Fitzpatrick completed 10-of-17 passes for 80 yards and a 70.7 quarterback rating.
There was some good and some bad in Fitzpatrick's performance Saturday. Some questionable decisions to throw into tight spaces didn't come back to hurt him. In that sense he was lucky. While nothing happened to knock Fitzpatrick from the starting job, he'll be a gamble for fantasy owners who don't secure one of the top tier quarterbacks early.

Fitzpatrick completed 9-of-12 passes for 97 yards and a touchdown pass for a 126.0 rating in Saturday night's preseason win over the Falcons.
Fitzpatrick looked much different Saturday than he did during last week's opener. He made good throws and good decisions in leading the Texans on two touchdown drives. He directed Houston's first two drives before being removed, but then was brought back into game to engineer a two-minute drill just before the end of the first half.

Fitzpatrick completed 6-of-14 passes for 55 yards and two interceptions in Saturday night's 32-0 preseason loss to the Cardinals. He finished with a 14.6 quarterback rating.
This was not a good start for Fitzpatrick, who played the entire first half and had a good deal of the first team offense with him. Head coach Bill O'Brien was quick to deflect blame for the loss toward Fitzpatrick, noting that it was entire team breakdown.

Fitzpatrick and center Chris Myers had a few bad snap exchanges during Sunday's practice, the Houston Chronicle reports.
Head coach Bill O'Brien has taken notice of the flawed exchanges, but is not over concerned at this point in training camp. "It's a lot of snaps in training camp, but it does have to be eliminated," O'Brien said. "Certainly, to me, it's not troubling. It's just something that we have to do a better job of spending some extra time on it and make sure that it sops and that we eliminate it."
Tue Jun 17 201413:43Texans name Ryan Fitzpatrick starting QB
Coach Bill O'Brien named Ryan Fitzpatrick the Texans' starting quarterback.
This doesn't come as a surprise whatsoever. "He's a guy that earned the job," O'Brien said. Fourth-round rookie Tom Savage was the only real threat to Fitzpatrick, but learning yet another system after attending three different colleges, it was going to be struggle for Savage to supplant Fitzpatrick. He'll have to pull a Russell Wilson this summer and in preseason to overtake Fitzpatrick, who would have to fall flat on his face in the process. Case Keenum and T.J. Yates may be competing for one roster spot, and it's conceivable both could be let go. Fitzpatrick offers very little fantasy upside. The Texans are going to employ a ball-control, run-first offense and let their defense try and take some games.

Thu Jun 5 201422:49Texans' site: Fitz odds-on fave for QB job
The Texans' official website admits the team's quarterback job is Ryan Fitzpatrick's to lose.
The Texans are attempting to keep up the absurd guise of competition under center, but Fitzpatrick would have to seriously stumble to lose out to any of Case Keenum, T.J. Yates or Tom Savage. "We liked the fact that he had played a bunch of football," coach Bill O'Brien said of Fitz. "We liked the fact that he was a guy that we thought would be a good system fit, meaning he was an intelligent guy, a good leader and a guy that was an accurate passer." Our money is heavily on Fitz.

Tue May 27 201414:51O'Brien: Texans QB competition is wide open
Coach Bill O'Brien said the Texans' quarterback competition is "wide open."
As the Texans opened OTAs on Tuesday, all four of Ryan Fitzpatrick, Tom Savage, Case Keenum, and T.J. Yates were in attendance and taking reps. Fitzpatrick has to be viewed as the heavy favorite to be under center come Week 1. Savage simply isn't expected to be ready, while Keenum and Yates have proven to be trainwrecks as spot starters the past two seasons. The Texans are going to pound the ball on the ground behind a strong line and let FitzMagic manage the offense.

Thu Mar 20 201414:24Ryan Fitzpatrick visiting Texans on Thursday
FOX Houston reports free agent Ryan Fitzpatrick is visiting the Texans on Thursday.
It's Fitzpatrick's first visit since he was cut loose by the Titans last Friday. It's a sign the Texans are finally getting ready to make a move with Matt Schaub. Fitz would arguably be an upgrade on Schaub, and should come cheaper. He'd be an ideal caddie for a rookie first-rounder.

Sat Mar 15 201413:54Browns not interested in Ryan Fitzpatrick
The Browns are not believed to be interested in free agent QB Ryan Fitzpatrick.
Former Titans OC Dowell Loggains presence on the Browns staff sparked rumors Fitzpatrick would land in Cleveland, but that appears unlikely. Fitzpatrick is a solid backup, but the Browns already have enough of those guys on the roster. They need a starter. Fitzpatrick should latch on as a No. 2 somewhere in the near future.

Fri Mar 14 201415:27Titans officially release Ryan Fitzpatrick
Titans released QB Ryan Fitzpatrick.
We knew this one was coming, but it's still a head scratcher. Fitzpatrick is not quite a starting-caliber quarterback, but is a high-end backup, one capable of winning games. That's important for a team with one of the league's most brittle starters, but instead the Titans are going with an embarrassingly bad Charlie Whitehurst. Fitzpatrick was due just $2.75 million in 2014, so it's not about money. The Titans like Checkdown Charlie's experience in coach Ken Whisenhunt's system, but they're not going to like the chance he gives them to win if he's forced to play. Fitz vaults to the top of a weak quarterback class.

Thu Mar 13 201419:41Titans expected to release QB Fitzpatrick
The Nashville Tennessean reports the Titans are expected to release QB Ryan Fitzpatrick.
The move would save $3.25 million. After signing Charlie Whitehurst to be Jake Locker's backup Thursday, Fitzpatrick is no longer needed. Fitzpatrick is a gazillion times better than Whitehurst, but Whitehurst and coach Ken Whisenhunt have a history. Fitz would vault near the top of a pitiful free-agent QB market.

Wed Feb 19 201411:00Titans could save $3.25M by cutting Fitz
The Titans could save $3.25 million in cap money by releasing Ryan Fitzpatrick.
We'd consider it a remote possibility. The Titans aren't in a desperate cap situation, Jake Locker is coming off Lisfranc surgery and Fitzpatrick is a plus backup. He started nine games last year, going 3-6 with a 62.0 completion percentage and 14:12 TD-to-INT ratio.

Sun Dec 29 201317:36Fitzpatrick throws for 166 yards in win
Ryan Fitzpatrick completed 15-of-24 passes for 166 yards and one interception in Tennessee's Week 17 win over Houston.
Fitzpatrick inked a two-year deal in the offseason and ended up playing in 11 games, starting nine of them, for the Titans. Tennessee went 3-6 in those nine starts. Fitzpatrick is merely a game manager and needs plenty of talent around him in order to succeed. He also turns the ball over too much. The 31-year-old ends his season completing 217-of-350 passes (62 percent) for 2,454 yards (7.01 YPA) and a 14:12 TD:INT ratio. FitzMagic added three more rushing scores. He's set to earn $2.75 million in 2014 and should be back in Tennessee as a competent backup, though who he'll be backing up is unclear.

Fri Nov 15 201300:02Ryan Fitzpatrick throws for 222 yards in loss
Ryan Fitzpatrick completed 22-of-28 passes for 222 yards and a touchdown in Tennessee's Week 11 loss to the Colts.
Making like Alex Smith, Fitzpatrick also rushed four times for 26 yards, getting away with a fumble in the process (an obvious cough up wasn't challenged by Indy). Fitz also imitated Smith in the passing game, dinking and dunking the Colts nearly to death before finally popping a big play with Indy in its prevent defense late in the fourth quarter. Fitz's score came with the Titans trailing 30-20 with 2:00 left, and needing an onside kick to have a chance to tie. They didn't recover it, and the game was over. As far as backups go, Fitzpatrick is more than competent, but he's not going to be winning the Titans any games. He's a low-end QB2 for fantasy purposes.

Sun Nov 10 201317:17Fitzpatrick accounts for 3 TDs off the bench
Ryan Fitzpatrick completed 22-of-33 passes for 264 yards and two touchdowns in the Titans' Week 10 loss to Jacksonville.
Adding a 3-13-1 rushing line, Fitzpatrick accounted for all three of the Titans' touchdowns after replacing Jake Locker (foot). Coach Mike Munchak announced in Sunday's post-game press conference that Fitzaptrick is a virtual lock to start in Week 11 against the Colts. Indianapolis has been largely stingy in pass defense this year. Fitzpatrick will be a two-QB-league option only.
