Bears RT Gabe Carimi opened training camp with "no injury concerns" after undergoing two knee surgeries since his rookie year.
Carimi also had knee problems at Wisconsin, but the second-year tackle and 2011 first-round pick is healthy now and projected as a starter. Carimi wound up playing only 100 snaps in his rookie year. Pro Football Focus graded him slightly negatively as both a pass and run blocker, but he should be better in 2012.

Bears RT Gabe Carimi practiced Tuesday for the first time since undergoing knee surgery in December.
Carimi underwent a follow-up procedure to connective tissue around his patella and MCL after a right knee subluxation ended his season in November. His participation level is unknown, as Tuesday's session was closed to the media. Wednesday's practice will be open, however.

Bears RT Gabe Carimi (knee surgery) confirmed that he plans to participate in all pre-training camp activities from this point on.
Carimi underwent two knee surgeries last year after dislocating his kneecap in Week 2. The former Wisconsin Badger also had knee issues in college. "I'm feeling really good," he said. "They're saying another couple of weeks and I'll be here for [OTAs] and minicamps. I'm just champing at the bit to get back."

Coach Lovie Smith now believes RT Gabe Carimi (knee surgery) will be "good to go" for offseason activities.
Smith was unsure a month ago if Carimi would be ready for OTAs. While Smith insists he's "comfortable" with Carimi at right tackle and J'Marcus Webb at left tackle, the Bears may still look to upgrade early in the draft. Webb surrendered a league-high 14 sacks in 2011.

Carmini, the No. 29 overall pick in this year's draft, was originally injured in Week 2 and tried to return to action after a scope. That didn't work. Now he'll need more invasive knee surgery and is looking at four months of rehab. According to the Chicago Tribune, several teams had a medical yellow flag on Carmini's knee coming out of Wisconsin.

Carimi underwent surgery to repair his subluxed knee one week ago after suffering a setback following the Week 2 injury. Lance Louis will remain Chicago's right tackle the rest of the way. Carimi showed promise in his first two appearances, and should return in 2012 with a good chance to retain his starting job. He's certainly viewed as the Bears' long-term right tackle.

Carimi doesn't have a timetable for a return, but for now Chicago will keep the No. 29 overall pick of last spring's draft on its active roster. Carimi was last active in Week 2. If he does return, it will likely be in a reserve role.

Carimi will undergo an arthroscopic debridement procedure on Friday. He's been out since suffering a kneecap subluxation in Week 2. For the second straight season, OL coach Mike Tice has done a fantastic job making adjustments with an under-manned unit up front.

Carimi hasn't played since Week 2, but the Bears' line is coming together nicely. Lance Louis has stepped in at right tackle and they have gone to max protections in an effort to keep Jay Cutler upright. Cutler wasn't sacked a single time in Monday's win over the Eagles.

The Chicago Sun-Times has reported that Carimi is out through midseason. Veteran Frank Omiyale gets another start. Safety Chris Harris (hamstring) is inactive, meaning Major Wright and Brandon Meriweather will line up across from each other. Other Bears inactives: QB Nate Enderle, WR Earl Bennett, TE Matt Spaeth, DT Stephen Paea and DE Mario Addison.

The rookie right tackle suffered a subluxation of the right kneecap in Week 2 against the Saints. Frank Omiyale - Carimi's replacement - is a big liability in protection.

According to the Chicago Sun Times, the Bears would be "fortunate" to have RT Gabe Carimi (knee) back before midseason.
"It's unfortunate because he was playing some of the best ball of all our guys," OL coach Mike Tice said. "He's an elite player. And when you lose a player like that for an extended period of time, it's never good." Frank Omiyale will replace Carimi at right tackle. Omiyale is a big liability in protection.

According to ESPN Chicago, Bears RT Gabe Carimi's right knee has actually been subluxed rather than dislocated.
The upshot is that the injury is not as serious as originally believed. Carimi did no significant damage to his ligaments. Though the injury is rare, Carimi had the same ailment in his college career at Wisconsin. Doctors tell ESPN Chicago that this is still a 4-6 week injury.

The Chicago Sun Times reports that Bears RT Gabe Carimi has a dislocated right knee and is expected to miss four weeks.
Coach Lovie Smith's Monday update was a "sprain," but that's what coaches always call knee injuries before tests are taken. Dislocated knees are rare, and it's unclear if Carimi will need surgery. Regardless, it's a major blow to a Bears offensive line that has made no strides in pass protection since last year. Carimi gave up a sack in Week 1, but was Chicago's best all-around lineman in Week 2.
