Sun Feb 16 201423:03Redskins, Hall talks have intensified
Profootballtalk.com reports contract talks between the Redskins and free agent CB DeAngelo Hall are "intensifying."
PFT's Mike Florio reports the sides are "not close to an agreement," but "progress is being made." Hall earned just $1.25 million on a one-year contract last season, and figures to at least double that sum after a rock-solid campaign. He was one of the Redskins' few defenders who had an above-average year.

Sun Feb 2 201418:19Skins open contract talks with DeAngelo Hall
The Redskins have begun multi-year contract negotiations with free agent DB DeAngelo Hall.
We use "DB" as opposed to "CB" because Hall has expressed a willingness to move to safety. The Redskins, of course, have needs at both safety and corner, so Hall could easily stay with them at his natural position. It seems like Hall has been around forever, but he's only 30 years old, having turned so in November. DC Jim Haslett has called his re-signing an offseason "priority."

Wed Jan 8 201418:50DeAngelo Hall wants to re-sign with Skins
Impending free agent DeAngelo Hall says there's a "good chance" he re-signs with the Redskins.
Hall was a guest on FOX Football Daily on Wednesday. He also said he'd "love" to transition from cornerback to safety. Hall was released by the Redskins last offseason, drew little interest on the open market, and then re-signed with Washington. He started all 16 games and registered 78 tackles, four picks, and 13 pass breakups. Hall has lost a step or five in recent years but still has some game left in him at 30 years old. He played the slot some in 2013.

Wed Jul 31 201308:04DeAngelo Hall sidelined by sprained ankle
Redskins CB DeAngelo Hall (ankle) will miss anywhere from two days to two weeks.
Hall underwent an MRI which revealed sprained ligaments in the back of his ankle. "Certain movements, I'm good with," he said. "Certain movements, I can't put any pressure on it. It's kind of funky. It's all kind of new to me." Hall has played in all 16 games in three straight years for the Redskins.

Mon Apr 8 201312:13DeAngelo Hall's salary non-guaranteed
Redskins CB DeAngelo Hall's $1 million base salary isn't guaranteed.
Only Hall's $250,000 signing bonus is guaranteed. "MeAngelo" could make another $1 million through incentives. It's very likely Hall makes Redskins' 53-man roster and guarantees his salary, but he's going to have to be on his game - and best behavior - in camp.

Sat Mar 16 201314:42Redskins might re-sign DeAngelo Hall
The Redskins have left the door open for free agent DeAngelo Hall to return on a reduced salary.
Beat writer John Keim also passes along buzz in the agent community that Hall is re-signing in D.C. "I heard they were they were bringing D-Hall back," said one agent, who reps a different corner. The Skins whiffed on Aqib Talib and Derek Cox in free agency, and Hall should be an affordable fallback option.

Tue Mar 12 201318:05Cowboys interested in Hall to play safety
Dan Hellie of NBC Washington reports the Cowboys are interested in free agent DeAngelo Hall to play free safety.
Hall gets deservingly ripped for his man coverage, but he's always been a quietly strong tackler with ball skills. It would make sense for Hall to try free safety in order to prolong his career. The Cowboys have scant cap space, but a cheap one-year deal could be a win for Hall if he doesn't get better offers.

Tue Mar 12 201316:15Update: No deal between DeAngelo Hall, Lions
Updating a previous item, the Lions have not signed free agent CB DeAngelo Hall.
A Washington-area reporter jumped the gun, and Detroit beat writers have shot down the rumor and labeled it as "false." Hall will go back to the open market with all of the other recently released veteran cornerbacks.

Mon Mar 11 201317:12Redskins open to bringing Hall back cheaper
Redskins coach Mike Shanahan said the team would be willing to bring free agent CB DeAngelo Hall back if he doesn't sign elsewhere.
It would obviously be at a much lower price than the $8 million he was scheduled to make. Although he's been one of the more burnable starters in the league lately, we'd expect Hall to find a new home.

Mon Mar 11 201313:20Redskins officially release DeAngelo Hall
Redskins released CB DeAngelo Hall.
The expected move clears $8 million in cap space. Hall has been a disappointment practically since the ink dried on the six-year, $55 million deal he signed in 2009, but his release leaves an already undermanned defense even thinner. The Redskins need to make multiple additions to their secondary this offseason. Going on 30, Hall is being thrust into a jam-packed cornerback market, essentially taking the retiring Chris Gamble's place. He should have plenty of suitors, but won't get guaranteed money beyond 2013.

Thu Mar 7 201318:41Redskins to make Hall a 'take-or-leave' offer
The Washington Examiner's John Keim hears the Redskins will likely make DeAngelo Hall a "take it or leave it" offer.
ESPN's Adam Schefter mentioned Hall earlier on Thursday as a prime candidate for release, but the Redskins will likely ask him to take a drastic pay cut before severing ties altogether. If he rejects, then Hall will be given his pink slip and Washington will clear his $8 million cap number off the books.

Thu Mar 7 201313:29Redskins considering releasing DeAngelo Hall
On Thursday's SportsCenter, ESPN's Adam Schefter mentioned DeAngelo Hall as a prime candidate for offseason release.
Schefter grouped Hall with Nnamdi Asomugha and James Harrison. "The Redskins are over the salary cap," Schefter explained. "... Hall is scheduled to make $8 million, that would come off the books for next season. He will be a candidate that the Redskins will look at to try to get back underneath the salary cap." Washington is about $4 million over the cap. Cutting Hall would get them under.

Wed Jan 23 201313:41DeAngelo Hall undergoes finger surgery
Redskins CB DeAngelo Hall underwent surgery Tuesday to repair broken right pinkie finger.
According to the Washington Post, Hall played through the injury for "about half the season." The operation was reportedly to repair ligament damage. Hall is expected to begin rehabbing in roughly a month, which means he should be 100 percent for Washington's offseason program. The Redskins are expected to approach Hall about slashing his odious $7.5 million 2013 salary.
