Thu Nov 28 201314:04Matt Forte back at Bears practice Thursday
Matt Forte (knee) returned to Bears practice Thursday.
Forte will be listed as "limited," but he's fully on track to start Sunday's game against the Vikings. Forte played through his minor hyperextension against the Rams, and appeared to still be operating at 100 percent effectiveness. He's a top-five play for Week 13.

Thu Nov 28 201308:26Bears optimistic on Matt Forte's status
Coach Marc Trestman is fully confident Matt Forte (knee) will play in Sunday's game against the Bears.
Forte slightly hyperextended his right knee against the Rams last week but was able to return to the game. It sounds like he sat out Wednesday's practice as a precaution. "I'm still optimistic that [Forte will play on Sunday]," Trestman said. "I feel pretty good that he'll start getting some work [Thursday]. We'll see where he is at, but I'm going in optimistic."

Wed Nov 27 201314:32Forte (knee) sits out Wednesday's practice
Matt Forte (knee) did not practice Wednesday.
Forte "slightly" hyperextended his knee against the Rams last Sunday. He did some rehab work Tuesday and plans to play this week against the Vikings. It's a tasty matchup for Forte, who will be a top-three fantasy running back play for Week 13. His status will be updated again no later than Thursday.

Mon Nov 25 201314:58Forte 'slightly' hyperextended knee Sunday
Matt Forte "slightly" hyperextended his right knee in Sunday's loss, and the Bears plan to "see where he is at" on Wednesday.
Forte got rolled up in scary fashion, but returned to the game after getting stretched out on the sideline. He missed only a few plays, and looked no worse for the wear upon returning. Our best guess is that the Bears will ration Forte's practice reps, but that he's in no danger of missing Sunday's game against the Vikings.

Sun Nov 17 201313:39Ravens-Bears delayed due to ominous weather
The Ravens-Bears Week 11 game has been delayed due to lightning in the Chicago area.
This is the game that we were all keeping our eyes on weather-wise. The nasty stuff stayed away for kickoff but it reared its head in a hurry. There are tornadoes and dark clouds in the area. The Ravens lead the Bears 10-0 with 4:51 left in the first quarter. The game has been "temporarily suspended" and will not resume any earlier than 2:25 PM ET. So, we're staring at at least a 45-minute delay. This is actually welcome news to Brandon Marshall, Torrey Smith, etc. owners.

Sun Nov 10 201316:48Forte rushes for just 33 yards on 17 carries
Matt Forte rushed for just 33 yards on 17 carries in Week 10 against the Lions.
Forte was targeted seven times in the passing game and picked up another 16 yards on four catches. There just wasn't much space to operate against an enticing defensive tackle duo in Nick Fairley and Ndamukong Suh, who were wreaking havoc all afternoon long. Forte also had a nine-yard rushing touchdown taken off the board due to a holding penalty. Forte will have another tough rushing matchup against the Ravens next Sunday.

Mon Nov 4 201323:43Forte, McCown lead Bears to MNF win over Pack
Matt Forte rushed for 125 yards and one touchdown on 24 carries in Monday night's Week 9, 27-20 win over the Packers.
Forte tacked on another 54 yards on five receptions. He was targeted eight times out of the backfield and is averaging six targets per game after eight contests. Monday night was Forte's third consecutive game he's totaled over 100 yards. His touchdown came from one yard out on second-and-goal after Michael Bush failed to punch it in from the one on first down. Forte had plenty of bounce to his step in this one and was a major part of an 18-play, nearly nine-minute drive at the end of the fourth quarter that sealed the victory. He picked up a first down on fourth-and-inches before taking a toss left on third-and-five for another first down. After eight games, Forte is on pace for 1,948 total yards and 14 touchdowns. He's locked in as a top-five running back. The Lions are up next.

Sun Oct 20 201316:53No vulture: Matt Forte rumbles for three TDs
Matt Forte rushed 16 times for 91 yards with three touchdowns in Sunday's 45-41 Week 7 loss at Washington.
One of Forte's touchdowns came on a slick 50-yard jaunt that included an ankle-breaking jump cut and impressive long speed. But owners will be happier to hear about the two he punched in from inside the 6-yard line as Michael Bush watched. There was not even a thought from the Bears staff to head down the "vulture" route. Forte heads into the bye with six rushing touchdowns in seven games.

Fri Oct 11 201300:00Forte totals 111 yards in win over Giants
Matt Forte rushed 19 times for 67 yards in Chicago's Week 7 win over the Giants, adding six catches for 44 yards.
Forte caught all six of his targets in the passing game, and has now surpassed 100 yards from scrimmage in four of six contests. He's yet to be held below 90 yards. Forte is averaging 5.5 catches per game, and is just 11 off his 2012 receptions total. The well-rounded back is locked in as a high-end RB1. The Bears get the Redskins' 26th ranked run defense in Week 7. Washington is allowing 4.7 yards per carry.

Sun Oct 6 201316:50Forte piles up 95 total yards in Week 5 loss
Matt Forte rushed for 55 yards on 12 carries and caught four passes for 40 yards in Week 5 against the Saints.
Forte didn't have as much running room as his 4.6 YPC would suggest. The Saints were bottling him up early on. Forte was targeted just six times in the passing game. He didn't find the end zone for any touchdowns, but Forte did scamper in untouched on a late two-point conversion. Look for Forte to shred the Giants' wretched defense on Thursday night.

Sun Sep 29 201316:56Matt Forte totals 117 yards in loss to Lions
Matt Forte shined in the Bears' Week 4 loss to the Lions, rushing 14 times for 95 yards and a touchdown while adding five catches for an additional 22 yards.

Mon Sep 23 201300:35Forte totals 111 yards, touchdown in Week 3
Matt Forte rushed 16 times for 87 yards and a touchdown in Sunday night's Week 3 win over the Steelers.
Forte scored his lone touchdown on a goal-line carry in first quarter, but was rotated with Michael Bush in red-zone and short-yardage situations. He added four catches for 24 yards and continues to be a factor in the passing game. Forte was able to play through a foot injury after landing awkwardly on a block in the third quarter. He shouldn't be in any jeopardy of missing next week's matchup with the Lions.

Tue Sep 17 201314:39Matt Forte making an impact as receiver
Matt Forte's 15 receptions and 17 targets lead all running backs through the season's first two weeks.
Forte's 15 grabs are tied with teammate Brandon Marshall for sixth in the league, and are already 34.1 percent of his 2012 total under "offensive coordinator" Mike Tice. The Bears have followed through and then some on their pledge to get Forte more involved as a receiver, and it has him looking like an every-week RB1 in PPR leagues, and perhaps even standard formats. Forte is currently the No. 6 back in standard-scoring leagues.

Sun Sep 8 201317:17Matt Forte handles 23 touches & scores TD
Matt Forte rushed 19 times for 50 yards and a touchdown and caught four passes for 41 yards in the Bears' Week 1 win over Cincy.
Forte found little room to run against the Bengals' insanely talented front seven, but remained effective in the pass game and scored a touchdown from one-yard out on a shotgun handoff. He was NOT vultured by Michael Bush, which is promising for Forte's going-forward outlook. Expect 20-24 touches in Week 2 against the Vikings. Forte is a top-15 fantasy running back weekly.

Sat Aug 24 201310:34Matt Forte having dominant preseason
Jay Cutler described Matt Forte's preseason performance as "scary out there" following a dominant exhibition game at Oakland.
The Bears are using more zone runs, and Forte is averaging 9.93 yards per carry in the preseason. NFL Network's Daniel Jeremiah has observed Forte looks "quicker" than last year. "Matt's an all-purpose player," said coach Marc Trestman. "He's a three-down player. He can run. He's a very good pass receiver, and it just helps spread the field even more with the players that we have."

Sat Aug 24 201300:11Forte averaging 9.9 yards/carry in preseason
Matt Forte rushed six times for 76 yards and caught two passes for 33 yards and a touchdown in the Bears' third preseason game.
Forte is shredding the preseason, and continued to do so Friday night against the sieve-like Raiders "defense." Through three exhibition games, "unsexy" fantasy pick Forte has 15 carries for 149 yards (9.93 YPC), to go with three catches for 38 yards. He's scored two TDs. Forte is a locked-in early second-round pick in standard drafts, and worth first-round consideration in PPR.

Fri Aug 16 201312:08Bears giving RB Forte goal-line carries again
Matt Forte handled all three red-zone carries with the Bears' first-team offense in Thursday night's preseason game.
The Bears put Forte in the I formation on his touchdown run, and he executed from three yards out. Michael Bush worked strictly with the Josh McCown offense. Forte was stripped of goal-line duties under Lovie Smith, but he's earning them back under rookie coach Marc Trestman. It's a nice plus for Forte's fantasy outlook. He's shaping up as a value pick at his early-second round ADP.

Thu Aug 15 201321:10Forte busts long 58-yard run on Thursday
Matt Forte rushed for 74 yards and a touchdown on eight carries in Thursday night's preseason game against the Chargers.
Forte picked up 58 yards on a toss left, but was caught from behind inside the ten-yard line. It set up Brandon Marshall's five-yard score. Forte later received a rare carry from the three-yard line and pounded it in behind rookies RG Kyle Long and RT Jordan Mills for the score. He'll see more action next week.
