Though Keenum saw some first-team reps at practice Thursday, before giving way to Ryan Fitzpatrick, per Tania Ganguli of ESPN.com, coach Bill O'Brien indicated that Keenum is not in line to see any first-team reps in Saturday's preseason contest against the Falcons, according to James Palmer of Comcast Sportsnet Houston.
While Keenum's first-teams reps Thursday are worth noting, Ryan Fitzpatrick remains the Texans' presumed starter at quarterback, which is reflected by the team's unofficial depth chart, with Keenum seemingly holding the edge over rookie Tom Savage for the team's top backup job.
Thu Jun 26 201409:23Keenum hopes to throw with Andre before camp
Case Keenum said he hopes to throw with Andre Johnson this summer before training camp.
Nobody with the Texans has seen Johnson in a couple months. Keenum plans to give him a call, so both players can stay sharp before camp opens. Neither Ryan Fitzpatrick nor Tom Savage, the other two quarterbacks in Houston, has ever played with Johnson. It remains to be seen whether Johnson plans to show up for training camp. Keenum is competing with Savage for backup duties.

Mon Jun 9 201414:34Texans could enter camp with only three QBs
Speaking Monday, coach Bill O'Brien said the Texans could enter training camp with only three quarterbacks.
That means one of Case Keenum or T.J. Yates could be out, as Ryan Fitzpatrick and fourth-rounder Tom Savage aren't going anywhere. Keenum was mostly ineffective in eight starts last season, but at least has big-play ability. Yates has attempted only 32 regular-season passes since filling in for Matt Schaub in 2011.

Thu Jan 23 201416:23Case Keenum lost major yardage on sacks
Case Keenum lost an average of 10.58 yards on his 19 sacks this season, the highest for any quarterback with at least 200 passing attempts.
That's four yards more than the other 37 quarterbacks who attempted at least 200 passes averaged as a collective. The next highest was Matt McGloin, who lost an average of 8.83 yards on his six sacks. Keenum's staggeringly high number is indicative of a player who didn't know what to do in the face of pressure, and took sacks even after he scrambled to create time. Keenum has undeniable big-play ability, but lacks the overall polish to ever be more than a No. 2.

Fri Dec 27 201315:35Texans leaving QB decision up to game time
The Texans are leaving their Week 17 starting quarterback up to a game-time decision.
Houston is closing out the season against Tennessee. Case Keenum practiced on a limited basis Friday, but is listed as questionable with a thumb injury. "He was a little sore," interim coach Wade Phillips said of Keenum following Friday's practice. "He's going to be a gametime decision. We're going to wait and see how Case is. It could be a situation where he wouldn't be able to start but he'd be the backup." If Keenum doesn't get the nod, Matt Schaub will.

Thu Dec 26 201314:09Case Keenum throws 'normal amount' Thurs.
Case Keenum (thumb) threw the ball a "normal amount" in Thursday's practice, and will start Sunday's finale if healthy.
Barring a setback, Keenum should be under center against the Titans as he auditions to be Houston's No. 2 quarterback next season.

Mon Dec 23 201317:27Case Keenum (thumb) remains day to day
Case Keenum (thumb) remains day to day.
Interim coach Wade Phillips didn't sound terribly optimistic about Keenum's status at Monday's presser, going as far as to hint that T.J. Yates might get the start against Tennessee. We'll likely know Keenum's status by Wednesday, when the Texans return to practice.

Wed Dec 18 201314:03Keenum (thumb) ruled out; Schaub will start
Case Keenum (thumb) has been ruled out for Sunday's Week 16 game against the Broncos.
Matt Schaub will get the start. Keenum sprained his right (throwing) thumb against the Colts last Sunday. He's been absolutely brutal since throwing seven touchdowns to zero interceptions over his first three starts. Keenum has an 0-8 record as a starter and hit "rock bottom" last week. Schaub could very well close out the season before getting the ax from the Texans in the offseason.

Mon Dec 16 201316:43Keenum diagnosed with sprained throwing thumb
Case Keenum has been diagnosed with a sprained right (throwing) thumb, and is questionable for Week 16.
The Texans are awaiting MRI results. "He'll be evaluated, but it's a concern," were the words of interim coach Wade Phillips on Monday. Phillips also said that Keenum hit "rock bottom" in Sunday's ugly loss to the Colts, but implied he'll be under center for Week 16 if he can get medically cleared. The Texans don't need to see anymore from Matt Schaub, and have apparently determined T.J. Yates isn't worthy of another shot.

Mon Dec 16 201310:52Texans will stick with Case Keenum

Sun Dec 15 201316:28Case Keenum manages only 168 yards
Case Keenum completed 18-of-34 passes for 168 yards, zero touchdowns and two interceptions in Houston's 25-3, Week 15 loss to the Colts.
Keenum was simply horrendous, taking four sacks, making late throws and generally appearing completely inept. A rash of drops from his receivers didn't help, but Keenum didn't have the looks of an NFL quarterback. Both of his interceptions were embarrassingly under-thrown, late passes he should never attempted. He was clearly baited into the second by the defense. Keenum will finish out the year under center in the interest of evaluation, but isn't looking like a realistic candidate for Houston's 2014 job. Keenum won't be a recommended QB2 for Week 16 against the Broncos.

Thu Dec 12 201317:55Case Keenum practicing through shoulder issue
Case Keenum is listed on the Week 15 injury report with a left (non-throwing) shoulder injury, but is practicing in full.
Keenum is good to go for Sunday's game against the Colts. Still struggling against the blitz and adjusting to life without play-caller Gary Kubiak, Keenum is a low-end QB2 for Week 15.

Fri Dec 6 201312:33Keenum named Texans' Week 15 starting QB
The Texans announced Case Keenum will start in Week 15 against the Colts.
Coach Gary Kubiak said after Thursday night's loss to the Jaguars that Matt Schaub was an "unbelievable pro" and would be considered for the starting job for the rest of the season. Kubiak was then fired Friday morning. The 2-11 Texans are in full-blown evaluation mode, and it makes no sense to give Schaub anymore starts. His time is likely done in Houston, as well. Keenum has struggled mightily in recent weeks. He won't be a recommended fantasy option.

Mon Nov 25 201316:43Kubiak confirms Keenum to remain starter
Coach Gary Kubiak confirmed Monday the Texans will stick with Case Keenum as their starting quarterback.
Houston hosts the Patriots next. "You want to find him some success," Kubiak said of Keenum. "He's going through a growth process." Keenum can't recognize blitzes, which has made him increasingly easy to defend. He is only on the two-QB-league fantasy radar at this point, and is no longer a viable QB1 streamer.

Mon Nov 18 201316:36Texans going with Case Keenum for Week 12
Case Keenum will be the Texans' Week 12 starter at quarterback.
"I've got total confidence in him," coach Gary Kubiak said with a straight face at Monday's presser. Kubiak then launched into a convoluted explanation for his knee-jerk benching of Keenum against the Raiders, which did not pan out. Matt Schaub was worse in relief, angering No. 1 receiver Andre Johnson in the process. Keenum's play has tailed off since his first two starts, but not to the extent that he doesn't deserve continued time to grow under center. He's shown enough to keep making starts. Johnson owners should hope he keeps the job. Schaub has shown a baffling inability to get him the ball as much as his talent would dictate.

Sun Nov 17 201322:21Kubiak: 'We will see' on Keenum vs. Schaub
Coach Gary Kubiak said "we'll see" when asked who his starting quarterback will be going forward.
Kubiak pulled a stunning move in the third quarter of Sunday's home loss to the Raiders, yanking Case Keenum in favor of Matt Schaub. Per the Houston Chronicle, Kubiak said he made the move because he wanted to increase the offensive tempo and thought Schaub was better equipped to handle in-game audibles to address protection. Clearly, he doesn't have much faith in either of his quarterback options. Whoever starts in Week 12 will have a dream home matchup with the Jaguars.

Sun Nov 17 201315:27Case Keenum benched, Texans turn to Schaub
Case Keenum was benched in the third quarter of Sunday's Week 11 game against the Raiders.
Keenum wasn't playing well, but he wasn't absolutely atrocious. The Texans were down 28-17 at the time of the benching, and Keenum was 13-of-24 for 170 yards with one touchdown and one interception. The offensive line and defense were playing far worse. Still, the Texans strangely chose to go back to pick-six king Matt Schaub as they try to spark a comeback. This Texans team is a rudderless ship right now.

Thu Nov 14 201308:30Case Keenum continues to protect the football
Case Keenum hasn't thrown an interception in 102 pass attempts this season.
The franchise record is 110 consecutive attempts without an interception, set ironically by this year's pick-six king Matt Schaub. The stat proves that Keenum is capable of playing an aggressive, schoolyard kind of style while still protecting the football. He has seven touchdowns, zero picks and a 105.1 passer rating through games this season and will be a solid QB2 against the Raiders Sunday.
