Head coach Lovie Smith said Friday that David (hamstring) will be a game-time decision for Sunday's matchup with the Bears.
Fortunately for David owners, the Bucs kick off during the early slate of games Sunday, so you'll know before the early lineup deadline whether the tackling machine will be operational Sunday. If David can't go, Brandon Magee is the most likely candidate to take his place.

After getting limited work Wednesday, David has now missed back-to-back days of practice, an ominous sign for his chances of playing Sunday at Chicago. We'll provide another update when the Buccaneers' release their official injury designations later Friday.
Thu Nov 20 201415:44David (hamstring) didn't practice Thursday
David (hamstring) didn't practice Thursday, Greg Auman of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
David's hamstring was sore enough to hold him out of drills, which is a particularly worrisome development due to his status as the NFL's second-leading tackler. IDP owners should continue to watch the situation to ensure he takes the field Sunday at Chicago.

David (knee) is active for Sunday's matchup against the Falcons.
David was upgraded to a full participant in practice Friday, and fully expected to suit up for this contest. He'll start at outside linebacker, and with double-digit tackles in four of his last five games, David should be a solid IDP play this week.

David (knee) is questionable for Sunday's game against Atlanta.
David practiced all week, including a full practice Friday, so it's generally hard to see him sitting this one out. He's of course an LB1 in all IDP formats if he does suit up.

David (knee) was limited in practice Wednesday, the Buccaneers' official site reports.
David ranks second to Luke Kuechly in tackles -- 97 versus 89 -- but because David has played one fewer game, he leads the league in tackles per game with 11.1. IDP owners should monitor David's activity level as the week progresses in order to ensure his availability.

David recorded four tackles in Saturday's preseason game against the Bills.
Entering the 2014 season healthy, David is among the top players in any IDP league. The do-everything linebacker finished last season with a team-leading 144 tackles (106 solo), six sacks, five interceptions, 18 tackles for loss, two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery. Under first-year head coach Lovie Smith, he should be able to pick up right where he left off.

Bucs WLB Lavonte David posted a career-high 145 total tackles in 2013.
David has only been in the league for two years, but he was fantastic in his sophomore campaign. In addition to his strong tackle numbers, David was an extremely effective pass rusher, notching seven sacks. He also excelled in coverage, posting ten passes defensed and five interceptions. Fri Jan 25 201314:16Lavonte David racked up the tackles for loss
Bucs WLB Lavonte David's 20 tackles for loss in 2012 are the second most on record for a rookie since the NFL began tracking the statistic in 2000.
Old Steeler Kendrell Bell's 23 are the most on record during that timeframe. Among all players in 2012 -- not just rookies -- David's 20 tackles for a loss ranked third in the NFL behind only Defensive POY candidates J.J. Watt (39) and Von Miller (28). David has a strong case for Defensive Rookie of the Year honors.

Mon Oct 1 201217:33Lavonte David racks up 14 tackles in Week 4
Bucs rookie WLB Lavonte David racked up 14 tackles (12 solo) in Week 4 against the Redskins and has 33 through four weeks.
Mike 'backer Mason Foster leads the team with 36 tackles, but the rookie is closing in. David threw his man for a loss on three of the 14 stops against Washington. While David's big-play production hasn't quite caught up to his tackle numbers, he's been an every-down linebacker and should start forcing more fumbles and breaking up more passes as the season progresses. In IDP leagues, David is a strong LB3 with LB2 upside.

Fri Aug 24 201213:11Bucs insert David into their nickel package
The Buccaneers have inserted rookie WLB Lavonte David into their nickel package.
Already holding a starting job, David will be an every-down player in Greg Schiano's defense. David will square off with Jimmy Graham, Tony Gonzalez, and Greg Olsen in the NFC South, so his coverage skills will be tested. It's still great news for his IDP value. We like his chances of leading the Bucs in tackles.

SAM 'backer Jamal Merrell was eighth.
