Tue Feb 7 201220:16William Beatty (eye) gets the go-ahead
Giants LT William Beatty (detached retina) has been medically cleared to resume playing.
Including the playoffs, Beatty missed the Giants' final 10 games. He was inconsistent before going down, particularly in pass protection, but David Diehl was arguably worse in his absence. Set to make just $565,000 in 2012, Beatty should be back with the G-Men.

Wed Nov 30 201115:34Giants place LT William Beatty on I.R.
Giants placed left tackle William Beatty on inured reserve with a detached retina, ending his season.
Beatty was facing long odds of returning this season after undergoing surgery last Thursday. It's a big blow to a Giants' offensive line that made a struggling Saints' pass rush look good on Monday evening, and again failed to get any push in the running game. For now, David Diehl will serve as Eli Manning's blindside protector.

Wed Nov 23 201117:13William Beatty has detached retina
Giants LT William Beatty will undergo surgery to repair a detached right retina Thursday, and is out indefinitely.
Beatty could end up on injured reserve, but the Giants won't have a timetable for his return until after his operation. Pro Football Focus has graded Beatty as below average at left tackle this season, so his loss shouldn't be a crippling blow for the Giants. Stacy Andrews and LG David Diehl are both candidates to protect Eli Manning's blindside during Beatty's absence.

Fri Jul 29 201120:07Beatty will take over as left tackle
Will Beatty will take over as the Giants left tackle, pushing David Diehl inside to guard.
A foot injury limited Beatty to just eight games last season after failing to beat out Diehl in training camp. The Giants drafted Beatty in the second-round of the 2009 draft as the future left tackle, and they've decided the time is right. He'll be in the spotlight this year.

Giants OT William Beatty (foot surgery) is on track to return sometime during November.

Thu Sep 16 201020:01Beatty undergoes surgery on foot
Giants OT William Beatty underwent surgery Thursday to repair a broken fifth metatarsal bone in his right foot.
Beatty struggled in his competition with veteran LT David Diehl this summer, but he was penciled in as one of the league's premier swing tackles. Shawn Andrews will be moved back outside now that Beatty is out 6-8 weeks.

Wed Sep 15 201010:32Beatty out 6-8 weeks
Giants OT William Beatty (foot) is expected to miss 6-8 weeks.
No word yet if the Giants will place the "swing" tackle on injured reserve. It's a blow to the Giants as Beatty is one of the better backup tackles in the league.

Mon Sep 13 201015:03William Beatty is out indefinitely
Giants OT William Beatty is out indefinitely with a fractured foot.
He'll need surgery, though there are no known plans to place him on I.R. yet. If it's a Lisfranc fracture, that's where he's headed. A starting-caliber "swing" tackle, Beatty's indefinite loss is a big blow to New York's depth on the line.

Sun Sep 12 201018:14William Beatty leaves in walking boot
Giants OT William Beatty left the stadium in a walking boot following Sunday's win over Carolina.
An initial X-ray on Beatty's right foot "looked fine," he said, but two more were taken, and he's yet to see the results. Beatty is an integral piece on the line as a swing tackle, and he has plenty of starting experience.

Thu Jun 17 201013:03Beatty vs. Seubert for one starting job
Coach Tom Coughlin confirmed that OT William Beatty is essentially competing with LG Rich Seubert for one starting job this summer.
If Beatty beats out David Diehl at left tackle, Diehl will move inside to take Seubert's guard spot. Coughlin warned not to bet against Seubert, but he wouldn't be considering the move if played up to expectations last season.
