The ankle injury that knocked Patriots RE Chandler Jones out of Sunday's game did not require a walking boot.
Jones was limping out of the locker room, but it's a good sign that the medical staff didn't deem the injury serious enough to warrant a boot. The Patriots' next practice report will come out on Wednesday.

Patriots RE Chandler Jones (ankle), LG Logan Mankins (ankle), and MLB Brandon Spikes (knee) are all active for Week 14 on Monday night versus the Texans.
In true Patriot form, all three players were listed as questionable. Jones is returning after missing two games with the ankle issue. Mankins and Spikes were the only two that were truly in question. New England declared OLs Markus Zusevics and Nick McDonald, TE Rob Gronkowski, DLs Ron Brace and Jake Bequette, DB Derrick Martin, and RB James Develin inactive. Gronk is likely still two weeks away from returning.

Patriots RE Chandler Jones (ankle) says he's "ready to play against the Texans" this week on Monday Night Football.
Jones has missed the last two games with the ankle injury, but he participated in all four practice sessions this week leading up to the biggest game of the NFL season to date. Jones should return to the staring lineup and will see a lot of Texans LT Duane Brown. Trevor Scott will return to a rotational back-up role.

According to the Boston Herald, there is now "a feeling that each player could return" for Monday night's mammoth AFC tilt with the Texans. The game has major repercussions for the two bye-week seeds in the playoffs.

New England has been forced to "scheme" pressure without its top pass rusher Jones, leaving the team a bit more vulnerable in the back end. Unfortunately, the Dolphins lack an explosive passing game capable of taking advantage. The Patriots will also be without LG Logan Mankins (ankle) against Miami.

Patriots RE Chandler Jones (ankle) has been ruled out for Thursday night's game against the Jets.
Jones was injured early on in Sunday's rout over the Colts. The first-round pick has generated six sacks and three forced fumbles as a rookie and ranks as Pro Football Focus' No. 10 4-3 defensive end in all of football. Trevor Scott will likely draw the start in Jones' place.

Patriots DE Chandler Jones has been named NFL's defensive rookie of the month for September.
Chalk one up for the NFL Network crew of Mike Mayock and Michael Lombardi, both of whom anointed Jones the best defensive player leading up to this year's draft. The Pats coaching staff credits Jones with 19 total tackles (7 solo), three sacks, five quarterbacks hits and two forced fumbles through four games. Pro Football Focus ranks Jones fifth among 4-3 ends.

Patriots first-round RE Chandler Jones played on 58-of-65 snaps in Sunday's opener.
Jones had three tackles, one sack and one forced fumble that resulted in a touchdown for fellow rookie Dont'a Hightower. He's on the IDP radar as an every-down, playmaking lineman. Jones will have plenty of chances to pin his ears back as the Patriots figure to be protecting a lead often this season.

Per beat writer Mike Reiss, Jones has also "made an impression on his teammates off the field as a humble rookie who is willing to carry veterans' shoulder pads on his way off the field." Jones is firmly on the IDP radar as a rookie pass-rusher.

No. 21 overall pick Chandler Jones had five quarterback pressures in 14 dropbacks in Thursday's preseason opener.
It was the quite the debut for Jones. Operating as the starting right defensive end, he added two stuffed runs while going against solid Saints left tackle Jermon Bushrod. Jones is shaping up as an IDP sleeper.

Rookies DE Chandler Jones, LB Dont'a Hightower, and S Tavon Wilson have yet to miss an offseason session and are in position to become "immediate" contributors on defense.
The quick progression of the rookie trio is key for last season's 31st-ranked defense. Jones is penciled in as the team's starting right end, while Hightower is the favorite to start at strong-side linebacker. Wilson has a shot at No. 3 duties behind Steve Gregory and Patrick Chung.

Greg Bedard of the Boston Globe expects first-round pick Chandler Jones to open the season as the Patriots' starting right end.
Jones has had an exceptional start to training camp, drawing raves from several Boston media outlets. "Jones has been much stronger at the point of attack than I think even the Patriots anticipated," observed Bedard. "... At this point, he's a starter. Not sure I see it changing." The Pats may still re-sign free agent Andre Carter at some point, but he'd only be a rotational player.

No. 21 overall pick Chandler Jones has been getting starter's reps at right defensive end this week.
As expected, the Patriots are throwing Jones right into the fire as their "elephant" rusher. Andre Carter, now a free agent, posted 52 tackles and 10 sacks in that role last season. There's some sleeper value in Jones for IDPers.
