Though coach Marvin Lewis hinted at optimism that Bernard (hip/clavicle) would be able to practice this week, Coley Harvey of ESPN.com relays that Lewis added a "we'll see" on that front.
Previous reports suggested that Bernard is a candidate to return to action this week, but for now such an outcome presumes his ability to practice in the coming days without any setbacks. More on Bernard's status no later than Wednesday, when the Bengals' first practice participation/injury report of the week is released.

The Bengals' official site suggests that Bernard (hip/clavicle) is a candidate to return to action this coming Sunday against the Texans.
Such an outcome would be supported by the running back returning to practice this week, though we suspect that given how well fellow RB Jeremy Hill has responded when seeing a heavy workload of late, Bernard could well be eased back into the Bengals' backfield mix in some form of time-share upon his potential return.

Coley Harvey of ESPN.com relays that Bernard (hip/clavicle, inactive) was moving and cutting well as he got some work in prior to Sunday's game against the Saints.
While Bernard won't play this Sunday, leading to another start at running back for Jeremy Hill, he does seem to be progressing, based on the report, which bodes well for his chances of returning to practice next week, with an eye toward a possible Week 12 return.
Fri Nov 14 201413:53Bernard (hip/clavicle) ruled of for Sunday's game against Saints
Bernard (hip/clavicle) has been ruled of for Sunday's game against the Saints, Coley Harvey of ESPN.com reports.
Given that Bernard did not practice all week, the designation is no surprise, with the running back's continued absence setting the stage for Jeremy Hill to head the Bengals' Week 11 backfield.
Fri Nov 14 201411:08Giovani Bernard: (Hip) Sits Out Practice Friday
Bernard (hip/clavicle) did not practice Friday, Coley Harvey of ESPN.com reports.
Bernard did not practice at all this week, so it's likely he will sit out Sunday as expected. The Bengals will provide an update on Bernard's status when they release Friday's injury report.
Thu Nov 13 201413:35Bernard (hip/clavicle) did not practice Thursday
Bernard (hip/clavicle) did not practice Thursday, ESPN's Coley Harvey reports.
While Bernard hasn't been officially ruled out for Sunday's game against the Saints, both Harvey and NFL.com suggest that the running back is likely to miss the contest. If that's the case, Jeremy Hill would be in line to head the Bengals' Week 11 backfield.

The Bengals expect to be without Bernard (hip/clavicle) Sunday against the Saints, according to NFL.com.
Assuming Bernard sits this weekend, the report suggests that the hope is that he will return to action in Week 12 against the Texans. Barring an upturn in Bernard's prospects, it looks like Jeremy Hill is on track to head the Bengals' backfield on Sunday.
Wed Nov 12 201412:19Bernard (hip/clavicle) won't practice Wednesday
Bernard (hip/clavicle) won't practice Wednesday, according to Geoff Hobson of Bengals.com.
While things could look up for Bernard as the week progresses, his absence from practice Wednesday is not a positive indicator with regard to his status for Sunday's game against the Saints. If Bernard is unable to return to action this weekend, Jeremy Hill would once again be on track to see an expanded role in the Bengals' backfield in Week 11.

Bernard (hip/clavicle) will not play Thursday against the Browns according to head coach Marvin Lewis, NFL.com reports.
Bernard had been listed as doubtful heading into the contest, and wasn't really expected to play after missing another full week of practice. In his stead, Jeremy Hill will receive his second straight start at running back, and expects to see a similar workload to that of his 154-yard day last Sunday against the Jaguars. Bernard will look to return to the practice field in the coming week in an effort to get back on the field for Week 11's matchup against the Saints.

Bernard (hip/clavicle) is listed as doubtful for Thursday's game against the Browns, the Bengals' official site reports.
With Bernard thus unlikely to be available Thursday, Jeremy Hill is in line to head the Bengals' Week 10 rushing attack, with Cedric Peerman and Rex Burkhead on track to work in complementary roles in the team's backfield.
Tue Nov 4 201411:05Bernard (hip) not present for Tuesday's practice
Bernard (hip) is not present for Tuesday's practice, Cincinnati.com reports.
Bernard missed last weekend's game due to a hip injury, which very well could prevent him from being ready for this Thursday's game against the Browns. While Bernard's status will have to be monitored leading up to the early kickoff, owners of Jeremy Hill should stand to profit from Bernard's possible absence.
Mon Nov 3 201418:52Bernard (hip/clavicle) did not practice Monday
Bernard (hip/clavicle) did not practice Monday, Richard Skinner of the Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
Bernard, who missed Sunday's win over the Jaguars, is still questionable for Thursday's matchup with the Browns. Obviously, his absence from Monday's practice is not an encouraging sign, though it doesn't necessarily hold any bearing on his status for Week 10. Continue to monitor Bernard's status closely in advance of Thursday's divisional showdown.

Bernard (hip/clavicle) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Jaguars, according to Geoff Hobson of Bengals.com.
Per ESPN.com, coach Marvin Lewis indicated that it's too early to get a read on Bernard's status for this coming Thursday's game against the Browns, but with regard to the running back sitting this weekend, Lewis noted, "the rest is going to be good for him." With Bernard ruled out, Jeremy Hill is in line to head the Bengals' Week 9 rushing attack, with Cedric Peerman and Rex Burkhead available to work in complementary roles on Sunday.
Fri Oct 31 201411:11Giovani Bernard: (Hip) Sits Out For Third Straight Day
Bernard (hip) was not spotted at Friday's practice, Paul Dehner Jr. of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
Bernard did not practice at all this week, so his chances of playing in Sunday's game against the Jaguars appear slim. Expect the Bengals to provide an update on Bernard's status when they release their final injury report of the week Friday afternoon.
Thu Oct 30 201413:17Bernard (hip/clavicle) did not practice Thursday
Bernard (hip/clavicle) did not practice Thursday, ESPN's Coley Harvey reports.
With two straight missed practice sessions, Geoff Hobson of bengals.com suggests that Bernard is looking iffy for Sunday's game against the Jaguars, though if the running back returns to the field, in any capacity Friday, things could look up on that front. If Bernard is forced to sit, or limited at all this weekend, Jeremy Hill would be in line to lead the Bengals' Week 9 rushing attack, with Cedric Peerman and Rex Burkhead candidates to work in a complementary roles in such a scenario.
Wed Oct 29 201414:24Bernard (hip) did not practice Wednesday
Bernard (hip) did not practice Wednesday, the Bengals' official site reports.
Bernard's status is thus worth tracking closely as the week progresses, with Jeremy Hill a candidate for added touches Sunday against the Jaguars if Bernard is forced to sit, or limited at all this weekend.

The hip issue that forced Bernard out of Sunday's win over the Ravens is not believed to be a significant injury, the Bengals' official site reports.
That's a notion echoed by NFL.com's Ian Rapoport, though we'll track the running back's status in advance of this coming Sunday's game against the Jaguars, nonetheless. Prior to leaving Week 8's game, Bernard recorded 16 carries for 45 yards with a touchdown and two catches for two yards.

Bernard did not return to Sunday's game against the Ravens after leaving with a right hip injury. He finished with 16 carries for 45 yards and a touchdown.
The Bengals have not provided any update on Bernard, though this is now three straight games in which he has suffered a different injury. He's pretty banged-up right now, so you can probably expect at least some missed practice time leading up to next week's game against Jacksonville. We'll have more information about this hip injury as it becomes available.
Sun Oct 26 201415:40Bernard left Sunday's matchup with Ravens with right hip problem
Bernard, who came into the game nursing a rib injury, left Sunday's matchup with the Ravens with a right hip problem, the Bengals' official site reports. His return is questionable.
Bernard couldn't find much running room against the Ravens, mustering just 45 yards on 16 carries (2.8 yards per carry). Jeremy Hill will lead the rushing attack the rest of the way if Bernard is unable to return.

Bernard (ribs) is listed as active for Sunday's game against the Ravens.
Against a Ravens' defense that has allowed an average of 87.4 rushing yards to date, Bernard will look to bounce back from a seven-carry, 17-yard effort in Week 7's 27-0 loss to the Colts. Prior to last week's dud, Bernard had seen at least 13 carries in each of his first five contests.
