Mon Sep 10 201211:26Seahawks LT Okung escapes with bone bruise
CBS' Jason La Canfora reports Seahawks LT Russell Okung has been diagnosed with a bone bruise in his left knee.
It's excellent news for the Seahawks, as it means Russell Wilson's blindside protector has avoided ligament damage. Bone bruises can be extremely painful, but it's likely Okung will play through the injury against Dallas in Week 2. It Okung can't go, the Seahawks would be forced to turn to journeyman Frank Omiyale as they look to slow down DeMarcus Ware.

Seahawks LT Russell Okung has "picked up right where he left off" before he suffered a season-ending torn pectoral muscle last December.
"I felt like the four weeks prior to his injury last year, we were seeing who he is," OL coach Cable said. "Thus far in camp, and one preseason game, he has done a fine job." The injury won't be a concern for Okung going forward.

Fri May 4 201217:18Russell Okung participating in workouts
Seahawks LT Russell Okung (pectoral surgery) is participating in voluntary offseason workouts.
It's a good sign for a player given a sixth-month timetable after December surgery for a torn right pectoral. Never injured as a four-year college starter, Okung has too often been on the shelf entering his third NFL season. The Seahawks will count on a big leap from Okung to turn their line into a formidable unit.

Tue Dec 6 201116:26Seahawks lose LT Okung to injured reserve
Seahawks placed LT Russell Okung (pectoral) on injured reserve, ending his season.
Okung is expected to be sidelined for six months after tearing his right pectoral on a Trent Cole hip-toss late in last week's game. The Seattle O-Line has had little trouble opening holes for Marshawn Lynch despite losing the entire right side a couple weeks back. They'll be tested again with journeyman Paul McQuistan replacing Okung.

Mon Sep 5 201121:07Seahawks get back LT Russell Okung
Coach Pete Carroll confirmed that LT Russell Okung will be in the starting lineup when the Seahawks face the 49ers.
"He looks good, he's ready to go," Carroll said. "... He practiced enough last week to let us know that he would be ready this week." A difference maker for Seattle's offense, Okung shut down Bears RE Julius Peppers twice last season. The Seahawks' offensive line questions now look to be the competition at right tackle and left guard Robert Gallery's sprained knee.

Seahawks LT Russell Okung participated in team drills Wednesday for the first time since suffering a high left ankle sprain on August 11.

Fri Aug 19 201108:08Okung returns to limited practice
Seahawks LT Russell Okung (ankle) returned to a limited practice Thursday.
Although Okung "heard something pop" in his ankle during the preseason opener, he doesn't have a high ankle sprain. He did work in individual drills yesterday and coach Pete Carroll says full work is one or two weeks away. It will be a surprise if Okung isn't 100 percent for Week 1.

Tue Aug 16 201116:20Seahawks hope for Okung's return in 2 weeks
Coach Pete Carroll is hopeful that LT Russell Okung will return in "a couple of weeks."
"Russell is way better than he had been in either one of the other two ankle sprains that he had," Carroll said. "He's bouncing around pretty good right now, not wearing the boot. You wouldn't know he was hurt [if you saw him] walking around. Definitely had a little tissue damage there in there, but it's not as serious as before."

Tue Aug 16 201108:31Okung goes through the walkthrough
Seahawks LT Russell Okung (ankle) participated in Monday's walkthrough.
It's a sign that Okung's ankle injury may not be quite as bad as initially feared. Even though it wasn't a full-speed practice, he likely would have been watching from the sideline if he had a true high ankle sprain. We'll know more after the Seahawks return to regular practice today.

Sat Aug 13 201119:52Okung not ruled out for Week 1
Seahawks HC Pete Carroll said on Saturday that LT Russell Okung's ankle injury is "isn't as bad as it looks," and that it's possible he'll be ready for Week 1.
Okung was walking with only a slight limp at practice on Saturday, but Carroll's comments make it obvious that his absence is still going to be measured in weeks, not days.

Sat Aug 13 201116:56Okung not in walking boot at practice
Seahawks LT Russell Okung (ankle) did not dress for Saturday's practice, but watched from the sidelines without a walking boot on.
The good news is that the injury he suffered in Thursday night's preseason game doesn't look to be serious, though he was seen walking with a slight limp. Okung has a history of high ankle sprains, and while it's impossible to rule that out until we get official word, it looks as though the second-year pro has dodged a bullet.

Fri Aug 12 201111:03Russell Okung 'felt something pop'
Seahawks coach Pete Carroll says LT Russell Okung "felt something pop" in his left ankle during Thursday night's preseason opener.
"He's real disappointed obviously," said Carroll. "It wasn't even a contact foul." Okung is scheduled for a Friday MRI. Though X-rays came back negative during the game, those exams only test for bone fractures. We suspect Okung has yet another high ankle sprain. Perhaps Seattle will give free agent Mario Henderson a look. He has history with OL coach Tom Cable.

Thu Aug 11 201123:54Seattle LT Okung may have high ankle sprain
Following Thursday's preseason opener, Seahawks coach Pete Carroll hinted that LT Russell Okung indeed has another high left ankle sprain.
"It's in that area," Carroll acknowledged. The Seahawks are familiar with Okung's high ankle sprains because he suffered one on each leg last season, the more serious to Okung's left side. It's the same ankle he injured tonight. Week 1 is still a full month away, but these can be 4-6 week injuries. It's a big concern for an offense that looked totally out of sync Thursday night.
