Saints re-signed K Shayne Graham to a one-year contract.

The Saints finally threw in the towel on Garrett Hartley in 2013, replacing him with 36-year-old Graham. Graham missed from 45 and 48 yards in New Orleans' Divisional Round loss to Seattle, but went 6-for-6 in his other three games with the team. Assuming Graham beats out Derek Dimke -- and he should with ease -- he'll be in the fantasy football conversation in 2014.

Graham worked out for the Saints last month when they were browsing free-agent kickers with Garrett Harltey struggling. Hartley never improved and was cut Tuesday. Graham spent a week with the Steelers earlier this season but never attempted a kick. He made 31-of-38 field goals for the Texans last season.

CB Isaiah Green was promoted from the practice squad in a corresponding roster move. Graham was no longer needed with K Shaun Suisham (hamstring) back to full health.

Graham, 35, made 31-of-38 field goals with the Texans in 2012. He was just 4-of-9 from 50-plus yards out, and has never been great from long distance. Graham and Brandon Bogotay are the two kickers under contract in Cleveland. Long-time veteran Phil Dawson moved on to the 49ers as a free agent.

Graham was added to give fifth-round pick Randy Bullock some competition. Now 34 years old, the NFL's fourth most accurate field goal kicker of all time has yet to find full-time work since leaving Cincinnati after the 2009 season.

Graham nailed two field and two extra points as a replacement for Billy Cundiff two weeks ago. His release is a sign that the Ravens are confident in Cundiff's calf heading into the postseason.

Billy Cundiff's left calf injury has become a major concern. With two misses from 39 yards or less in the last two weeks, he's likely to get a couple weeks off. If active, Graham will be a desperation fantasy play against the Browns this week.

Dan Carpenter (groin) is ready to resume kicking duties for the Dolphins. During his two-game stint with Miami, Graham went 4-of-5 on field goals, with all four of his makes coming from 29 yards out or less.

The Cowboys will roll with undrafted rookie Dan Bailey as their field goal kicker, and David Buehler as a kickoff specialist. It's a jumbled situation, and one to shy away from in fantasy leagues. Graham and Rayner both struggled in the preseason. No. 5 kicker Kai Forbath is on the reserve/PUP list.

With David Buehler (hip) sidelined, the Cowboys are looking for a fresh leg to compete with Danny Bailey. At this point, it's an open competition between the three. Fantasy owners can find much safer situations.

Free agent K Shayne Graham visited the Giants Tuesday.

Lawrence Tynes (thigh) is questionable for Monday's preseason game against the Bears, so the Giants want to have an alternative on hand. Graham played one game with the G-Men last year, so the coaching staff has a familiarity.

Graham was excellent filling in for an injured Stephen Gostkowski in New England last season, but missed two kicks in the Redskins' preseason opener and was said to be struggling in practice. Graham Gano was among the league's least accurate kickers last season, converting just 24-of-35 field-goal tries, but should now have a stranglehold on kicking duties in Washington.

Graham will compete with holdover Graham Gano. On field-goal accuracy alone, it's a slam-dunk in Graham's favor. Gano does boast one of the strongest legs in the league, but that takes on less importance under the new kickoff rules.
