Williams (foot) was a full participant in Friday's practice and will start Sunday against Atlanta, the Associated Press' Steve Reed reports.
Although Williams will technically be the starter, head coach Ron Rivera said he does not much much stock in who is starting, adding that Jonathan Stewart will see action as well. The two split carries nearly evenly last week (13 for Williams, 11 for Stewart), and we expect to see a similar timeshare against the Falcons. Atlanta's run defense is vulnerable (24th in yards allowed), but the Panthers' offense isn't exactly firing on all cylinders right now.

Williams (foot) returned to practice Friday, the Charlotte Observer's Joe Person reports.
We'll have more on this once the Panthers release their official injury report later in the day, but this bodes well for Williams' chances of playing Sunday against the Falcons.

Coach Ron Rivera expects Williams (foot) to practice Friday, Joseph Person of the Associated Press reports.
Moreover, despite Williams not practicing again on Thursday, Rivera indicated that he is not concerned about the running back's status. We'll revisit Williams' situation Friday, but a return to practice, in any capacity, would clearly brighten his Week 11 prospects in advance of Sunday's 1:00 ET kickoff against the Falcons.
Thu Nov 13 201412:51DeAngelo Williams: (Foot) Misses Thursday's Practice
Williams (foot) didn't take part in Thursday's practice, Joseph Person of the Associated Press reports.
Williams has dealt with a menagerie of injuries this season -- also, thigh and ankle -- which have only allowed him to take the field four times in 10 chances. Upon the release of Wednesday's report, fellow RB Jonathan Stewart was also listed as limited due to an ankle injury, throwing another wrench in the Panthers' backfield plans. Currently, Williams' Week 11 prospects are looking bleak, but one practice remains for the veteran back to prove his health heading into the weekend.
Wed Nov 12 201418:16DeAngelo Williams: (Foot) No Practice Wednesday
Williams didn't practice Wednesday due to a foot injury.
Williams adds yet another body part to his list of ailments, joining his thigh and ankle. The severity of the new malady is unclear, but owners should monitor his practice participation closely as the week unfolds. The backfield took another hit due to Jonathan Stewart's (ankle) limited showing in drills Wednesday, which leaves Fozzy Whittaker and Chris Ogbonnaya as the sole fully healthy members of the Panthers' backfield.

Williams (undisclosed) didn't take part in practice Wednesday.
Williams has tended to thigh and ankle injuries so far this season, but the spur for his current DNP is unknown. Since missing four games in a row, and six of seven, he's played in back-to-back outings, albeit on a limited basis, during which he's totaled 21 carries for 51 yards and four receptions (on as many targets) for 47 yards. Nevertheless, keep a watchful on his activity level as the week draws to a close, especially with healthy options Jonathan Stewart, Fozzy Whittaker, and Chris Ogbonnaya waiting in the wings.

Williams gained 31 yards on 13 carries and 17 yards on three receptions in Monday's 45-21 loss to the Panthers.
Williams and Jonathan Stewart split the work until the game was out of hand, at which point Fozzy Whittaker got a bunch of touches. Stewart got two goal-line carries and punched one in, but neither back found much room to run. The Carolina offensive line is a disaster, and Williams is still stuck in the same timeshare. On the bright side, Carolina faces a porous Falcons defense in Week 11.

Williams (ankle) gained 20 yards on eight carries and 30 yards on one reception in Thursday's 28-10 loss to the Saints.
Williams took a screen pass for 30 yards on the first play of the second half, but he was otherwise quiet in his first game since Week 4. Jonathan Stewart was the more effective of Carolina's running backs, gaining 46 yards on eight carries behind some impressive broken tackles. So long as both remain healthy, Williams and Stewart will likely continue to split the work, as has often been the case in the past. Next week brings a Monday Night Football matchup with the Eagles in Philadelphia.

Williams (ankle) will start at running back in Thursday's game against the Saints, NFL.com reports.
Williams has been sidelined for six games this season due to hamstring and ankle injuries, but will make his long-awaited return Thursday. The Panthers' franchise-leading rusher will start at running back, with Jonathan Stewart expected to fulfill his usual complementary role. From there, Carolina may roll with the hot hand Thursday versus New Orleans. Nonetheless, minus fullback Mike Tolbert (leg), the Panthers will finally have their preferred backfield rotation available in Week 9.

Williams (ankle) has informed Panthers' coach Ron Rivera that he's "ready to roll" for Thursday's game against the Saints, the Associated Press reports.
Williams has missed six games this season due to a combination of hamstring and ankle injuries. The Panthers' all-time leading rusher has not played since Week 4, but is apparently ready to return for this week's NFC South clash versus the Saints. Although it's unclear how much Williams will be involved Thursday, his return figures to impact Jonathan Stewart's touches moving forward. With both running backs healthy, expect Carolina to revert to their usual tandem running approach, with quarterback Cam Newton also carrying the ball on occasion.

Coach Ron Rivera indicated Thursday that Williams (ankle) is not ready to play this week, Steve Reed of the Associated Press reports.
Per Joe Person of the Charlotte Observer, Rivera is hopeful that Williams could play next Thursday against the Saints, with Jonathan Stewart on track to head the Panthers' Week 8 rushing attack on Sunday against the Seahawks.
Wed Oct 22 201418:16DeAngelo Williams: (Ankle) Week 8 Return A Slight Possibility
Williams (ankle) worked with trainers on the side at Wednesday's practice, ESPN.com reports. "He did a lot of work, pushing sleds and running," coach Ron Rivera said. "That was very encouraging. The next step is to see how he feels tomorrow."
Just last Monday, Oct. 13, Rivera said that Williams was a "couple of weeks" from a return, but Wednesday's development opens the door, albeit slightly, for active status Sunday against the Seahawks. If he fails to sidestep a fourth DNP in a row, though, Jonathan Stewart is the main man in the Panthers' backfield with Fozzy Whittaker (thigh) also sitting out the first practice of the week.
Wed Oct 22 201413:36Williams (ankle) didn't participate in Wednesday's practice
Williams (ankle) didn't participate in Wednesday's practice.
With a few weeks remaining before a return is plausible, Williams' absence isn't a shock. Because Fozzy Whittaker (thigh) is also out of commission, Jonathan Stewart remains the focus of the Panthers' backfield, as he's coming off a 13-carry, 50-yard performance on the ground this past Sunday at Green Bay.
Sat Oct 18 201414:29DeAngelo Williams: (Ankle) Ruled Out
Williams (ankle) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Packers, David Newton of ESPN.com reports.
Williams never had a realistic shot at playing against Green Bay, so his downgrade comes as no surprise. Coach Ron Rivera said Monday that Williams is still a "couple of weeks" away from returning, meaning the door is open for Jonathan Stewart (knee) to serve as the primary running back in the near term.

Williams (ankle) is listed as doubtful for Sunday's game against Green Bay, the Charlotte Observer reports.
The Panthers aren't officially ruling him out yet, but Williams remains a few weeks away from playing and will be inactive on Sunday. Jonathan Stewart (knee) will start for Carolina.

Williams (ankle) is still "a couple weeks away" from returning to game action.
Williams is still recovering from a high ankle sprain suffered in Week 4 and apparently won't be available in the next couple weeks. As a result, the Panthers will hope Jonathan Stewart (knee) can return for this Sunday's game; otherwise, Carolina will once again be left with the uninspiring duo of Fozzy Whittaker (quadriceps) and Darrin Reaves.
Fri Oct 10 201413:16Williams (ankle) out for Sunday's game against Bengals
Williams (ankle) is out for Sunday's game against the Bengals, the Charlotte Observer's Jonathan Jones reports.
Last we heard, Williams was still wearing a walking boot, so there was never much of a chance that he would suit up for this game. The Panthers' rushing attack looks like it will be convoluted mess again in Week 6.
Wed Oct 8 201416:02Williams (ankle) still wearing walking boot
Williams (ankle), who recently had his cast removed, is still wearing a walking boot, the Charlotte Observer reports.
Williams looks a long-shot to play this weekend versus the Bengals, after suffering a high ankle sprain in Week 4. As a result, the Panthers' will likely use some combination of Fozzy Whittaker, Darrin Reaves (hip), and Chris Ogbonnaya versus the Bengals, since Jonathan Stewart (knee) is also less than 100 percent healthy.

Williams, who has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Bears, is suffering from a high ankle sprain and will have his cast removed Friday.
Williams' injury this week has bounced between being termed as an ankle or a foot issue, but finally, confirmation of a high ankle sprain has now come. That type of injury is usually tricky to overcome in short order, so Williams' status will have to be monitored in the next week or so. With Williams definitely out this weekend, rookie Darrin Reaves and recent signing Chris Ogbonnaya are the Panthers' only healthy running backs, since Jonathan Stewart (knee) and Fozzy Whittaker (quadriceps) are still short of 100 percent.
Wed Oct 1 201410:37Williams (foot) ruled out of Sunday's game against Bears
Williams (foot) has been ruled out of Sunday's game against the Bears, ESPN reports.
Williams entered this week as doubtful after suffering a foot injury during last Sunday's game, but is now wearing a cast on his right foot and faces another sideline spell. The veteran's latest injury further depletes the Panthers' backfield options, leaving rookie Darrin Reaves and recent signing Chris Ogbonnaya as Carolina's only healthy running backs. However, although Jonathan Stewart (knee) and Fozzy Whittaker (quadriceps) are also banged-up, both ball-carriers stand a chance of being cleared for Sunday, potentially adding a needed boost to the Panthers' offense.
