Impending free agent OLB Erik Walden will have his disorderly conduct charge from a year ago dismissed on Friday.

Tue Jul 31 201217:18Packers OLB Walden suspended one game
NFL suspended Packers OLB Erik Walden one game for violating the personal conduct policy.
The Packers reportedly "disenchanted" with Walden after his November arrest for domestic violence. Walden's agent believes the looming suspension affected his client's market in free agency. Expected to play a reserve role this season, Walden is eligible to return to action in Week 2.

Mon Apr 23 201217:57Packers re-sign OLB Erik Walden
Packers re-signed OLB Erik Walden.
Walden, 27 in August, racked up 60 tackles, three sacks, and a forced fumble in 16 appearances with 15 starts last season. The Packers want to do better at the position opposite Clay Matthews, however, and Walden would ideally return only as a backup and special teamer. He's not starting material.

Tue Mar 20 201213:19Free agent OLB Walden hopes to stay in GB
The agent for free agent OLB Erik Walden says he wants to re-sign with the Packers, but claims he's been in contact with "five or six teams."
Walden hasn't received any known interest since the start of free agency, and is unlikely to return to a Packers team that reportedly grew "disenchanted" with him in 2011. His playing time dwindled following his November arrest on suspicion of domestic assault. Walden graded out as one of the worst outside linebackers in the league by Pro Football Focus last season. The Cowboys are one of the teams interested.

Thu Mar 1 201214:42Packers 'disenchanted' with OLB Walden
The Packers have reportedly become "disenchanted" with free agent OLB Erik Walden.
Don't expect him back in Green Bay after a disappointing season. Brad Jones and Jamari Lattimore, a free agent from Middle Tennessee State, are expected to see expanded roles, including time at inside linebacker. Coach Mike McCarthy confirmed that the Packers plan to add at least one outside linebacker this offseason.

Fri Feb 10 201217:43Erik Walden pleads no contest to charge
Free agent OLB Erik Walden pleaded no contest Friday to a domestic disturbance charge stemming from a December incident.
Walden was initially arrested on a felony charge, but it was later downgraded to a misdemeanor. The arrest is going to sink his free agent value, not that he had much. A 'tweener type best suited to play on special teams, Walden managed just three sacks in 15 starts despite seeing single blocks through 2011. Outside linebacker is Green Bay's biggest need area this offseason.

Fri Dec 30 201109:54Walden now rotating opposite Matthews
The Packers are still searching for a complement to Clay Matthews at outside linebacker.
Erik Walden continues to start, but he hasn't finished the past two games, giving way to Frank Zombo and Vic So'oto. The Packers figure to use a rotation in the playoffs, searching for the combo that will provide the best pass-rushing spark.

OLB Erik Walden was benched late in the Packers' Week 15 loss to the Chiefs.
Walden kept biting to the inside, leaving the edge open for screens and reverses. He was pulled in the fourth quarter. "My alignment and my technique was poor and it came back to bite me at the end," Walden said. He's started all 14 games for the Packers this season, recording 53 tackles and three sacks.

Thu Dec 1 201111:15Erik Walden cleared to start
Packers OLB Erik Walden will start Sunday's game against the Giants despite his arrest last Friday.
Walden spent last weekend in jail after allegedly assaulting his girlfriend. The NFL has announced no discipline and the Packers confirmed any in-house discipline won't affect his status for the game. Walden has started every game at right outside linebacker this season, compiling 41 tackles and three sacks.

Fri Nov 25 201114:54Packers LB Walden arrested Friday morning
The Green Bay Press-Gazette reports that Packers OLB Erik Walden was arrested Friday morning on suspicion of domestic assault.
Walden allegedly assaulted his live-in girlfriend, and will be held in jail through the weekend. This isn't the kind of distraction the 11-0 Packers needed, so it's possible they'll consider releasing Walden. Walden has not been formally charged, but is being accused of a felony. It's believed the incident occurred at around 2:30AM in a Green Bay suburb. The woman was hospitalized, but had no visible injuries, according to police.

Fri Sep 16 201110:28Walden nails down starting job
Erik Walden has nailed down the starting outside linebacker job opposite Clay Matthews.
Frank Zombo has been sidelined by a broken scapula, and Brad Jones was limited to special teams duty in the season opener. Walden produced six tackles, a sack, and a pass defensed against the Saints. Consistency has been Walden's biggest stumbling block, but the coaches like his coverage skills against backs and tight ends. He has a great matchup this week against Panthers undrafted rookie RT Byron Bell.

Thu Aug 18 201108:28Walden jumps back in front of OLB battle?
Erik Walden has spent two consecutive days as the Packers' starting right outside linebacker.
Green Bay media was speculating that Frank Zombo had the job sewn up as of Monday. But Walden, who made two starts a year ago after Brad Jones went down, now appears to have his nose back in front. This position battle likely won't be called until after the third preseason game.

Sun Feb 6 201116:39Zombo starts for inactive OLB Erik Walden
Frank Zombo will start the Super Bowl in place of OLB Erik Walden, who is inactive with an ankle injury Sunday.
Zombo entered the season as the starter, so it's not a major downgrade. Walden had been hitting his stride before the injury, though, so there's some loss of playmaking ability. The rest of the Packers inactives: QB Graham Harrell, FB Quinn Johnson, RB Dimitri Nance, OG Evan Dietrich-Smith, OT Nick McDonald, CB Brandon Underwood, and DB Josh Gordy. Johnson had been the lead blocker in I-formations, so his benching could be a sign that the Packers won't even attempt to establish a rushing attack.
Sat Feb 5 201117:23Walden to be game-time decision
Packers HC Mike McCarthy said on Saturday that OLB Erik Walden (ankle) is "going to have to show us something before the game" if he's to be active for Super Bowl XLV.
He's officially questionable, but the reports haven't been encouraging. McCarthy said the team will make a final decision on his status around 2:00 CT tomorrow. If he can't go, Frank Zombo will again start in his place. The drop-off between the two is not a large one, but it would obviously be a huge plus for Green Bay if both were active.

Sat Feb 5 201114:54Packers OLB Walden misses walk-through, GTD
Packers OLB Erik Walden (ankle, questionable) missed Saturday's walk-through and will be a game-time decision.
Walden is the only Green Bay player in danger of missing Sunday's Super Bowl, though he may be available for a limited role even if he doesn't start. Frank Zombo is next up on the depth chart to see snaps across from Clay Matthews.

Fri Feb 4 201116:48Erik Walden limited in Friday's practice
Packers OLB Erik Walden (ankle, questionable) was limited in Friday's practice.
He may be available for a limited role in Super Bowl XLV. While the Packers have been better off with Walden, they've at least got a backup with some experience in Frank Zombo. Zombo is likely to see plenty of single teams off the edge with Pittsburgh focusing more on Clay Matthews and B.J. Raji.

Thu Feb 3 201118:40Walden's status 'up in the air' for Sunday
The status of Packers OLB Erik Walden (ankle) is "up in the air" after he was held out of team drills again Thursday.
It sounds like Walden had a setback. "He was very sore, which is why we limited him today," McCarthy said. "We'll see how he feels tomorrow. Even if he feels a lot better, he'll be limited. I'm going to hold him back and give him every chance to be ready for the game." Frank Zombo is running with the first-team in Walden's absence.

Wed Feb 2 201118:40Walden practices Wednesday
Packers OLB Erik Walden (ankle) returned to practice Wednesday.
Coach Mike McCarthy says Walden will retain his starting job if he's able to play against the Steelers, and his return to practice bodes well. He'll need to keep practicing and avoid setbacks to be green lighted Sunday.
Tue Feb 1 201117:18Walden says ankle sprain won't keep him out
Packers OLB Erik Walden maintains that his ankle injury will not keep him out of the Super Bowl.
Walden admitted that the injury was of the high-ankle variety, but he expects to return to practice Wednesday. Walden sustained the injury just a week and a half ago, so there's a good chance he'll be at far less than full strength against the Steelers.
