Fri Jul 12 201313:59Cumberland among "Jets West" attendees
Jets TE Jeff Cumberland is among the club's skill-position players working out with Mark Sanchez in California.
This is a big season for Cumberland. He's in a contract year, and he has a chance to get some of the targets that went to the departed Dustin Keller. Cumberland, who's shown he can get downfield, could merit a look late in drafts if it's clear he's the go-to-guy at the position.

Sat Jun 8 201322:08Jets TE Cumberland lobbying for bigger role
The Newark Star-Ledger reports TE Jeff Cumberland remains the in-house favorite to replace Dustin Keller.
Cumberland is coming off a career year in 2012 and the Jets haven't made any upgrades at the tight end position. Hayden Smith has reportedly "impressed" during OTAs, but is not expected to compete for the starting job. Cumberland was targeted 52 times last season and could be asked to take on a bigger role in the passing game.

Mon Apr 8 201317:49Jets re-sign Jeff Cumberland
Jets re-signed restricted free agent TE Jeff Cumberland to a one-year, $1.323 million contract.
Cumberland, 26 in May, recorded 29 receptions for 359 yards (12.4 YPR) and three touchdowns last season, starting 12-of-15 appearances. He's the in-house favorite to replace Dustin Keller, although GM John Idzik is said to be high on second-round prospect Zach Ertz. Cumberland is an upright, stiff receiving tight end with a limited ceiling. He's unlikely to emerge as a fantasy asset.

Fri Mar 8 201312:22Jets tender RFA Cumberland at lowest level
Jets tendered restricted free agent TE Jeff Cumberland at the original-round level.
It comes with a $1.323 million price. The Jets had been considering a second-round tender, which would have cost $2.023 million. Since Cumberland was an undrafted free agent, the Jets would receive no draft-pick compensation if he signed elsewhere and they chose not to match. Cumberland is unlikely to be pursued.

The Jets are considering tendering restricted free agent TE Jeff Cumberland at the second-round level.

Sun Dec 30 201217:53Cumberland finishes Week 17 with 36 yards
Jets TE Jeff Cumberland caught three passes for 36 yards in Week 17.
The 36 yards put a bow on Cumberland's 2012 season, which saw him finish with a stat line of 29-359-3. Cumberland, who turns 26 in May, experienced increased playing time due to Dustin Keller's myriad nagging injuries. The former undrafted free agent out of Illinois would be best served returning in a reserve role for 2013. Cumberland is scheduled for restricted free agency.

Tue Dec 18 201200:38Cumberland finds the end zone again in Wk 15
Jeff Cumberland led the Jets with four catches for 53 yards and a touchdown in Monday night's Week 15 loss to the Titans.
Cumberland was targeted a team-high nine times on the night, and two of those Mark Sanchez passes were picked off. Filling in for Dustin Keller in the starting lineup, the lumbering Cumberland is a perfect match for the weak-armed Sanchez as an underneath receiver. His touchdown came from 17 yards out in the third quarter where he beat special teams LB Tim Shaw with ease. Cumberland holds no fantasy value.
