NFL Network's Mike Lombardi confirms that the Raiders have picked up SLB Kamerion Wimbley's $3.5 million option for 2011.

Wed Feb 16 201115:52Raiders have buyback option for Wimbley
The Raiders reportedly have a $3.5 million "buyback" option in SLB Kamerion Wimbley's contract for 2011.
They'd rather lock up Wimbley long term, but this is a plenty viable option if the Raiders don't want to wait around for contract negotiations. Wimbley was Oakland's sack leader last season and is an integral part of the revised, more up-tempo defense. He plays both end and outside linebacker.

Thu Jan 6 201112:28Raiders to make Wimbley a 'priority'
The Raiders are expected to make re-signing impending free agent SLB Kam Wimbley a "priority" this offseason.
Wimbley, still just 27, enjoyed his most productive season since 2009 as a first-year Raider, racking up 9.5 sacks and 57 tackles while shuttling between strong-side linebacker and strong-side end. He's going to be pricey, however, and has shown tremendous versatility as both a 3-4 and 4-3 player.

Sun Aug 22 201012:59Wimbley gets four sacks in one half
Raiders OLB Kamerion Wimbley had four sacks in the first half of Saturday's preseason game against the Bears.
Wimbley is an excellent pass rusher, but we wouldn't go nuts over this performance. He played mostly in the nickel and was going against a Bears' offensive line that has a ton of question marks again.
