Tue Apr 20 201011:18Panthers re-sign LB Anderson
Panthers re-signed restricted free agent LB James Anderson to a one-year, $1.176 million contract.
Anderson made seven starts last season, racking up 65 tackles, one sack, and a forced fumble. He also chipped in seven stops on special teams. Anderson will get a chance to compete with Dan Connor to start at strong-side linebacker. Connor projects as the stouter run defender, and is the early favorite.

Mon Apr 19 201008:49Anderson and Connor to battle for job
James Anderson and Dan Connor are expected to battle for the starting SLB job this season, with the loser serving as the primary backup at all three linebacker spots.
Although Anderson has shown some flashes, he's been too inconsistent for an every-down role. We fully expect Connor to win the job, leaving Anderson as the utility man. The Panthers could also add linebacker depth late in this week's draft.
