Richardson is thus slated to suit up Sunday after not practicing all week. It remains to be seen how much work he will see though, with Stephen Holder of the Indianapolis Star relaying that fellow RB Ahmad Bradshaw is starting the contest for the Colts. Meanwhile, Dan Herron is on hand to work in a complementary role as well.

Maybe the Colts will surprise us when the official injury designations are released, but a week of no practice does not bode well for Richardson's chances of playing Sunday against the Steelers. Ahmad Bradshaw stands to benefit the most from a Richardson absence.

While Richardson previously downplayed his hamstring issue, his absence at Wednesday's practice solidifies the notion that the running back's Week 8 availability will need to be tracked as Sunday's game against the Steelers approaches. Richardson has downplayed his hamstring issue thus far, but until an MRI confirms the running back's optimism, his status will be worth monitoring in advance of Sunday's game against the Steelers.

Richardson downplayed the hamstring issue that he sustained in the fourth quarter of Sunday's 27-0 win over the Bengals, ESPN.com reports. "Little tweak, nothing big," Richardson noted. "I was able to still run and move. Coach [Chuck Pagano] told me there's no reason to back out there."

Prior to tweaking his hamstring Sunday, Richardson had carried 14 times for 77 yards and caught four passes for 41 yards. While it's possible that he could be limited some at practice this week, it would appear as though Richardson will be able to continue to work in tandem with fellow RB Ahmad Bradshaw this coming Sunday against the Steelers.

Richardson left Sunday's game against the Bengals with a hamstring injury and will not return, Kevin Bowen of the Colts' official site reports.

The Colts were up 24-0 in the fourth quarter when Richardson was declared out, so this could just be a precautionary move. Richardson ran very well in this game, racking up 77 yards on just 14 carries (5.5 yards per carry) and adding four catches for 41 yards. However, he still split the workload with Ahmad Bradshaw (10 carries), and one game is not enough for us to forget his season-long struggles. We'll monitor this hamstring injury leading up to next Sunday's game at Pittsburgh.

Richardson had 17 carries for 41 yards and a touchdown in Thursday's 33-28 win over the Texans.

Richardson scored the game's first touchdown from five yards out, but he wasn't active in the passing game, and didn't do much with his other carries. Meanwhile, Ahmad Bradshaw gained just 34 yards on 11 carries, but also added three receptions for 25 yards and a touchdown. Bradshaw surprisingly has five touchdowns through the air and none on the ground, while both of Richardson's scores have come from rushes.

Richardson rushed nine times for 37 yards and caught four passes for 10 yards during Sunday's win over the Ravens.

Richardson's 13 total touches Sunday were his fewest since Week 1, while his 47 all-purpose yards marked a season-low. Conversely, his teammate Ahmad Bradshaw received a season-high 19 touches. Through five games, Richardson has cleared the 60 rushing yards plateau just once and with only one touchdown on the season as well, the former first round pick's fantasy stock remains fairly underwhelming.

Richardson had 20 carries for 47 rushing yards and a touchdown, while also catching four passes on five targets for 52 receiving yards Sunday against the Titans.

Richardson finished with more than double (20 to nine) the carries of backup Ahmad Bradshaw, though the latter scored a touchdown of his own through the air. Richardson continues to get a fair chunk of the carries, and if he can continue to contribute in the passing game, he may finally shed his fantasy-bust label.

Richardson had 14 carries for 57 rushing yards and three catches on four targets for 23 receiving yards Sunday against the Jaguars.

Richardson led the team in carries Sunday, though Ahmad Bradshaw finished with eight more yards on five fewer carries, while also catching a touchdown pass for the third time in the last two games. The Colts seem comfortable giving both backs an equal share of touches, which certainly puts a ceiling on their potential fantasy values on a weekly basis. Up next in Week 4 is a decent matchup against a Titans defense that is much better against the pass than the run this season.

Richardson had 21 carries for 79 yards and one reception for 16 yards on one target in Monday's 30-27 loss to the Eagles.

Richardson ran hard and even broke/avoided a few tackles, but he also lost a crucial third-quarter fumble, and was again outplayed by Ahmad Bradshaw, who finished with a 13-70-0 rushing line and 5-26-2 receiving line. This, after coach Chuck Pagano said during the week that the two running backs would split snaps based on game flow. The snap split did seem to be fairly even, but the Colts were leading for most of the game, and Bradshaw gets more work on passing downs. Last week, when the Colts trailed for nearly the entire game, Bradshaw got 44 snaps to Richardson's 29. If he's only getting about half the snaps and touches even when the Colts go run-heavy, Richardson may have some barren fantasy days ahead. As far as 21-carry performances go, this one wasn't very encouraging.

Richardson and Ahmad Bradshaw will split running back duties based on game flow, according to head coach Chuck Pagano. "From game to game, it'll be different depending on the score and how we're using different personnel groups," he told the Indianapolis Star reports.

Pagano and the Colts talked about Richardson as a three-down and primary back all offseason, but the first game saw Richardson play just 29 snaps while Bradshaw played 44 snaps. Bradshaw was said to have a larger role in the two-minute offense and in the passing game, so the balance could shift if the Colts are are not playing from behind like in last week's loss. Still, Richardson's usage in week one and Pagano's retreat from calling Richardson the primary running back don't bode well for his workload going forward.

Richardson had 20 yards on six carries and 31 yards on three receptions (four targets) in Sunday's 31-24 loss to the Broncos.

The Colts all but abandoned the running game while trying to work their way back from a 24-0 deficit. Richardson ran hard on the few carries he got, but he still looks indecisive -- or sometimes indiscriminately decisive -- even when catching passes in the open field. Ahmad Bradshaw played the better game, catching five passes for 70 yards on six targets, with another 15 yards on three carries. It will be interesting to check the official snap count, as the gap between Richardson and Bradshaw didn't seem that big, though the game circumstances quite obviously worked in Bradshaw's favor in that regard. Richardson still got the start and the early-down work in the first half, while slightly out-touching Bradshaw nine to eight. Alhough Richardson needs to play well to maintain his role, it won't be surprising if he gets a larger share of the touches in Week 2 against the Eagles.

Richardson had 17 yards on six carries in Saturday's preseason game against the Saints. He was not targeted as a receiver.

Richardson's first two carries went for a combined 13 yards, but he didn't do much the rest of the game. Ahmad Bradshaw also got a bit of work with the first-team offense, finishing with two yards on three carries and 11 yards on one reception. Though the Colts kept their first-team offense in through the beginning of the third quarter, there weren't many touches to go around in a game that saw the Saints dominate possession in the first half. Despite his continued struggles, Richardson seems to be secure in his starting role, and may even have a decent leash to work with. However, if Bradshaw looks like the better player once the games count, the Colts may have to re-evaluate.

Richardson gained 21 yards on nine carries and four yards on one reception in Saturday's preseason game against the GIants.

A recent report indicated that Richardson has looked good in training camp, but it's just been more of the same through two preseason games. While part of the blame lies with the offensive line, Richardson still needs to make more happen on his own. Despite his continued struggles, Richardson appears safe in his role as the starter. Ahmad Bradshaw seems to be on track to play before the end of the preseason, but he didn't suit up for Saturday's game.

Richardson has made a strong impression in training camp by showing more decisiveness than he did last season, the Indianapolis Star reports.

This report is largely just the opinion of one beat writer, but generally the Colts have been happy with Richardson's performance in practice. However, we'll need to see how that translates into games. With Vick Ballard out for the season with a knee injury and Ahmad Bradshaw returning from neck surgery, the Colts need Richardson to emerge as a workhorse back and it looks like he'll initially get a chance to show he can be a big part of the offense.
