Fri Aug 5 201119:11Major Wright joins Bears' starting defense
As expected, Major Wright has been moved into the Bears' starting lineup at strong safety, bookending FS Chris Harris.
"He's an -excellent tackler," observed DC Rod Marinelli. "He's got good ball skills. Plays in space well. Usually that second year in our system is when guys make a big step." Danieal Manning racked up seven pass breakups, 72 tackles, and one interception at the position last year, but Wright is a more physical player. He may be a slight downgrade in terms of coverage.

Wed Jun 15 201116:43Major Wright appears on porn advertisement
Bears S Major Wright has come under fire for allowing his photo to be used as a promotional tool for a pornography event called "Exxxotica Expo 2011."
It's a slow news day so we suppose this is worth a blurb. Wright and four other players are featured on the porn advertisement, and NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy says the league is looking into the matter. "Our legal team is reviewing the ad," said McCarthy. "In general, companies not affiliated with the NFL or its clubs may not depict a player in his uniform."

Tue Mar 8 201118:46Major Wright expected to start in 2011
The Bears are expected to move Major Wright into the starting lineup this year.
Danieal Manning seems intent on landing a big contract in free agency, so he's gone unless a market for his services fails to materialize. If not for an early-season hamstring injury, Wright may have worked his way into starter's snaps as a rookie. Wright could slide in at free safety, as Chris Harris is better suited to strong safety.

Mon Nov 1 201013:02Wright likely to return in Week 9
The Chicago Tribune's Brad Biggs expects Bears FS Major Wright (hamstring) to return to action in Week 9.
Wright has been sidelined since suffering a hamstring injury in Week 2. He'd been on his way to winning a starting spot before the injury, but the Bears will likely work him in slowly upon his return.

Fri Oct 22 201008:56Major Wright returns to practice field
Bears FS Major Wright (hamstring) has returned to the practice field, but there's no timetable for his return to game action.
Wright said he's taking it "day-by-day" because he doesn't want a situation where he re-injures the hamstring by pushing too hard. The Bears are on bye next week, which makes Nov. 7 against the Bills the likely return date.

Sun Oct 3 201019:01Bears declare inactives
Bears declared S Major Wright, CB Joshua Moore, RB Kahlil Bell, LT Chris Williams, TE Desmond Clark, DE Corey Wootton, and DT Marcus Harrison inactive for Week 4 against the Giants.
Frank Omiyale starts at left tackle and will square off a banged-up Osi Umenyiora for most of Sunday night's game. Clark has been playing very poorly and is a healthy scratch. With Tommie Harris active this week, Harrison is down. Matt Toeaina is still expected to start at the three technique.
Thu Sep 23 201009:07Report: Wright to miss at least three weeks
Bears S Major Wright (hamstring) is expected to miss at least three weeks, a source tells beat writer Sean Jensen.
Wright wasn't injury prone at Florida, but he can't seem to stay healthy with the Bears. After a finger injury marred his training camp, Chris Harris and Danieal Manning have locked themselves in as the Bears' safety duo.

Sun Sep 19 201013:45Bears rookie Major Wright done for the day
Bears S Major Wright is done for the day with a hamstring injury.
Chris Harris started at strong safety, and Wright didn't see much time on defense in the first quarter. The Cowboys have stuck to the ground attack thus far, but Tony Romo will be attacking the Bears' secondary soon enough.
Mon Sep 13 201010:36Bears rely heavily on Major Wright
Bears FS Major Wright played the last two series of the game Sunday and would up with more snaps than starter Chris Harris.
The Bears rotated their safeties, but it's clear they have a lot of confidence in the rookie. Expect him to officially unseat Harris at some point. He's worth keeping an eye on for IDP purposes.

Sun Sep 12 201018:47Bears use rotation at safety
The Bears used a rotation at safety in Sunday's opener against Detroit, with rookie Major Wright and Chris Harris splitting snaps.
Wright wound up playing more than Harris at free safety, while SS Danieal Manning played the whole game. Manning was the leading tackler at the position with four. The situation should be avoided in IDP until we see clarity.

Sat Sep 11 201009:33Major Wright a difference maker in Chicago
It's becoming a foregone conclusion in Chicago that Major Wright will beat out either FS Chris Harris or SS Daniel Manning.
Wright will have a major impact this season regardless of which position he ends up at. He should be named the starter within the next couple of weeks if he stays healthy.

Wed Sep 8 201014:35Major Wright has pin removed from finger
Bears FS Major Wright had the pin removed from his surgically repaired left index finger on Wednesday.
"I'm ready to play," he said. "I'm full-go." The Bears' ideal lineup in the secondary consists of Wright at free safety, Chris Harris at strong safety, Peanut Tillman and Zack Bowman on the corners, and Danieal Manning at nickel back. If Wright is able to play fully Sunday, Manning could kick from strong safety to the nickel, upgrading significantly over D.J. Moore.

Mon Sep 6 201019:08Major Wright resumes practicing fully
Bears rookie FS Major Wright has resumed practicing in live drills with a splint on his surgically repaired finger.
It's believed Wright missed too much practice time to unseat Danieal Manning, but he should do so early in the year. Wright may be inactive until he moves up the depth chart, though, unless he's able to produce in kick coverage.

Thu Sep 2 201022:51Wright will not start early in the season
Bears GM Jerry Angelo confirmed that FS Major Wright (finger surgery) will not start early in the season.
"Maybe he could've been that exception to the rule as a rookie and he could've come in here and started," Angelo said of Wright missing practice time due to injury. Danieal Manning will open the season as the starter, but Wright should begin pushing him by mid-season at the latest.

Mon Aug 23 201015:17Major Wright resumes practicing
Bears FS Major Wright has (finger surgery) resumed practicing, but is not taking part in contact drills.
He's working in a red, no-contact jersey. Wright's status for Chicago's opener is unclear, but his return to the playing field indicates that the Bears want him to stay heavily involved. He's going to start early in the year.

Thu Aug 19 201013:47Wright has setback, likely out for opener
Bears third-round S Major Wright (finger surgery) had a setback and is now unlikely to be ready for Week 1.
Wright was pushing hard for a starting gig all offseason, so this is a blow to the Bears' secondary. Chris Harris and Danieal Manning are the likely starters for Week 1, but Wright should be in the mix for significant action once he's healthy.

Wed Aug 18 201008:31Wright's surgery goes well
Coach Lovie Smith said that S Major Wright's finger surgery went well and he isn't ruling his rookie out for Week 1.
Wright is likely done for the preseason, which is disappointing for the Bears because he was getting first-team reps and impressing. The Bears' top draft choice should be in the starting lineup sooner rather than later.

Mon Aug 16 201016:15Major Wright to have surgery Tuesday
Bears rookie S Major Wright will undergo surgery Tuesday to repair a fractured left index finger.
He may be done for the preseason, but should be back by Week 1. Wright looked like Chicago's best defensive back in the exhibition opener, and should win a starting job early in the year. The injury, though, obviously won't help.
