Sun Aug 25 201309:31Steelers rookie OLB Jones taken to hospital
Steelers first-round OLB Jarvis Jones was taken to the hospital to have a chest injury examined Saturday night.
Jones intercepted a pass in the fourth quarter of Saturday night's preseason game against the Chiefs, and he left the game shortly after. It's not believed to be a long-term injury, rather just a scare. Jones is competing with Jason Worilds for the starting job opposite LaMarr Woodley. He's going to see plenty of action this season even if he isn't considered a "starter."

Tue Jul 9 201308:44OLB Jones foresees smooth transition to NFL
Steelers OLB Jarvis Jones believes his experience in a 3-4 defense will make his NFL transition easier than a typical rookie.
Georgia's defensive coordinator, Todd Grantham, has NFL roots and ran a 3-4 defense with the Bulldogs. Even so, Jones acknowledges there "may be more to do here, and it may be more complex," but believes his time with Grantham gives him an "advantage with the Steelers." Jones played both left and right outside linebacker at Georgia, but will only be asked to play on the right side for the Steelers. He has a chance to be the first rookie starter on defense since 2001.

Sun Jun 30 201323:41Jarvis Jones could be rookie starter
The Steelers have "privately acknowledged" that first-round pick Jarvis Jones could be their first rookie defender to start since 2001.
The last rookies to start on Pittsburgh's defense were Kendrell Bell and Casey Hampton over a decade ago. The National Football Post's Len Pasquarelli writes there's a "decent chance" Jones will beat out Jason Worilds for the starting job opposite LaMarr Woodley. Expect the loser to still rotate into games often.

Fri Jun 14 201318:52Steelers don't start rookies on defense
No rookie has started on the Steelers' defense since 2001.
Kendrell Bell and Casey Hampton both started as rookies on Pittsburgh's 2001 defense. Jarvis Jones is trying to end the 11-year drought by beating out Jason Worilds for James Harrison's old right outside linebacker role. "He's showing us things," LBs coach Keith Butler said of Jones. "And if he keeps showing those things he's going to be a big part of (the defense), hopefully."
