Sun Dec 26 201009:58Cowboys will add a quarterback this week
Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has said the team will add a quarterback for Week 17.
This comes off the heels of Jon Kitna's Week 16 injury on Saturday night. Look for the Cowboys to add a veteran signal caller for the season's final game. The starter for Week 17 is currently unknown.

Sun Dec 26 201001:11Kitna iffy for Week 17
Cowboys QB Jon Kitna looks iffy for Week 17 at Philadephia after his post-game press conference.
"I can't do any athletic movements and things that require any torque. We tried to do what we could to block the pain. We were hoping it was a hip-pointer but it's more. An abdominal strain, left oblique" said the 38-year-old veteran. Kitna looked like he had settled down somewhat after two early pick-sixes put the Cowboys in a hole on Christmas night. Although owner Jerry Jones wants to finish the season on a high note, coach Jason Garrett may be forced to instead go with second-year QB Stephen McGee, who played well in relief after Kitna went down before halftime.

Sat Dec 25 201020:58Kitna heads to locker room early Week 16
Jon Kitna, who briefly left the Week 16 game with a hip injury before returning, has headed to the locker room before halftime for further examination.
Give Kitna credit for gutting out a sore hip, returning to action, and throwing a TD pass that put Dallas back in the game. Stephen McGee will at least finish out the first half under center for the Cowboys while Kitna's hip is attended to by the training staff.
Tue Dec 21 201016:58Garrett: Kitna won't be pulled for McGee
Interim coach Jason Garrett confirmed Tuesday that QB Stephen McGee will only play in the final two games if starter Jon Kitna is unable to play due to injury.
The Cowboys are averaging 32.2 points per game over the past six weeks while Kitna has directed them to a 4-2 record. There's no reason to turn to McGee with Kitna under contract to back up Tony Romo again in 2011.

Wed Dec 15 201009:19Kitna to remain at quarterback
The Cowboys will stick with Jon Kitna at quarterback until they reach a decision on Tony Romo (collarbone).
With the Cowboys officially out of playoff contention, some have called for giving Stephen McGee a look. Owner Jerry Jones values finishing a season strongly, though, so the Cowboys will stick with the player that gives them the best chance to win. Romo could possibly be back for the final two games.

Mon Dec 13 201000:35Kitna has solid fantasy day in Week 14 loss
Jon Kitna completed 24 of 35 passes for 242 yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions in a Week 14 divisional loss to the Eagles. He also rushed thrice for an impressive 27 yards.
One of his two picks was off Miles Austin's hands. Kitna had precious little time in the pocket thanks to furious Eagle blitzing schemes and lackluster protection from his offensive line. As a result, most of Kitna's passes were short, the 27 rushing yards were more a byproduct of Kitna running for his life, and he was unable to consistently involve Austin in the passing attack despite facing an Eagles secondary missing top cornerback Asante Samuel. The QB2 gets another plus-matchup when the Redskins come to Dallas Week 15.
Sun Dec 5 201020:13Kitna doesn't make a mistake, leads team to W
Jon Kitna completed 18-of-26 passes for 167 yards and one touchdown and added four scrambles for 28 yards in the Cowboys' Week 13 win over the Colts.
Kitna was magnificent throughout the game, though his performance was highlighted in an 18 play 81 yard drive capped off by a Jason Witten touchdown reception to put the team up 7 with 2:30 left to play. With the team clicking on offense and winning football games, it's hard to imagine Kitna being pulled in favor of Tony Romo. He has QB2 value down the stretch.
Thu Nov 25 201022:03Kitna throws for 313 yards as Cowboys fall
Jon Kitna completed 30-of-42 passes for 313 yards, no touchdowns, and an interception in the Cowboys' Week 12 loss to the Saints.
It took a full half for the Cowboys to find a rhythm, but Kitna at least gave them a fighting chance with accurate passing in the dink-and-dunk second-half offense. If not for Roy Williams' late-game fumble that gave New Orleans the ball back, Kitna might have emerged as a hero for Dallas' third straight win. Instead, Williams was the goat. Consider Kitna a QB2 going forward.
Sun Nov 21 201016:13Jon Kitna racks up 4 TDs as Cowboys win again
Jon Kitna completed 18-of-24 passes for 147 yards with three touchdowns and no interceptions to go with a 29-yard rushing touchdown in Sunday's 35-19 win over the Lions.
The Cowboys are hoping to get Tony Romo for the final few games of the year, but Kitna is handling himself very well. He now has two 300-yard passing days and two three-touchdown days in his four starts. The rushing yards came on a fluky bootleg, but there's nothing fluky about Kitna's passing numbers. With these weapons, it's hard for him not to succeed.
Sun Nov 14 201019:46Kitna's big day helps coach Garrett win debut
Jon Kitna completed 13-of-22 passes for 327 yards with three touchdowns and one interception in Sunday's 33-20 win over the Giants.
Interim coach Jason Garrett gets a win in his debut with relative ease, in part thanks to Kitna's impressive day. The ridiculous 25.1 yards per completion for Kitna highlights why he's an intriguing fantasy option -- the Cowboys' weapons are among the best in the league after the catch. Kitna, who now has two 300-yard games in his three starts, gets a tasty matchup with the Lions next week.
Sun Nov 7 201023:31Kitna picked off twice in loss
Jon Kitna completed 19-of-30 passes for 183 yards and a touchdown with two interceptions in the Week 9 loss to the Packers.
Kitna's first interception was particularly poor, as he severely underthrew Miles Austin down the sideline and watched Sam Shields pick him off. On his second interception, he had a ball batted right into the arms of Clay Matthews, who ran the ball back for a score. Kitna has now thrown six interceptions the last two weeks.
Sun Oct 31 201017:41Kitna goes for 379 yards in loss to Jags
Jon Kitna completed 34-of-49 passes for 379 yards with one touchdown and four interceptions in Sunday's loss to the Jaguars.
Two of the interceptions were clearly not Kitna's fault as balls bounced off receivers hands. All in all, the 38-year-old Kitna handled himself very well in his first start since 2008. He stood tall in the pocket, was highly accurate and showed a strong arm. Kitna proved that he can be a QB2 with upside until Tony Romo (clavicle) gets back.
Tue Oct 26 201001:49Jon Kitna throws for two TDs, is now starter
Jon Kitna completed 16-of-33 passes for 187 yards and two touchdowns after coming in for an injured Tony Romo early in the second quarter in Week 7.
Kitna will lead America's team for at least the next six weeks. There are a ton of weapons at his disposal, so there's no reason to believe he can't be a solid QB2. The Jaguars' excuse for a secondary is on tap for Week 8, which should make Kitna one of the top quarterback adds in all formats.
