Jason Campbell (concussion) is not practicing Wednesday.
As expected. Campbell was concussed last Sunday against the Steelers and will need a miracle to be cleared ahead of Week 13. Brandon Weeden will make the start against the Jaguars. It's a favorable matchup, but Weeden will be a low QB2.

Jason Campbell (concussion) is not expected to be active for Sunday's Week 13 game against the Jaguars.
Campbell is in the concussion protocol. Even if he somehow miraculously gets cleared ahead of Sunday, he'll be a backup behind Brandon Weeden. The Browns quarterback disaster remains a week-to-week situation as it's been all year long.

Mon Nov 25 201310:03Jason Campbell diagnosed with a concussion
Jason Campbell sustained a concussion in Sunday's loss to the Steelers.
Campbell was knocked out when William Gay blitzed off the corner and clobbered the quarterback in the head. He may have lost consciousness, which would make getting cleared in time for Week 13 a stretch. Brandon Weeden came on for his 108th chance as the Browns quarterback and went a brutal 13-of-30 for 209 yards with one garbage-time touchdown and one interception. The Browns host the Jaguars Sunday and Weeden will likely be under center in front of a booing home crowd once again.

Jason Campbell completed 27-of-56 passes for 248 yards, one touchdown, and three interceptions in Sunday's Week 11 loss to the Bengals.

Campbell struggled with some bad overthrows in the red-zone and was forced to check down on the majority of his throws. His lone highlight was a 74-yard touchdown to Josh Gordon in the third quarter. Campbell will be just a low-end QB2 in Week 12 against the Steelers.

Tue Nov 5 201319:35Jason Campbell credits line, Norval Turner
Jason Campbell credits the Browns' offensive line and OC Norval Turner for his improved play in 2013.
Campbell also said he no longer plays with the mentality that he has to make something happen on every down. "Early in my career, I put more pressure on myself to make every play," Campbell said. "You don't always have to make every play. Just let the guys around you make plays and stay within the game. ... I think that's something that comes from experience and growth in the game." Campbell looked finish during his time with the Bears last season, but it's now clear his struggles were largely a result of the Bears' terrible offensive line and incoherent vision. He should remain a plug-and-play QB2 going forward.

Mon Nov 4 201310:57Jason Campbell optimistic on status
Jason Campbell (ribs) is optimistic that he'll be able to play following the Week 10 bye.
For now, it looks like Campbell's ribs are just bruised. The fact that he was able to play -- and play well -- through the injury in Sunday's win over the Ravens is obviously encouraging. In two starts this year, Campbell is 45-of-71 (63.3 percent) for 555 yards with five touchdowns and no interceptions.

Mon Nov 4 201309:00Jason Campbell says ribs bothered him
Jason Campbell admitted his ribs bothered him during Sunday's win over the Ravens.
Campbell was hurt in the first quarter when he took a shot from massive 340-pounder Haloti Ngata. He only missed a few plays and came back to perform well, but he admitted he might have broken ribs. "It was bothering me on a couple of throws. I really wanted to cut it loose and it was kind of grabbing me," Campbell said. "I couldn't really get what I wanted to put on the ball as far as speed and accuracy sometimes." He's set for more testing Monday.

Sun Nov 3 201319:39Campbell ties career-best with 3 TDs in win
Jason Campbell completed 23-of-35 passes for 262 yards and three touchdowns in Cleveland's Week 9, 24-18 win over the Ravens.
Campbell also rushed for 20 yards on three scrambles. He gave the Browns a bit of a scare early in the first quarter when Haloti Ngata landed hard on Campbell's back. Campbell lay on the turf for a few moments before he was assisted to the sideline by the medical staff. He missed the next four plays. Brandon Weeden came in and was predictably all out of sorts before being booed off the field. Campbell returned on the next possession and ended up tying a career-high with his three touchdown passes. Two went to Davone Bess. The other went to No. 2 tight end Gary Barnidge. Campbell also had a strong rapport going with Greg Little, which resulted in a fantasy wasteland-type game for the Browns. Josh Gordon caught just three passes, while Jordan Cameron reeled in one. The Browns are now 4-5 and snapped an 11-game losing streak to the Ravens. Cleveland is going on the bye.

Mon Oct 28 201312:15Jason Campbell will start vs. BAL, obviously
Coach Rob Chudzinski confirmed Jason Campbell will start against the Ravens in Week 9.
Even if Campbell performed a little below average against the Chiefs in Week 8, the Browns weren't going to go back to Brandon Weeden. But Campbell performed well above average, sparking the Browns by going 22-of-37 for 293 yards with two touchdowns in a narrow loss. He'll be a QB2 Sunday.

Jason Campbell completed 22-of-37 passes for 293 yards and two touchdowns in Sunday's Week 8 loss to the Chiefs.
Campbell was a clear upgrade over Brandon Weeden and nearly led the Browns to a come from behind victory in the second half. He averaged 8.1 yards-per-attempt, was only sacked once, and didn't have any turnovers. Campbell threw a 39-yard flea-flicker to Josh Gordon in the first half and later connected with Fozzy Whittaker for a 17-yard touchdown. He added three carries for 17 yards and finished with a 105.4 quarterback rating. Campbell is locked in as the Browns starter going forward and will be a QB2 option in Week 9 against the Ravens.

Wed Oct 23 201310:56Browns bench Weeden, name Campbell starter
Jason Campbell will start Sunday's Week 8 game against the Chiefs.
The wildly inconsistent, inaccurate and unproductive Brandon Weeden has been benched. He went 0-4 in four starts this season, going 103-of-195 (52.8 percent) for 1,154 yards with five touchdowns and six interceptions in five total appearances. While making the announcement, coach Rob Chudzinski said he believes Campbell gives the team the best chance to win. That might be true, but we wouldn't expect a drastic improvement. Campbell, 31, was a check-down king in the preseason and struggled while making one spot start for the Bears last season. He won't even be a QB2 option at Kansas City this week and the outlooks of Josh Gordon/Jordan Cameron remain unchanged.

Tue Oct 22 201309:23Browns still undecided on Week 8 starting QB
Coach Rob Chudzinski is reportedly still "deliberating" on whether to start Brandon Weeden or Jason Campbell in Week 8.
Weeden has played his way into a controversy by going 103-of-195 (52.8 percent) for 1,154 yards with five touchdowns and six interceptions in five games. The Browns are 0-4 in his starts and his 66.5 passer rating ranks 30th in the NFL. Campbell is a veteran journeyman that wouldn't fare much better -- especially in a brutal spot at Arrowhead Stadium Sunday.
