If his strong year continues, there's a chance we could see him make his MLB debut sooner rather than later.
