Sun Jan 13 201309:27Cary Williams seeking $8-$10 million per year
Impending free agent CB Cary Williams believes he might be worth $8-$10 million per year on the open market.
Williams turned down a three-year, $15 million offer from the Ravens prior to training camp last summer, then turned around and gave up over 1,000 yards, six touchdowns, and a 91.6 quarterback rating in his coverage this season. With Lardarius Webb expected to return from ACL surgery and former first-round pick Jimmy Smith aiming for a starting job, Williams may not be in Baltimore's plans for 2013.

Thu Aug 23 201220:35Report: Colts pursuing a veteran cornerback
A reliable source tells the Indianapolis Star the player the Colts are pursuing in trade talks is a cornerback.
Owner Jim Irsay's comments suggest the trade target is a veteran looking for a new contract, which leaves the Ravens' Cary Williams as the most likely candidate. Williams reportedly turned down a three-year, $15 million offer before training camp, and the Ravens have depth in 2011 first-rounder Jimmy Smith. CBS Sports' Jason LaCanfora confirms the Colts have had no talks with the Cowboys about Mike Jenkins' (shoulder) availability.

Sun Aug 19 201222:29Cary Williams turned down $15M contract offer
Ravens RCB Cary Williams reportedly turned down a three-year, $15 million contract offer from the franchise before training camp.
Instead, Williams signed his one-year, $1.927 million tender. We have a feeling Williams may live to regret the refused contract offer, as he may lose his starting job to 2011 first-round pick Jimmy Smith. Williams was torched by Julio Jones in Baltimore's preseason opener, and Calvin Johnson beat Williams for 57 yards in the second exhibition game. Those are great receivers, of course, but Williams hasn't looked the same since offseason hip surgery.

Sun Jul 22 201214:06Cary Williams says he'll be set for camp
Ravens CB Cary Williams has "regained trust and flexibility" in his surgically repaired right hip and expects to be 100 percent for training camp.
Ravens vets report on Tuesday afternoon. The surgery was major, though, and any loss of explosiveness or change of direction could really cost Williams. He's entering a contract year and already seems the underdog in a forthcoming training camp battle with 2011 first-rounder Jimmy Smith to start at right corner.

Sun Jul 1 201212:37CB Williams 'hoping' to be 100 percent soon
Ravens CB Cary Williams (hip surgery) is hoping to be at full strength in time for training camp.
Williams said in May that he had no pain in his leg, but wasn't rushing back. He has yet to participate in any 11-on-11 drills. In serious jeopardy of losing his starting job to Jimmy Smith, Williams has motivation to get back to full participation later this month.

Tue May 8 201209:21Cary Williams (hip surgery) still rehabbing
Ravens CB Cary Williams (hip surgery) has yet to be cleared to run full speed.
However, Williams says there's "no pain" in his leg. "It's very flexible, but you have to be patient and not rush back." Williams also acknowledges that his job is "on the line," as Baltimore is expected to give 2011 first-round pick Jimmy Smith every opportunity to start opposite Lardarius Webb. Williams will likely slot in as the Ravens' third corner after starting all 16 games in 2011.

Mon May 7 201214:17Ravens re-sign Cary Williams
Ravens re-signed restricted free agent RCB Cary Williams to a one-year, $1.972 million contract.
Williams started every game for Baltimore last season, including the playoffs. A strong run-support corner at 6-foot-1, 182, Williams was the weak link in the Ravens' pass coverage, though he's hardly a terrible cover corner. Still, Williams will face stiff competition to retain his starting job from 2011 first-round pick Jimmy Smith. Also recovering from offseason hip surgery, Williams will likely move into a backup role in 2012.

Sat Apr 14 201218:15Cary Williams to miss voluntary workouts
The Carroll County Times confirms restricted free agent CB Cary Williams is not expected to be present for the beginning of Ravens OTAs Monday.
Williams is in talks with the Ravens on a long-term extension, but the primary reason for his absence is injury-related, as opposed to contract driven. A former seventh-round pick, Williams emerged as a reliable starter last season. He is currently owed $1.927 million on a one-year tender.

Fri Apr 13 201215:32Cary Williams not ready to sign tender
Ravens restricted free agent RCB Cary Williams does not plan to sign his one-year tender "for at least a few weeks."
Baltimore is believed to be interested in signing Williams long term. He's owed $1.942 million on his one-year tender, but likely wouldn't have been available for OTAs anyway after offseason hip surgery. Williams turned 27 in December.

Tue Feb 28 201214:18BAL to tender Williams, Webb at 1st-round?
The Ravens expected to tender restricted free agent CBs Cary Williams and Lardarius Webb at the first-round level.
Williams is safe at that level, though Webb could draw interest around the league. The Ravens are reportedly "pushing hard" to lock him up before the start of free agency. Coming off hip surgery, Williams will be pushed hard by 2011 first-rounder Jimmy Smith this summer.

Fri Feb 24 201217:30Cary Williams recovering from hip surgery
Restricted free agent CB Cary Williams underwent postseason surgery to repair a torn labrum in his hip.
Williams is facing two to six months of recovery, and it could impact the tender he receives as a restricted free agent. A former seventh-round pick, Williams started all 16 games in 2011 but will be pushed by Jimmy Smith in 2012.

Sat Dec 24 201115:27Cary Williams done for day with concussion
Ravens RCB Cary Williams is done for the day with a concussion.
Ravens RG Marshal Yanda also suffered a concussion and will not return. (They're both listed as "doubtful," but won't be back.) Williams, the team's starting right corner since early in the season, has been pushed for playing time recently by first-round pick Jimmy Smith. Yanda is the Ravens' best O-Lineman.

Tue Oct 11 201118:16Cary Williams is Ravens' pleasant surprise
Ravens GM Ozzie Newsome calls RCB Cary Williams the most pleasant surprise of the early season.
"If you would have [told] me at the end of last football season that Cary Williams would be our starting right corner," explained Newsome, "I would have gone, 'Yeah, that's a little bit of a stretch.'" Williams is third on the team with 23 tackles, and the Ravens love his size as a press corner. Lardarius Webb is also playing well, allowing the team to be patient with Jimmy Smith's high ankle sprain.

Sun Sep 4 201123:43Ravens name Cary Williams a starting CB
The Ravens have named Cary Williams a starting cornerback to open the season.
A former seventh-round pick out of Washburn, Williams beat out Lardarius Webb, Chris Carr, and Domonique Foxworth for the job opposite first-round pick Jimmy Smith. While Williams did well to earn it with five preseason pass breakups, fantasy leaguers should be looking to target him and the rookie for matchup purposes. Ed Reed is the only imposing member of Baltimore's secondary.

Mon Aug 15 201110:42Cary Williams moving up the depth chart
Cary Williams has been working with the first-team defense since Thursday's preseason opener.
A strong camp has Williams playing ahead of Chris Carr. "A guy deserves an opportunity. We always say the best guys play the most and he's earned that," said coach John Harbaugh. With first-round pick Jimmy Smith in town and Lardarius Webb healthy, the Ravens' secondary is vastly improved no matter who ends up starting.

Ravens activated CB Cary Williams from the reserve/suspended list.
A talented cornerback prospect with a history of character issues, Williams will likely step in immediately as the Ravens' No. 5 corner while playing on special teams. The club will need to cut a player by 4PM ET Wednesday.

Ravens CB Cary Williams is drawing high praise for his offseason efforts.
Williams dominated Thursday's preseason game, breaking up three passes and taking an interception to the house. Though he'll be suspended for the first two games, he seems to have a legitimate shot at making the final roster.
