Wed Aug 6 201415:19Greene listed as 1st running back on Titans' initial depth chart...
Greene is listed as the No. 1 running back on the Titans' initial depth chart in advance of Saturday's preseason opener against Green Bay, The Tennessean reports.
Greene will continue to face stiff competition from rookie Bishop Sankey during preseason, while Dexter McCluster and Leon Washington are also competing for touches. Assuming he can stay healthy, Greene will likely get the first crack at the lead-back role once the regular season begins, though Sankey has far more upside.
Mon Aug 4 201411:20Shonn Greene:
Greene (knee) has still yet to return to 100 percent, but Titans running back coach Sylvester Croom was impressed with what he saw from him during Saturday's practice, John Glennon of The Tennessean reports.
Greene is still trying to get back to full health following arthroscopic knee surgery in May. Though he didn't participate in team drills on Sunday as a precautionary measure, Greene appears to be progressing nicely, with Croom noticing improved quickness and change of direction. The bruising back, who averaged just 3.8 yards per carry in his first season with Tennessee, will be battling rookie Bishop Sankey for most of the touches out of the backfield, though Dexter McCluster, Leon Washington and Antonio Andrews are also in the mix.

Greene returned to practice Thursday after sitting out Tuesday's session, Jim Wyatt of the Tennessean reports.
Greene, who is working his way back from an offseason knee issue, was given a scheduled off day from practice Tuesday, but he's back in business Thursday. As the summer rolls along, Greene figures to jostle with rookie Bishop Sankey for slotting atop the Titans' RB depth chart, with Dexter McCluster on hand in a change-of-pace role and Leon Washington and Antonio Andrews also in reserve.
Mon Jul 28 201413:08Titans want Greene to shed 5-10 pounds
The Titans want Shonn Greene to lose 5-10 pounds.
Greene - who's never been anyone's definition of "light" - must have gotten extra bulky as he recovered from his May knee scope. The Nashville Tennessean speculated in May that Greene's roster spot might not be secure. The fact that his coaches are publicly calling out his weight could support that. Greene averaged an anemic 3.83 yards per carry last season. All that being said, all Greene really needs to do to stick around is show better than Jackie Battle in camp. It's not a tall task.

Fri Jul 25 201414:21Shonn Greene cleared for training camp
Shonn Greene has been cleared for training camp following his May knee scope.
Greene has twice undergone arthroscopic surgery on his right knee in less than a year, but he recovered quickly and is poised to vie for carries with rookie Bishop Sankey. As is, the Titans appear to be tentatively planning on a three-man backfield with Greene as the short-yardage and early-down pounder, Sankey as the all-purpose lead back, and Dexter McCluster in the passing-back role.

Mon May 26 201411:07Shonn Greene's roster spot not 100% safe?
The Tennessean believes Shonn Greene's roster spot is not 100 percent safe.
Beat writer Jim Wyatt emphasizes that he's heard no buzz Greene could be cut, but allows the possibility. He's scheduled to earn $2.3 million this season, is coming off a 3.83 YPC season and has undergone two right knee surgeries in the last nine months. Still, the Titans' other "big back" option to complement Bishop Sankey is Jackie Battle. Greene will be given every opportunity to handle the short-yardage work.

Sun May 11 201418:40Shonn Greene undergoes right knee surgery
Shonn Greene recently underwent surgery on his right knee and will miss all of the Titans' post-draft OTAs.
The Nashville Tennessean's Jim Wyatt says Greene should be back for training camp, but he is going on age 29 and this is Greene's second right knee surgery since last September. Greene reportedly "complained of soreness and suffered some knee swelling" during the Titans' recent three-day minicamp. Greene's absence sets up second-round pick Bishop Sankey to grab the Titans' backfield reigns.

Thu Apr 3 201410:35Titans planning to install RB by committee
New coach Ken Whisenhunt plans to install a running back by committee approach this season.
We already know the identity of two members of the committee. Incumbent Shonn Greene will be the early down pounder and newly signed Dexter McCluster is going to play the passing back, Danny Woodhead role. We'd also expect the Titans to use one of their mid-round draft picks on a running back. Whisenhunt already knows Greene is not a true NFL feature back.

Mon Feb 24 201411:42Whiz likes what he's seen from Shonn Greene
New Titans coach Ken Whisenhunt said he likes what he's seen out of Shonn Greene on tape.
With Chris Johnson almost certainly getting his walking papers, Greene is penciled in as the Titans' starter. And Whiz seems fine with that even though the bowling ball shaped ex-Jet has averaged a pedestrian 4.01 YPC over the last four seasons and battled knee issues last year. Ideally, the Titans will add talent to compete with Greene via the draft and/or free agency. But for now, we can't rule out a two-down plus short-yardage role.

Sun Dec 22 201316:39Shonn Greene finds end-zone in Week 16
Shonn Greene rushed 19 times for 91 yards in Sunday's Week 16 win over the Jaguars.
Greene took on a bigger role after being limited to three carries last week. He got an entire drive to himself in the second quarter and was used in all short-yardage situations over Chris Johnson. Greene's biggest play was a 29-yard power run in the second half and he converted on a goal-line carry for his only touchdown from one-yard out. The Titans will finish off the regular season against Houston in Week 17.

Sun Dec 15 201321:17Shonn Greene does little in Week 15 loss
Shonn Greene managed four yards on three carries in Tennessee's Week 15 loss to Arizona.
The entire Titans run game was bottled up against Arizona's stout run defense, leaving scraps for Greene behind starter Chris Johnson. Greene can safely be dropped from fantasy rosters for Week 16.

Sun Nov 24 201319:44Shonn Greene gets just four touches in win
Shonn Greene rushed four times for 15 yards in Sunday's Week 12 win at Oakland.
Greene got two series to himself, but otherwise watched from the sideline as Chris Johnson failed to break tackles. Since returning from his knee injury four games ago, Greene is averaging just 6.2 carries for 21.2 yards with one touchdown.

Fri Nov 15 201300:30Shonn Greene manages 10 yards in loss
Shonn Greene rushed three times for 10 yards in Tennessee's Week 11 loss to the Colts.
Greene wasn't targeted in the passing game. Greene was also held without a goal-line carry, as Chris Johnson cashed in scores of 30 and seven yards. With just 21 carries for 70 yards and a touchdown in three games since returning from his knee injury, Greene is hard to bill as even a desperation FLEX option, especially with CJ2K finally playing some competent football.

Sun Nov 10 201317:20Shonn Greene handles 12 touches in Week 10
Shonn Greene rushed nine times for 22 yards and caught three passes for ten yards in the Titans' Week 10 loss to the Jaguars.
Game flow killed the Titans' running game, as the Jaguars jumped out to an early lead and never relinquished it. This forced Tennessee to throw more often than it wanted. Greene will continue to be a decent weekly bet for goal-line scores, though he's nothing more than a flex option and carries little value in PPR. The Titans will face the Colts in Week 11.

Thu Nov 7 201310:17Jaguars giving up big chunks to RBs
The Jaguars are ranked dead last against the run, giving up 161.8 yards per game.
The Jags have yielded more than 200 yards on the ground to opponents twice in eight games so far. It's going to be a simple gameplan for the Titans this week as they'll pound the rock with Chris Johnson and Shonn Greene. Owners in touchdown-heavy leagues can put Greene on their flex radar.

Sun Nov 3 201316:27Shonn Green goes for 66 yards, touchdown
Shonn Greene rushed nine times for 38 yards and a touchdown and caught a 28-yard pass in the Titans' Week 9 win over St. Louis.
The Titans publicly pledged this week to get Greene 15 carries against the Rams. With Chris Johnson shredding and looking like the CJwhateverK of old, however, Tennessee couldn't take the football out of its best back's hands. Greene did execute on a five-yard touchdown run to open the game, and is going to remain a big part of the Titans' rushing offense as the lesser half of a one-two punch. Look for Greene to be a flex option in Week 10 against Jacksonville's generous defense.

Wed Oct 30 201316:41Munchak: Greene to see 15 carries per game
Coach Mike Munchak said Shonn Greene should be in the "15 carries per game range moving forward if all goes well."
That's quite the increase for Greene, who has rushed just five times for 20 yards in two games played this season. Greene returned to the lineup in Week 7 after undergoing a knee scope. Following the Week 8 bye, he's apparently back to 100 percent. Greene and Chris Johnson have a juicy matchup on deck against the Rams in Week 9, and it sounds as if Greene could lead the backfield in carries. Johnson has failed to eclipse 40 yards rushing in each of his past four outings and is averaging just 2.39 YPC on his last 46 carries. He's seen increased work in the passing game, so it's possible Greene will handle early-down duties while CJ?K takes the passing-down and two-minute reps. It'll be hard to trust either player as more than a flex option until we see how it shakes out Sunday.

Sun Oct 20 201320:08Shonn Greene gets one carry in return
Shonn Greene rushed for two yards on one carry in Week 7 against the 49ers.
It was Greene's (knee scope) first action since Week 2. The Titans were behind on the scoreboard all afternoon, leading to a ton of passes. Tennessee also didn't get to the goal line, scoring from 66 yards out and 26 yards out on its two touchdowns. Therefore, Greene barely saw the field. He's barely on the fantasy radar. The Titans have their bye in Week 8 before taking on the Rams.

Fri Oct 18 201314:10Shonn Greene listed as questionable
Shonn Greene (knee) is listed as questionable for Week 7 against the 49ers.
Greene participated in practice each day this week, and is expected to return to the lineup against San Francisco. He'll probably get 5-8 carries.
