Wed Jul 3 201316:27Unlikely SD could find Meachem trade partner
ESPN.com's Bill Williamson "highly doubts" the Chargers could find a trade partner for Robert Meachem.
Meachem's $5 million salary is fully guaranteed, making him impossible to trade and unlikely to be cut. Meachem is getting a fresh start under the Bolts' new braintrust, but the fact that he couldn't make himself a factor as a deep threat under vertically-obsessed former coach Norval Turner bodes very poorly for his 2013. Meachem is entirely off the fantasy radar.

Tue Jun 25 201308:58Robert Meachem a 'lock' to make the roster
The Union-Tribune considers Robert Meachem a "practical lock" to make the Chargers' final roster.
Meachem will make the team because of his contract, not his play on the field. His $5 million base salary is fully guaranteed and cutting him would result in a $6.75 million cap hit. At training camp, Meachem was not part of a first-team receiving unit that included Danario Alexander, Malcom Floyd, Vincent Brown and Eddie Royal. He's insurance along with third-round rookie Keenan Allen.

Thu Jun 13 201317:36Meachem still buried on Chargers depth chart
The Union-Tribune San Diego confirms that Robert Meachem "still seems buried on the depth chart."
Meachem is getting more opportunities in practice under a new coaching staff, but he still can't leap Danario Alexander, Vincent Brown, or Malcom Floyd. Meachem's $5 million base salary is fully guaranteed, so he likely isn't going to get cut. The Chargers may look to showcase him for a possible trade in the preseason. For now, Meachem is well off the fantasy radar.

Mon Nov 26 201212:23Robert Meachem plays only two snaps
Robert Meachem played only two snaps in Sunday's loss.
Meachem played 18 fewer snaps than Seyi Ajirotutu, and two fewer than rookie tight end Ladarius Green. Meachem simply hasn't progressed from his underachieving days in New Orleans, though his salary - he's due a guaranteed $5 million - ensures he'll be back in 2013. Meachem has two catches in four games since the Chargers' Week 7 bye.

Sun Nov 25 201221:05Meachem doesn't play in Week 12 loss
Robert Meachem didn't register on the stat sheet in Week 12 against the Ravens and saw zero targets in the passing game.
Meachem may not have even played a single snap on Sunday. Danario Alexander has fully overtaken his job, and Seyi Ajirotutu even saw a couple of targets in three-receiver sets over Meachem. Meachem shouldn't even be sniffing fantasy rosters at the moment.

Sun Nov 18 201220:30Meachem held to one catch for ten yards
Robert Meachem caught one ball for 10 yards in the Chargers' Week 11 loss to the Broncos.
He was targeted twice, playing off the bench in a third-receiver role behind Danario Alexander and Malcom Floyd. Meachem isn't going anywhere because his 2012 and 2013 base salaries are guaranteed, but he's fallen out of favor in the offense and for good reason. He should be dropped in all re-draft leagues.

Wed Nov 14 201220:23Meachem and Royal absent from injury report
Robert Meachem and Eddie Royal are not on the Week 11 injury report.
Both receivers had been dealing with hamstring issues lately. This is Royal's first time not on the injury report since Week 5, and Meachem was on it for the past two weeks. However, we don't expect either player to be relevant fantasy options for the remainder of the campaign. Malcom Floyd and Danario Alexander should be owned in all formats.

Mon Nov 12 201218:31Meachem's 2013 base salary is guaranteed
According to The Sideline View's Adam Caplan, Robert Meachem's $5 million base salary in 2013 is fully guaranteed.
In order to release Meachem -- who lost his starting job to street free agent Danario Alexander -- the Chargers would have to eat the $5 million in addition to absorbing that cap hit on top of signing bonus proration. Meachem signed a four-year, $25.9 million deal in March. He received $7.5 million to sign. The contract makes it likely Meachem will return to San Diego next season, but through nine games he's been a complete free-agent bust.

Mon Nov 12 201202:26Meachem was targeted once in Week 10 loss
Robert Meachem caught his only target for a gain of eight yards in the Chargers' Week 10 loss to Tampa Bay.
Meachem has lost his starting job to Danario Alexander and can be dropped in fantasy leagues. "Honestly, it didn't matter," Meachem said afterwards. "We were winning. We were moving the ball. Yeah, I would love to be out there. Yeah, I would love to play. But when things are going right, how can you pout?"

Fri Nov 9 201214:13Robert Meachem on track to play Sunday
Robert Meachem (hamstring, probable) turned in a full week of practice and is on pace to play Sunday against Tampa Bay.
Eddie Royal (hamstring, probable) is also on pace to play. Meachem and Royal's health should no longer be a concern, but the Chargers' promise to add Danario Alexander into the receiver rotation is a concern for Royal and Meachem's box-score production. They will play fewer snaps and see fewer targets.

Wed Nov 7 201216:52Meachem and Royal practiced on Wednesday
Robert Meachem (hamstring) and Eddie Royal (hamstring) both practiced on Wednesday.
Meachem missed the Chargers' last game, and Royal has been out for the past two. With both receivers sidelined the Chargers went with Danario Alexander and Seyi Ajirotutu in Sunday's win over the Chiefs. Coach Norv Turner promised last week that Alexander would maintain a "big" role in the Chargers' offense moving forward, but it will be interesting to see if Turner keeps that promise when San Diego gets Royal and Meachem back.

Tue Nov 6 201211:54Robert Meachem unsure if he'll play
Robert Meachem (hamstring) said Monday he's unsure if he will play against the Bucs in Week 10.
Meachem said he's making progress and he'll reevaluate the situation on Wednesday. Even if he suits up, he'll be rotating with Danario Alexander. Meachem is off the fantasy radar as he's been held without a catch in three separate games this season.

Fri Nov 2 201215:21Turner: Meachem, Royal were close to playing
Coach Norv Turner said Friday that Robert Meachem (hamstring) and Eddie Royal (hamstring) were both "close" to playing in Thursday night's game, and the Chargers are optimistic about their Week 10 availability.
That's great, but we're not so sure the Chargers aren't better off rolling with hungry youngsters Danario Alexander and Seyi Ajirotutu. Meachem and Royal have both been unproductive, error-prone free-agent busts, and the Chargers operated far more smoothly with Alexander and Ajirotutu in there against the Chiefs. Meachem figures to get his job back simply because he costs so much money.

Wed Oct 31 201215:56Robert Meachem officially questionable
Robert Meachem (hamstring) is questionable for Thursday Night Football against the Chiefs.
He was held out of Wednesday's practice after being limited on Tuesday. The perpetrator of perhaps the season's worst drop in Week 8 will be a game-time decision. He's off the fantasy radar either way.

Tue Oct 30 201218:28Meachem limited in Tuesday's practice
Robert Meachem was limited in Tuesday's practice with a hamstring injury.
Coach Norv Turner said Meachem is "a little sore," and the team will see how he is on Wednesday. Held without a catch in three games this season, Meachem is not a fantasy option versus the Chiefs Thursday night.

Sun Oct 28 201217:37Robert Meachem drops an easy touchdown
Robert Meachem did not catch any of his three targets in the Chargers' Week 8 loss to the Browns.
It's been an awful season for Meachem, but this may have been his worst game. In the third quarter, he found himself wide open by 10 yards on a deep post. Philip Rivers threw a perfect ball for a would-be 51-yard touchdown, but Meachem dropped it. It's one of the worst drops you'll ever see in an NFL game. With 12 catches in seven games this season, Meachem is way off the fantasy radar.

Tue Oct 16 201201:00Meachem catches three passes in Week 6
Robert Meachem caught three passes for 30 yards in San Diego's Week 6 defeat.
Meachem saw seven targets come his way on Monday night, as fellow receiver Malcom Floyd was locked up by Denver's Champ Bailey for much of the contest. He continues to be a fantasy disappointment in 2012, and he doesn't see quite enough targets behind Floyd and Antonio Gates to be more than a WR5 going forward. San Diego enters the bye week before going to Cleveland in Week 8. If Joe Haden shadows Malcom Floyd, Meachem could be set up for a decent day.
