Thu Aug 18 201116:46Parmele's roster status now 'up in the air'
Ravens RB Jalen Parmele's roster status is "up in the air" after the team signed Ricky Williams.
The Ravens like to talk up Parmele during the offseason, but he's never been utilized as more than a special teamer. The 2008 sixth-rounder has just seven carries in three years. There are better roster stashes in deep Dynasty leagues.

Sat Jul 30 201100:48Ravens re-sign RB Jalen Parmele
Ravens re-signed RB Jalen Parmele.
Parmele and WR Marcus Smith were waived earlier in the day, then quickly re-signed to deals cheaper than their one-year restricted tenders would have paid out. Parmele, 25, recorded eight tackles on special teams last season. But he's only earned seven career rushing attempts through three years with the Ravens.

Fri Jul 29 201122:34Ravens withdraw tender to Parmele
Ravens withdrew their restrictive free agent tender to RB Jalen Parmele, making him a free agent.
FOX Sports' Adam Caplan suspects the Ravens will be making a move at running back behind Ray Rice. They could bring in a free agent grinder such as Marion Barber or Ronnie Brown to replace Willis McGahee.

Mon Feb 28 201118:06Ravens give Parmele original pick tender
Ravens extended restricted free agent RB Jalen Parmele an original pick tender.
The Ravens have talked up Parmele as an alternative to Willis McGahee, but actions speak louder than words. They'd risk losing the 25-year-old with a meager sixth-round pick as compensation at this tender level, and have only given Parmele seven carries in three seasons. After McGahee is released, the Ravens will likely look to upgrade the position behind Ray Rice.

Wed Feb 23 201122:05Parmele in line for larger role in 2011
NFL Network's Jason LaCanfora is latest to suggest that RB Jalen Parmele is in line for a larger role in 2011.
"The Ravens could draft a running back or make a play for a free agent as well, but they like Parmele," said LaCanfora. "I can tell you that." At 6'0/224, Parmele ran a 4.47 at the 2008 Combine -- good for a top-six "speed score" in an impressive running back class. Dynasty leaguers, especially Ray Rice owners, should pick up Parmele if waivers are open this offseason.

Wed Feb 23 201109:25Ravens coaches high on RB Parmele
Ravens coaches are said to be "high" on backup RB Jalen Parmele.
We saw similar reports last offseason when the Ravens were shopping Willis McGahee. Actions speak louder than words, though, and Parmele has seen just seven rushing attempts in three seasons. If the Ravens don't address the position until late in this year's draft, Parmele could enter the 2011 season as Ray Rice's "handcuff."

Thu Aug 12 201023:11Parmele struggles in preseason opener
Jalen Parmele carried the ball seven times for -7 yards against the Panthers in Thursday's preseason opener.
He couldn't even run the ball when the Ravens went to a jumbo set, and he ended up losing a fumble that was returned for a touchdown. That performance isn't going to leave a potential Super Bowl contender comfortable shopping Willis McGahee.
Thu Aug 12 201009:26Ravens confident in Parmele as No. 2 back?
The Baltimore Sun suggests the Ravens could be willing to trade Willis McGahee because of their "growing confidence" in Jalen Parmele.
This appears to be speculation-based as opposed to a report that McGahee is on the block. Parmele has just seven rushing attempts in his two years in the NFL, but he does have the backing of coordinator Cam Cameron. He also had a promising speed score coming out of Toledo in 2008. Expect him to make the team as the No. 3 back and kickoff returner.

Tue Aug 3 201017:17Jalen Parmele to be Ravens' KR specialist
Ravens No. 3 RB Jalen Parmele is expected to be the team's primary kickoff returner this season.
Parmele impressed in the role down the stretch last year with a 31.4-yard average on nine return attempts. We've always liked the 5'11/221-pound Parmele's offensive potential too, but he wont get many snaps behind Ray Rice and Willis McGahee. And FB Le'Ron McClain is third in line for carries.

Fri Apr 16 201009:37Exclusive rights free agent Parmele signs
Ravens re-signed exclusive rights free agent RB Jalen Parmele.
Third on the depth chart behind Ray Rice and Willis McGahee, Parmele emerged as a bonafide kickoff return threat after Lardarius Webb went down with a torn ACL last season. He'll likely begin 2010 in the same role.
