Mon Sep 12 201108:55Larry English scratched by Chargers
Chargers OLB Larry English confirmed he was a healthy scratch in Week 1.
English is coming off offseason foot surgery and missed three of four preseason games. He says he's "100 percent," but the coaches may feel otherwise. The 2009 No. 16 overall pick has rarely been healthy during his NFL career.

Fri Aug 19 201113:07Larry English installed with first-team D
Chargers OLB Larry English was installed with the first-team defense this week, ahead of Travis LaBoy.
LaBoy's body can't hold up to the NFL grind as a full-time player, so he was never in the mix for that kind of a role. Beat writer Kevin Acee suspects English and LaBoy will wind up sharing snaps, with English probably getting slightly more. Shaun Phillips remains the heavy favorite to lead San Diego in sacks.

Sat Aug 13 201115:03Chargers activate Larry English from PUP
Chargers activated OLB Larry English (foot) from active/PUP.
English will run with the second team, which is where he'll stay until he proves himself physically able to handle the rigors of an NFL season. Expectations for the No. 16 overall pick in 2009 should be limited.

Fri Aug 5 201108:36English may not play until third preseason gm
Coach Norv Turner said that OLB Larry English (foot surgery) may not play until the third preseason game.
English, the No. 16 overall pick in 2009, missed eight games a year ago and has just five sacks in his career. With this foot issue proving to be nagging, expectations for this season need to be held in check. The Chargers signed OLB Travis LaBoy in free agency as insurance.

Sat May 21 201109:32Larry English has second foot surgery
Chargers OLB Larry English has revealed he underwent a second operation on his troublesome left foot in March.
"They put another screw in because something was off," he said. "The doctors said it had hadn't healed right or the foot was re-broken. It feels a lot better now and optimistic about my foot's long term health." Unwelcome news, as it was barely a month ago the Chargers said they did not believe English's condition was a chronic one. He insists he'll be ready whenever the lockout ends, but it's clear expecations for his 2011 need to be limited.

Sat Apr 23 201116:22Larry English expected to be 100 percent
The Chargers expect Larry English's surgically repaired foot to be 100 percent next season.
He is not believed to have a chronic condition. English was limited to just eight games last season, notching 17 tackles and three sacks in the process. If he could break out in 2011, it would be a boon for a team looking for better play from its front seven.

Sat Nov 20 201008:53Larry English finally ready to see more snaps
Chargers OLB Larry English is poised to see more snaps now that he's close to fully recovered from foot surgery.
English registered a tackle in the team's Week 9 contest, his first since Week 2. The former No. 16 overall pick will continue to split time with Antwan Applewhite as the Chargers look to ease him back into the lineup. Who the Chargers go after at OLB in the off-season will largely be determined by English's play down the stretch.

Mon Aug 2 201008:55English getting first-team work
Larry English was first up to replace Shawne Merriman (holdout) with the first team.
English, the No. 16 overall pick a year ago, had just 36 tackles and two sacks as a rookie. Merriman isn't a threat to miss any regular season work, so English's role figures to be limited once again.
