Sat Mar 10 201214:18Raiders, Wimbley haven't talked in 'days'
Scout.com reports the Raiders haven't spoken to OLB Kamerion Wimbley in "several days," and that "all signs" are pointing toward his release.
The Raiders were expected to announce a decision on Wimbley's future by Friday, but have remained silent. It could be a sign there's still an outside chance Wimbley returns on a restructured deal. If not, he'll hit the open market with $6.5 million already guaranteed for 2012.

Fri Mar 9 201208:44Report: Wimbley decision coming Friday
The Raiders are expected to make a decision on OLB Kamerion Wimbley's future by the end of the day on Friday.
To this point, all indications suggest Wimbley is not amenable to a pay cut because he's set to become one of the most sought after free agents. That being the case, the Raiders are expected to release him rather than guaranteeing $17.5 million.

Thu Mar 8 201209:41Raiders expected to release LB Kam Wimbley
ESPN's Bill Williamson expects the Raiders to release OLB Kam Wimbley barring "a major change," and suggests the Chargers could be the favorites to land Wimbley in free agency.
Wimbley's agents haven't spoken to Raiders team brass in "several days," and Williamson reiterates that Wimbley is not amenable to any pay reduction. Williamson is just speculating on San Diego as the potential front-runner, but it makes sense. The Chargers are desperate for a pass rusher capable of handling heavy snaps, and they know Wimbley well from the division.

Tue Mar 6 201221:06Wimbley 'open
The San Francisco Chronicle believers Raiders OLB Kamerion Wimbley is "open to the idea of a pay cut."
This contradicts a recent report from ESPN's Bill Williamson, who said Wimbley is willing to rework his contract, but "not interested" in taking a pay cut. Already guaranteed $6.5 million of his $11 million 2012 salary and in line for another big payday if he hits the open market, Wimbley holds on the cards in talks with the Raiders.

Tue Mar 6 201208:25Report: Wimbley will be cut if no pay-cut
NFL.com's Jason La Canfora reports the Raiders will cut OLB Kamerion Wimbley if he is not amenable to a pay-cut.
This, despite the fact that $6.5 million of Wimbley's $11 million 2012 salary is guaranteed. ESPN's Bill Williamson reported Monday that Wimbley is willing to rework his deal, but is "not interested" in any type of pay-cut. It sounds like he's headed toward the open market.

Mon Mar 5 201214:03Kamerion Wimbley not amenable to pay cut
ESPN's Bill Williamson is "hearing" that Kamerion Wimbley is willing to rework his contract, but is "not interested" in any type of pay cut.
In other words, Wimbley is amenable to moving money around, but not to losing any of it. This could make things difficult for the cap-strapped Raiders. They could try to convert some of Wimbley's whopping $11 million salary into a signing bonus, but there remains a very real possibility that cutting ties will be the endgame. The franchise must make a decision by March 17.

Sun Mar 4 201207:03Report: Raiders, Wimbley not close to deal
The Raiders and OLB Kamerion Wimbley are not close to an agreement on contract restructuring, according to Len Pasquarelli of The Sports Exchange.
Although agent Joe Linta insists the two sides "continue to work hard to make it work," Pasquarelli sets the odds at "perhaps a bit less" than 50-50 that Wimbley returns to Oakland. He would have to take a substantial pay cut to do so, an unlikelihood with the potential of breaking the bank on the open market.

Thu Mar 1 201213:50Report: Wimbley's $17.5M guarantees March 17
Profootballtalk reports OLB Kamerion Wimbley's $11 million 2012 salary and an additional $6.5 million will become guaranteed if he's still on the Raiders roster as of March 17.
The Raiders can save $4.5 million in cap space this year as well as a total savings of $17.5 million in salary by cutting Wimbley. Although previous reports indicated Wimbley would balk at a pay cut, PFT is told he is willing to listen to any offers the Raiders will make over the next couple of weeks. Wimbley's player rep likely has a good read on how much his client can collect on the open market should the Raiders cut ties.

Thu Mar 1 201210:40Raiders to cut Kam Wimbley if no new deal
NFL Network's Jason La Canfora reports that the Raiders will release OLB Kam Wimbley if he does not agree to a pay cut before March 13.
Oakland would stay on the hook for $6.5 million in guaranteed salary, but could save $4.5 million under the cap. While the Raiders would prefer to keep Wimbley because he's their best pass rusher, GM Reggie McKenzie has determined that his contract simply isn't worth it. The ideal scenario is a reworked deal.

Sun Feb 19 201212:15Wimbley would be owed $6.5 million if cut
The Raiders would owe OLB Kamerion Wimbley $6.5 million if he were released.
The Raiders could save $4.5 million by cutting Wimbley before March 17, but it would be an odd move to pay one of the league's more effective pass rushers $6.5 million to play for another team in 2012. For his part, Wimbley is reportedly "not interested" in renegotiating. It's hard to blame him.

Fri Feb 17 201214:34Cardinals may pursue OLB Kam Wimbley
Mike Jurecki if XTRA Phoenix floats the possibility of the Cardinals pursuing OLB Kam Wimbley should the Raiders release him.
Jurecki notes that Arizona had interest in Wimbley two years ago, before he was traded from Cleveland to Oakland. The Cardinals reportedly would have been "in the mix" had the Raiders not offered a second-day draft pick. Oakland is trying to shed salary quickly, and Wimbley's is a prohibitive $11 million.

Thu Feb 16 201214:52Wimbley 'not interested' in taking pay-cut
League sources tell NFL.com Raiders OLB Kamerion Wimbley is "not interested" in taking a pay-cut to remain with the Raiders in 2012.
That stance could make Wimbley a free agent, as he's currently set to earn an eye-popping $11 million. Wimbley was one of the league's top pass rushers in 2011, however, grading out as Pro Football Focus' No. 1 4-3 outside linebacker.

Fri Nov 11 201100:51Wimbley racks up four sacks in Week 10
Raiders OLB Kamerion Wimbley racked up four sacks of Philip Rivers in Week 10.
Coach Hue Jackson has been preaching that Wimbley's sacks would come in bunches. That was the case Thursday night thanks to LT Marcus McNeill's first-quarter stinger injury. Wimbley whipped replacement Brandyn Dombrowski all night, keeping Rivers and the Bolts passing game off balance throughout.

Mon Aug 1 201119:34Report: Wimbley gets 5-year, $48M extension
FOX Sports' Adam Caplan reports the Raiders signed franchise player OLB Kamerion Wimbley to a five-year, $48 million contract extension.
The Raiders didn't want Wimbley's $11.3 million franchise tag applied to the 2011 salary cap. The team's top pass rusher will receive an eye-popping $29 million in guarantees, though Caplan suggests a decent portion of that is tied up in option and signing bonuses. Wimbley did a commendable job of turning his career around last year, but that's a lot of money tied up in a player with two quality seasons in five.

Thu Mar 3 201115:50Wimbley signs Raiders' franchise tender
Raiders signed franchise player SLB Kamerion Wimbley to a one-year, $11.312 million contract.

Mon Feb 28 201121:24Report: Wimbley to sign his franchise tag
FOX Sports' Adam Caplan reports that Raiders SLB Kamerion Wimbley will sign his one-year franchise tender.
Caplan values Wimbley's tag at $11.312 million, even though Steelers OLB LaMarr Woodley's franchise tag was worth $10.091 million. Why the values would differ is unclear. Wimbley figures to sign the dotted line on Tuesday.

Thu Feb 24 201121:10Wimbley interested in long-term deal
Kamerion Wimbley is interested in working out a long-term deal with the Raiders after being designated the franchise player Thursday.
Not a bad idea to strike while Al Davis has the checkbook out. Coach Hue Jackson called Wimbley a "great young talent," and Davis showed how much he values the pass rusher by applying the tag. The sides will likely touch base in the near future.

Thu Feb 24 201114:07Buy-back disallowed, Raiders tag LB Wimbley
Raiders applied the franchise tag to SLB Kamerion Wimbley.
Wimbley and his agent claimed the Raiders' $3.5 million "buy-back" was against the 30 percent rule, and the NFL management council and NFLPA responded in their favor. The Raiders didn't want to let their leading sack artist hit the open market, so they've opted to shell out roughly $10 million. Wimbley graded out as Pro Football Focus' top 4-3 outside linebacker, so the Raiders were smart to do what it takes to hang on to him.

Tue Feb 22 201120:22Report: Wimbley's contract may be illegal
Raiders SLB Kamerion Wimbley's $3.5 million buy-back could be in violation of the NFL's "30 percent rule," according to Fox Sports' Adam Caplan.
Wimbley's 2010 base salary was $2.115 million. A 30 percent increase would shake out to just $2.75 million. It's not clear if a buy-back included in the original deal qualifies for an exception. Wimbley would be a free agent if the buy-back is disallowed.
