Bengals fourth-round pick Geno Atkins was born with a sickle cell trait that can cause dehydration. |
Atkins inherited the complication from his father, who played ten years in the NFL. The Bengals were aware of it when they drafted Atkins, and he says he tries to stay in "the best shape I can, so it doesn't affect me too much." Atkins is slated for situational interior pass rushing duties this year. |

Though undersized, Atkins showed explosive first-step quickness in a productive career with UGA. Also possessing a good motor, instincts, and a high football IQ, Atkins will develop into a solid rotational tackle for the Bengals. Cincy still needs to pick up a safety of the future. |
