Mon Oct 21 201302:23Fleener bounces back with 38 yards, TD
Coby Fleener caught five passes for 38 yards and a touchdown in Week 7 against Denver.
Fleener was coming off back-to-back weeks of being held under 20 yards, so it was a much needed bounce back effort. He did all of his damage in the Colts final drive before halftime and was a non-factor in the second half. Fleener will still struggle with week-to-week consistency, but will be a borderline TE1 option when the Colts come out of their bye in Week 9 against the Texans.

Sun Oct 6 201316:41Fleener goes for 15 yards on 2 receptions
Coby Fleener was held to 15 yards on two catches in the Colts' Week 5 win over the Seahawks.
One week after appearing to emerge as Andrew Luck's No. 2 passing-game option behind Reggie Wayne, Fleener took a clear backseat. He's been very inconsistent in the Colts' run-based offense. Consider Fleener a boom-or-bust TE1 option against the Chargers' weak defense next Monday night.

Sun Sep 22 201320:09Coby Fleener targeted only twice in win
Coby Fleener caught two passes for 13 yards in Indianapolis' Week 3 win over the 49ers.
Seemingly in line for a bigger role after the Colts lost Dwayne Allen for the season, Fleener instead drew only two targets. It was a product of Indy's game plan, which called for running the ball down San Francisco's throat. Fleener is not yet an asset as a run blocker, which could throw a wrench into his quest for TE1 value. The Colts have made it clear they're going to run early and often this season.

Wed Sep 18 201312:34Pagano has praise for Coby Fleener
Coach Chuck Pagano singled out Coby Fleener for his Week 2 performance.
"He played an excellent football game, not only in the pass game but also in the run game," Pagano said. Fleener finished with four catches for 68 yards and a touchdown on eight targets, playing on 83.5 percent of the snaps. Now that Dwayne Allen (hip) is done for the year, Fleener will continue to take on a big role in the passing game. The move tight end is on the back-end TE1 radar.

Sun Sep 15 201317:27Coby Fleener goes for 69 yards, touchdown
Coby Fleener caught four balls for 69 yards and a touchdown in the Colts' Week 2 loss to the Dolphins.
He had another touchdown called back on a penalty away from the play. Fleener's role was noticeably bigger this week with Dwayne Allen (hip) among Indy's inactives. With Allen's injury not seeming serious, Fleener's fantasy trustworthiness will be dicey entering a Week 3 date with San Francisco.

Sun Sep 8 201316:39Fleener held to one catch for 7 yards
Coby Fleener was limited to one catch for seven yards in the Colts' Week 1 win over the Raiders.
He was targeted just once among Andrew Luck's 23 pass attempts. Fleener has intriguing speed and ability, but needs to be treated as a TE2 only until he proves he deserves to be more than that. Perhaps Fleener's value could rise if Dwayne Allen (hip) misses time. The extent of Allen's injury is not known.

Wed Sep 4 201312:18Coby Fleener will play Sunday
Coach Chuck Pagano confirmed Coby Fleener (knee) will play in Sunday's opener against the Raiders.
Fleener's mild knee sprain is water under the bridge. He lost some luster due to poor play and injuries in August, but he's still an explosive pass-catcher that can push the seam. Fleener is an ideal TE2 with upside.

Mon Sep 2 201311:59Coby Fleener resumes practicing Monday
Coby Fleener (knee) resumed practicing Monday.
Fleener's mild knee sprain only caused him to miss a few days. Despite a nightmarish August that saw him struggle to haul in passes in traffic and battle injuries, he's on the TE2 radar in Week 1. Andrew Luck is going to light up the Raiders.

Mon Aug 19 201314:01MRI comes back negative on Coby Fleener
A Monday MRI on Coby Fleener's knee came back negative.
Fleener is expected to only miss "a few days" with a mild sprain. Although the Colts have made every effort to heavily involve Fleener in their offense, he's struggled mightily through two preseason games. With Dwayne Allen (foot) returning soon, we wouldn't be surprised if Fleener's role were scaled back.

Mon Aug 19 201308:58Fleener (knee) undergoing MRI on Monday
Coby Fleener (sprained knee) will undergo a precautionary MRI on Monday.
Coach Chuck Pagano believes the injury "doesn't look to be too serious," but the Colts won't know the full extent of Fleener's "mild knee sprain" without further testing. Regardless of what his MRI turns up, Fleener is highly questionable for Saturday's regular season dress rehearsal against the Browns.

Sun Aug 18 201321:03Fleener's struggles continue; now banged up
Coby Fleener exited Sunday night's preseason game with a "mild knee sprain," the Colts announced.
Injury to insult. For the second straight preseason game, Fleener struggled mightily before the departure, this time failing to reel in any passes, dropping one over the middle, and not even seeing a Matt Hasselbeck throw intended for him down the seam. In the preseason opener, Fleener lost a fumble and dropped a touchdown. He seems to get jittery and lose his focus on traffic, shying from contact. Fleener can't be trusted as a back-end TE1 pick.

Thu Aug 15 201311:25Coby Fleener expected to play Sunday
Coby Fleener (concussion) is expected to play in Sunday's preseason game against the Giants.
Although it's Fleener's second concussion in as many seasons, he's gained quick clearance. This one was apparently extremely mild. Fleener will practice once again Thursday and is ticketed for a big role in the Pep Hamilton's offense. They're going to use a ton of "12" formations (one back, two tight ends).

Wed Aug 14 201313:59Coby Fleener already back at Colts practice
Coby Fleener (concussion) returned to Colts practice Wednesday.
Fleener suffered the injury just three days ago, so it's astounding he's already back. The quick return suggests he may not have been concussed in the first place. With Dwayne Allen's (foot) Week 1 status uncertain, Fleener is sitting at No. 18 in Rotoworld's tight end rankings.

Tue Aug 13 201317:04Indy's Coby Fleener diagnosed with concussion
Coby Fleener has been diagnosed with a concussion.
It's Fleener's second concussion in as many NFL seasons, though last year's didn't cost him a game, as he suffered it heading into Indy's bye week. It's obviously unideal news for a team that's already missing Dwayne Allen (foot), but Fleener should be ready for the Colts' third preseason game. Were the injury to linger and the Colts found themselves without both Fleener and Allen for Week 1, they'd be left with rookie Justice Cunningham and waiver-wire type Dominique Jones at tight end.

Sun Aug 11 201314:37Coby Fleener goes for 37 yards Sunday
Coby Fleener caught two passes for 37 yards in the Colts' preseason opener against the Bills.
With Dwayne Allen nursing a foot injury, Fleener was Indy's go-to tight end on seam patterns and over the middle. He looked very athletic in an obviously increased role. Fleener could've played better -- he lost a fumble and dropped a would-be touchdown in the back of the end zone -- but continues to offer breakout potential as a TE2 pick with mid-range TE1 fantasy upside.

Wed Aug 7 201318:15Colts GM: Fleener poised for second-year leap
Colts GM Ryan Grigson pinpointed TE Coby Fleener as the team's second-year player poised for the biggest leap.
"He's a guy that you knew had speed, had size being 6-foot-6 and running 4.51," said Grigson. "You know he could be a tough mismatch downfield because he could play above the rim." Grigson said Fleener is making "Wow" plays in camp, and "it's really come across like he's ready to have a great year." While Dwayne Allen and Reggie Wayne handle short to intermediate pass-catching duties, Grigson says the Colts "want (Fleener) to be a threat downfield."

Wed Jul 31 201311:40Pep Hamilton raves about Coby Fleener
OC Pep Hamilton said Coby Fleener is "making plays that big-time NFL players tend to make."
Hamilton added that Fleener is having his most productive camp, dating back to their time together at Stanford. "He's a lot more explosive and confident right now," Hamilton said. The Colts are expected to run a ton of two-tight end formations this season, highlighting Fleener in a flex role and Dwayne Allen playing on the line. Both players have TE2 appeal.

Sun Jun 16 201310:18Colts to use Fleener more as vertical threat
The National Football Post's Dan Pompei reports the Colts plan to use second-year TE Coby Fleener more as a vertical threat this season.
Fleener averaged just 10.8 YPR on 26 catches as a rookie. Over his final two years at Stanford, he averaged 17.6 YPR on 62 grabs under OC Pep Hamilton. Fleener and fellow second-year TE Dwayne Allen are both going to see the field a ton, which is going to put a cap on both of their potential fantasy outputs. We like Fleener a bit more than Allen, but he's nothing more than a mid-to-low TE2.
