Nicks had just one catch on five targets for 27 yards in Sunday's 51-34 loss at Pittsburgh.
Considering Nicks started for an injured Reggie Wayne (elbow) and Andrew Luck threw for 400 yards, it was a very disappointing performance from the veteran wideout. Meanwhile, rookie Donte Moncrief busted out in a big way Sunday, catching seven passes (on 12 targets) for 113 yards and a touchdown. Interestingly, Moncrief looks and plays like Nicks in his prime; a big player with good speed that can win jump balls in traffic. The Colts have been loyal to their veteran players in the past, so while Nicks might not be completely phased out of the offense, it would be a surprise if Moncrief isn't used more moving forward, regardless of Wayne's status.

Nicks is slated to start in place of Reggie Wayne on Sunday against the Steelers, the Indianapolis Star reports.
With Wayne (who has recorded 62 targets in seven games to date) out Sunday, fellow wideout T.Y. Hilton will remain busy as usual, with both Nicks and Donte Moncrief now in line for added looks in the Colts' Week 8 offense.
Fri Oct 24 201414:12Nicks expected to see increased targets against Steelers
With Reggie Wayne (elbow) declared out for Sunday's game, Nicks is expected to see increased targets against the Steelers.
Andrew Luck has thrown Wayne's way nearly nine times per game, so those looks have to go somewhere, and Nicks and Donte Moncrief are the most likely beneficiaries. Pittsburgh's pass defense has been up and down this season (13th in yards allowed), but Luck and the Colts' passing attack have proven they can be successful against pretty much any defense.

Nicks caught 2-of-7 targets for 18 yards in Thursday's 33-28 win over the Texans.
Nicks has logged well over half of the snaps in a prolific passing offense, but he's far behind T.Y. Hilton and Reggie Wayne in the pecking order, and has been rather inefficient with his 31 targets this season. Never the quickest receiver, Nicks is struggling to get separation from defensive backs, as was the case in 2012 and 2013.

Nicks had just three receptions on six targets for 29 yards in Sunday's win over Baltimore.
Nicks still hasn't had more than 50 yards in any one game this year, although he's capable of putting up bigger numbers with Andrew Luck running a strong offense. On the other hand, Luck has so many weapons at his disposal, and Nicks appears to have lost a step, at least form the naked eye.

Nicks caught just two passes (on six targets) for 12 yards Sunday versus the Titans.
Nicks is listed as the Colts' No. 3 receiver and his six targets Sunday only ranked behind T.Y. Hilton (10) and Reggie Wayne (eight), but Nicks failed to make much of an impact against the Titans. In fact, through four games with the Colts, Nicks is yet to top 50 yards, even though his two touchdowns have certainly been useful for fantasy owners. Looking ahead, Nicks will face the Ravens in Week 5.

Nicks caught all four passes thrown his way for 50 yards and a touchdown Sunday against the Jaguars.
Nicks bounced back from his minus-four yards in Week 2 to score his second touchdown in three games, a huge total considering he failed to score at all last year in 15 games. Nicks' touchdown came on a goal-line throw to put the Colts up 37-3 and given his size, he could continue to get looks from in close. Up next is a tough matchup against a Titans defense that has been very good against the pass this season.

Nicks (illness) is active for Sunday's game at Jacksonville, ESPN reports.
Nicks missed practice on Thursday and Friday, but got another day of rest Saturday and looks set to play. However, it's not clear if he'll be at full strength.

Nicks (illness) did not participate in Friday's practice and is listed as questionable this week against Jacksonville.
Nicks has missed the last two practices due to an illness. He still has time to get healthy and there's no word the ailment is serious, but check his status before kickoff.
Fri Sep 19 201411:23Nicks (illness) not spotted at Friday's practice
Nicks (illness) was not spotted at Friday's practice, Stephen Holder of the Indianapolis Star reports.
Nicks sat out Thursday's practice with the illness, and it appears he will sit out for the second straight day. Despite the missed practice time, he still has a chance to play Sunday given that he is dealing with an illness and not a structural setback.

Nicks did not practice Thursday due to an illness.
Nicks was able to practice Wednesday, so we can only assume this is minor. Check to see if he can return to practice Friday.

Nicks lost four yards on his lone reception in Monday's 30-27 loss to the Eagles.
Nicks didn't play many snaps and was targeted just three times, as the Colts took an early lead, and then piled up 38 carries. Still, Reggie Wayne (seven) and T.Y. Hilton (11) combined for 18 targets, while Nicks largely watched from the sideline. Even if the Indy passing game shapes up as expected, Nicks is likely in for an inconsistent year.

Nicks caught five passes for 36 yards and a touchdown on five targets in Sunday's 31-24 loss to the Broncos.
Nicks got the touchdown monkey off his back after a score-less 2013, thanks to a lucky deflection off the defensive back covering him. He still did well to bring the pass down, and was able to haul in each of his five targets on the night. Though his first performance for the Colts was solid, Nicks finished tied for fifth on the team in targets, behind Reggie Wayne (13), T.Y. Hilton (11), Coby Fleener (eight) and Ahmad Bradshaw (six), sitting even with Dwayne Allen (five). The Colts have no shortage of options for Andrew Luck to pass to, and it would seem that both Wayne and Hilton are going to log more snaps than Nicks. On the bright side, Nicks is in a much better offense than what he was stuck with last season, and it won't be surprising if he's a regular visitor to the end zone.

Nicks caught five passes for 53 yards on five targets in Saturday's preseason game against the Giants.
Nicks had extra motivation facing his former team, and there wasn't a ton of competition for targets with both T.Y. Hilton and Reggie Wayne (knee) resting. It was still an encouraging performance, as Nicks also had a 36-yard gain wiped out by a taunting penalty. His minor injury doesn't look like a major concern, but he'll still have plenty of competition for Andrew Luck's attention once the regular-season begins. If he continues to impress, Nicks may have a shot to usurp Hilton as the starting receiver opposite Wayne in two-wide formations.
Thu Aug 7 201420:35Nicks (foot) dealing with some nagging pains
Nicks (foot), who caught one pass for 15 yards in Thursday's preseason opener against the Jets, has been dealing with some nagging pains, the Indianapolis Star reports.
Nicks was bothered by a sore foot earlier in the week, and he may be dealing with other minor ailments. The injuries might help to explain a recent report -- based off the comments of offensive coordinator Pep Hamilton -- which indicated that the veteran wideout hasn't looked good in practice. In any case, Nicks was fine Thursday night, as he drew two targets on Andrew Luck's five passes, with the other three looks going to T.Y. Hilton. According to NFL.com, Nicks said the comments from Hamilton were actually harmless because the Colts' OC just meant that a bunch of players are still working their way into game shape. Nicks is currently positioned as the Colts' No. 3 wideout, with Hilton and Reggie Wayne (knee) expected to work together in two-wide sets. Nicks is obviously talented enough to make a case for more snaps in two-wide formations, but in light of his extensive injury history, it's a bit concerning that he may already be banged up.
Tue Aug 5 201412:03Nicks dealing with sore foot
Nicks is dealing with a sore foot, but will practice Tuesday, the Indianapolis Star reports.
Nicks has a history of foot problems, so the most recent news of soreness is hardly reassuring. Although Nicks will still practice, the wideout's recent seasons have been plagued by lingering ailments, making his situation one to monitor. Further, reports over the weekend suggested Nicks was still working his way into game shape, another potential issue. It's certainly possible the Colts are including Nicks in practice to improve his conditioning before Thursday's preseason opener, although his playing status has yet to be addressed.

Colts offensive coordinator Pep Hamilton said Saturday that he thinks Nicks, "is still working to get himself in game shape," NFL.com reports.
Though Nicks has been the subject of motivational concerns in the past, he's also been lauded for his work ethic, and his injury history is the bigger issue. While there's no indication that he's hurt, the 26-year-old receiver does have some concerns with his surgically-repaired knee and balky foot/ankle. One comment from the offensive coordinator is no reason to panic, but it's not what prospective fantasy owners want to hear in regards to a wide receiver surrounded by question marks.
Mon Mar 17 201409:45Hakeem Nicks' tip-toed through 2013?
Beat writer Dan Graziano says it seemed clear that Hakeem Nicks "chief motivation" last season "was to stay healthy so that he could cash in as a free agent."
The Colts are hoping that Nicks' effectiveness was sapped by his mind, not an accumulation of lower-body injuries. He posted a 56-896-0 line, reportedly frustrating coaches with his inability to get open and make plays. The other concern is that 26-year-old Nicks is now operating on a one-year deal once again, leaving Graziano to wonder if he'll tip-toe through another season. There are a lot of yellow flags here despite Nicks' natural talent and the presence of Andrew Luck.

Fri Mar 14 201419:16Colts and Hakeem Nicks agree to one-year deal
Colts agreed to terms with Hakeem Nicks, formerly of the Giants, on a one-year deal.
GM Ryan Grigson has reputation for being a closer, so it was always unlikely Nicks left Indianapolis without a deal. Still only 26-years-old, Nicks would theoretically provide playmaking ability on the outside, allowing T.Y. Hilton and Reggie Wayne to move around the formation. If his heart is in it, the Colts will provide Nicks the offense and opportunity to reemerge as a fantasy relevant wide receiver.
