Steelers first-round pick Jarvis Jones has been released from the hospital after tests on his chest came back negative. | ||||||
The Steelers can breathe a sigh of relief. The 17th overall pick in April's draft, Jones suffered the injury in Saturday night's preseason game following an interception. He should be all systems go for the season opener. | ||||||

Jones intercepted a pass in the fourth quarter of Saturday night's preseason game against the Chiefs, and he left the game shortly after. It's not believed to be a long-term injury, rather just a scare. Jones is competing with Jason Worilds for the starting job opposite LaMarr Woodley. He's going to see plenty of action this season even if he isn't considered a "starter." | ||||||

Georgia's defensive coordinator, Todd Grantham, has NFL roots and ran a 3-4 defense with the Bulldogs. Even so, Jones acknowledges there "may be more to do here, and it may be more complex," but believes his time with Grantham gives him an "advantage with the Steelers." Jones played both left and right outside linebacker at Georgia, but will only be asked to play on the right side for the Steelers.
