Sat Feb 22 201413:01Saints interested in retaining Meachem
New Orleans and free agent Robert Meachem's representatives reportedly have discussed the possibility of a new contract.
The move would make sense as the Saints probably value Meachem more than any other team in the NFL. Sean Payton values Meachem's ability to block downfield, and Meachem had a disastrous stint with San Diego the last time he left New Orleans. No matter what happens, Meachem is unlikely to be a fantasy factor in 2014.

Sat Feb 8 201420:47Cowboys could have interest in WR Meachem
ESPN.com's Todd Archer expects the Cowboys to show interest in free agent Robert Meachem this offseason.
Meachem would be no higher than the Cowboys' No. 4 receiver if signed, but could brought in as a low-paid veteran to replace Miles Austin, who is widely expected to be released as a post-June 1 cut. Meachem, 29, had 16 catches, 324 yards, and two touchdowns in 15 games with the Saints in 2013. He'll be limited to non-guaranteed one-year deals in free agency.

Sat Jan 11 201420:36Robert Meachem has two-catch day vs. SEA
Robert Meachem caught two passes for 69 yards in New Orleans' Divisional Round loss to the Seahawks.
52 of Meachem's yards came on a fluky fourth-quarter pass that should have been intercepted by Earl Thomas. Instead, the ball bounced off Thomas' hands right into Meachem's bread basket. Released by the Chargers in August, Meachem proved he wasn't dead for the Saints by catching 16 passes for 324 yards in 15 games, but is no guarantee to be back for 2014. Going on 30, the deep-ball specialist is headed to the open market.

Robert Meachem caught one pass for 40 yards in Saturday's Wild Card win at Philadelphia.
Meachem made his one target count. On a 1st-and-10 from their own 37-yard line in the fourth quarter, the Saints dialed up a double move for Meachem and he broke wide open. The situational deep threat will see another one or two targets against the Seahawks in the Divisional Round next week.

Robert Meachem caught one pass for 17 yards in Week 10 against the Cowboys.
It was his only target of the night. Meachem had a season-high 93 receiving yards with Marques Colston (knee) sidelined in Week 9, but remains behind Kenny Stills and Lance Moore for targets. He can continued to be avoided in all fantasy leagues.

Sun Sep 22 201318:00Robert Meachem gets TD on first catch
Robert Meachem caught two passes for 34 yards with a touchdown in Sunday's Week 3 win over the Cardinals.
Meachem's first catch of his second tour with the Saints went for a score. Drew Brees faked a screen pass to Darren Sproles and then found Meachem deep behind the secondary. It looks like he's already forced at least an even timeshare with Kenny Stills at the No. 3 wideout spot. Still, there will be far too much inconsistency to make a fantasy add.

Robert Meachem recorded no catches in Sunday's Week 2 win over the Bucs.
Making his second tour of duty with the Saints, Meachem was active for the first time in this one. He saw one deep bomb from Drew Brees and couldn't come up with it. Meachem remains behind Kenny Stills.

Sat Aug 10 201319:13Report: Robert Meachem has 'broken down' body
A person familiar with Robert Meachem's situation told the Union-Tribune San Diego that Meachem's body has "broken down" and isn't what it once was.
Meachem is only 28 years old. He battled a hamstring injury for a brief period last year and had a knee scope in the 2012 offseason, but otherwise he's stayed off the shelf in recent seasons. Columnist Kevin Acee says Meachem can no longer separate, runs bad routes, has unreliable hands, and "has no business being on the field." Acee believes the Chargers should cut Meachem.

Fri Aug 9 201315:41Robert Meachem buried on depth chart
The Chargers' preseason opener showed Robert Meachem "is still buried" on the depth chart.
At best, Meachem is San Diego's No. 5 wideout behind Malcom Floyd, Vincent Brown, Eddie Royal, and rookie Keenan Allen. Meachem would be off the roster already if former GM A.J. Smith hadn't fully guaranteed his $5 million base salary.

Tue Aug 6 201319:50Robert Meachem listed as 3rd-stringer
Robert Meachem was listed as a third-stringer on the Chargers' initial training camp depth chart.
This was before Danario Alexander's ACL tear. Meachem was listed behind Malcom Floyd and Vincent Brown, with Alexander, Eddie Royal, and Keenan Allen on the other side. Meachem has had a healthy spring, but was not signed by the Chargers' current regime and is one of the most overpaid players in football. He's only on the roster because ex-GM A.J. Smith guaranteed Meachem's $5 million salary. Per the U-T San Diego, Meachem has looked "decent, at best, in camp."

Fri Jul 26 201311:12Chargers say Meachem won't be factor in 2013
CBS Sports' Clark Judge reports that a source close to the Chargers is convinced that Robert Meachem "won't be a factor" this season.
Meachem would almost certainly be released if not for his guaranteed $5 million salary. Barring an unexpected trade, the Chargers will be forced to carry him as their No. 5 receiver.
