Tue Apr 20 2010 | 11:18 | Panthers re-sign LB Anderson |
Panthers re-signed restricted free agent LB James Anderson to a one-year, $1.176 million contract. |
Anderson made seven starts last season, racking up 65 tackles, one sack, and a forced fumble. He also chipped in seven stops on special teams. Anderson will get a chance to compete with Dan Connor to start at strong-side linebacker. Connor projects as the stouter run defender, and is the early favorite. |

Mon Apr 19 2010 | 08:49 | Anderson and Connor to battle for job |
James Anderson and Dan Connor are expected to battle for the starting SLB job this season, with the loser serving as the primary backup at all three linebacker spots. |
Although Anderson has shown some flashes, he's been too inconsistent for an every-down role. We fully expect Connor to win the job, leaving Anderson as the utility man. The Panthers could also add linebacker depth late in this week's draft. |
