Wed Dec 19 201212:11Brady Quinn, not Stanzi, to start for Chiefs
Brady Quinn (ribs) will start Sunday's game against the Colts.
Quinn's rib injury turned out to be a mere scare. He earns the honor of getting back under center behind a decimated offensive line and trying to throw to receivers that can't separate. Over the last two games, Quinn has completed just 52.8 percent of his passes and the Chiefs have scored a total of seven points. It's a bad sign for Ricky Stanzi's future that he can't even get a late-season look here.

Mon Dec 17 201215:15Brady Quinn has rib injury
Brady Quinn is being evaluated for a rib injury.
Quinn never checked out of Sunday's shutout loss, so it's doubtful his injury is anything serious. Since leading the Chiefs past the Panthers in Week 13, Quinn has completed just 28-of-53 passes for 295 yards, zero scores and two interceptions. The journeyman former first-round pick is going to have trouble finding back-up work in 2013.

Sun Dec 16 201219:47Brady Quinn held to 136 yards in shutout loss
Brady Quinn completed 18-of-32 passes for 136 yards and an interception at Oakland in Week 15.
Quinn's offense failed to dent the scoreboard against a defense allowing the most points in the NFL. The Chiefs didn't even cross midfield until the third quarter. Quinn had a chance to score late in the game, but ended up taking a delay of game call on 4th-and-goal. He's been held under 200 yards in seven of eight games this season.

Sun Dec 9 201216:03Brady Quinn held to no TDs, INT & 159 yards
Brady Quinn completed 11-of-22 passes for 159 yards, no touchdowns, and an interception in the Chiefs' Week 14 loss to Cleveland.
Quinn predictably couldn't carry his Week 13 magic over into this game. He absorbed five sacks, threw with typical inaccuracy, and Kansas City's offense simply didn't move when Quinn wasn't handing the ball to Jamaal Charles. Even against a porous Raiders pass defense in Week 15, Quinn will be a bottom-barrel two-quarterback league option. Ideally, he'd be on fantasy waiver wires.

Sun Dec 2 201216:15Brady Quinn throws for 201 yards, two TDs
Brady Quinn completed 19-of-23 attempts for 201 yards and two touchdowns against the Panthers.
Quinn was only sacked once and was able to maneuver through the little pressure he faced in the pocket. The Chiefs were helped by a sustainable running game, but Quinn led them to victory due to a lack of mistakes. He added 12 rushing yards on three carries.

Sun Nov 18 201217:37Brady Quinn struggles in relief of Cassel
Coming on in relief of a benched Matt Cassel, Brady Quinn completed 9-of-14 passes for 95 yards with no touchdowns or interceptions in the Chiefs' Week 11 loss to the Bengals.
Cassel was benched at halftime. Quinn, of course, didn't fare much better as the Chiefs couldn't sustain drives and only got positive plays out of Jamaal Charles. Quinn will likely start against the Broncos next week, but he's not even a real option in two-QB formats. Top wideout Dwayne Bowe has a neck injury and Quinn has thrown 10 touchdowns in 18 career NFL games.

Sun Nov 18 201211:59Brady Quinn likely to start Week 12
Beat writer Adam Teicher expects Brady Quinn to start in Week 12 unless Matt Cassel "lights it up" in Week 11.
Quinn has been medically cleared from his concussion, but the Chiefs have chosen to go with Matt Cassel against the Bengals anyway. It will likely be Cassel's last week under center for a little while. The chances of him lighting it up Sunday behind a decimated offensive line are slim. Cassel has 19 turnovers in eight games so far this season.

Thu Nov 15 201218:35Report: Quinn cleared for game action
Brady Quinn (concussion) was reportedly cleared for game action on Thursday.
We see this confusion on a regular basis. Players must pass a higher threshold to gain clearance for games. There is often another hurdle they must clear after first gaining clearance to practice. Quinn is expected to serve as Matt Cassel's backup in Week 11.

Wed Nov 14 201216:14Brady Quinn practicing on Wednesday
Brady Quinn (concussion) was a full participant in Wednesday's practice.
It looks like Chiefs coach Romeo Crennel was confused again. Quinn revealed Tuesday he'd been cleared, but Crennel said that wasn't the case Wednesday morning. A full practice certainly suggests Quinn was right. Crennel is waffling on who will start against the Bengals, but it won't matter from a fantasy perspective. You'll be in deep trouble if either Quinn or Cassel is your QB2.

Tue Nov 13 201209:06Brady Quinn says he's been cleared to return
Chiefs QB Brady Quinn (concussion) said he's been cleared to play.
Quinn was examined by a Pittsburgh doctor Monday for 90 minutes and was given the green light. He says he's available to play in the Week 11 game against the Bengals. Coach Romeo Crennel initially insisted Quinn would get the starting job back from Matt Cassel once cleared, but he's declined to comment on the issue recently. Over the last two games, Cassel has completed 30-of-55 passes for 335 yards with no touchdowns and two interceptions. The Chiefs are riding a six-game losing streak.

Thu Nov 8 201210:38Quinn admits he played through concussion
Brady Quinn admitted that he ignored concussion symptoms during the Week 8 loss to the Raiders.
Quinn was desperate to stay in the game so he could take advantage of a starting opportunity. It turned out to be a mistake. He still hasn't been medically cleared and took a visit to a specialist in Pittsburgh this week. Matt Cassel will start Monday's game against the Steelers.

Mon Nov 5 201215:28Brady Quinn (concussion) yet to be cleared
Brady Quinn (concussion) has yet to be cleared to resume practicing, but the Chiefs haven't ruled him out for Week 10.
He'll presumably be re-evaluated on Tuesday. Quinn is expected to continue starting over Matt Cassel when healthy, but it won't matter much who's under center against the Steelers on Sunday. Neither player will have a prayer against a defense allowing the fewest yards in the league. It's still not out of the question a desperate Romeo Crennel will eventually turn to third-stringer Ricky Stanzi.

Tue Oct 30 201212:06Brady Quinn ruled out of Thursday
Brady Quinn (head) has been ruled out of Thursday's game against the Chargers.
The Chiefs still haven't referred to Quinn's injury as a concussion, but it's assumed that's the case. Coach Romeo Crennel has stated that Quinn is his starter when healthy. Matt Cassel will be under center Thursday and Ricky Stanzi will be the backup.

Mon Oct 29 201212:59Brady Quinn not at facility Monday
Brady Quinn (head) was not at the Chiefs' practice facility Monday.
Quinn was getting tested for a possible concussion, leaving Matt Cassel to take the first-team reps. With the Chiefs playing the Thursday night game this week, it will be almost impossible for Quinn to get cleared.

Mon Oct 29 201209:56Chiefs' QB job still belongs to Brady Quinn
Coach Romeo Crennel said Brady Quinn (head) is still his starter if healthy.
Quinn left Sunday's loss to the Raiders with a possible concussion and didn't return. Considering the Chiefs travel to San Diego for a Thursday night game this week, his chances of getting medically cleared appear slim. Matt Cassel got banged up by the Raiders as well, but will likely be under center for the 1-6 Chiefs. Ricky Stanzi is the third-stringer.

Sun Oct 28 201216:50Brady Quinn leaves early with head injury
Brady Quinn left the Chiefs' Week 8 game against the Raiders with a second-quarter "head" injury.
Matt Cassel, ironically, came onto the field to cheers. Highly inaccurate, Quinn overthrew a wide-open Dwayne Bowe on Kansas City's first drive and paid for another overthrow on the third possession when his high-sailing pass was easily picked off by Raiders S Matt Giordano. Quinn completed two of only four passes for eight yards and an interception. He did rush twice for 18 yards.

Mon Oct 22 201215:23Crennel: no quick for Brady Quinn at QB
Coach Romeo Crennel confirms Brady Quinn is now the Chiefs' starting quarterback regardless of Matt Cassel's health.
"I want him to be the starting quarterback without looking over his shoulder," Crennel said. "There's going to be no quick hook." It's understandable that the Chiefs don't want to turn back to Cassel, but if Quinn plays anything like he has through the first five years of his career, the Chiefs may soon be looking forward to third-stringer Ricky Stanzi. Quinn is a bottom of the barrel option in even exceptionally deep two-QB leagues. Whomever the Chiefs' GM is next winter is going to be searching for a new quarterback.

Wed Oct 17 201209:29Brady Quinn unlikely to beat out Cassel
ESPN's Bill Williamson believes Brady Quinn would have to "clearly outshine" Matt Cassel in practice to win the starting quarterback job.
Even though Cassel (concussion) has gained clearance for non-contact work, he'll split reps equally with Quinn during the bye week. "I understand there is potential speculation," coach Romeo Crennel said. "What-ifs and what-ands, but my stance is... both of them will get work. Then we'll evaluate it. Next week, we'll get ready for game week, and we'll make a decision." Quinn faceplanted in his Week 6 spot-start, managing just 180 yards with no touchdowns and two interceptions in an ugly 38-10 loss.
