Sat Jan 19 201312:21Scout compares Nick Perry to Gholston
An NFC scout likens Packers OLB Nick Perry to former first-round bust Vernon Gholston.
The Packers' first-round pick, Perry suffered through a rookie campaign marred by injury and inconsistency as he made the switch from end to outside linebacker. "When I saw Nick, I saw more of a Vernon Gholston," the scout said. "(Perry) had a great (Combine), but (he's) not a consistently explosive athlete. ... He never showed that kind of 'juice' off the edge to really threaten. So I kind of worry about that." Perry's rookie year was hardly blockbuster, but his two sacks in six games are already two more than Gholston notched in his entire career. The Pack need Perry to step up in 2013, but it's far too early to declare him a bust.

Sat Sep 22 201211:47Nick Perry dealing with a wrist injury
Packers rookie OLB Nick Perry is playing with a wrist injury.
Perry hurt his wrist in the Packers Week 1 loss to the 49ers, and played with a brace last week. Perry played just 20-of-63 defensive snaps in Week 2. "(Perry) had the protector on (his wrist) all week. We just felt like, let's see how it goes, and if he's having problems extending and punching with that wrist, Erik Walden's back and we want to get Erik in there and play Erik anyway," said defensive coordinator Dom Capers. While the injury isn't considered serious, Perry is uncertain of his availability for Monday night's tilt against the Seahawks.
