Crowell (hip) is active for Sunday's game against the Bengals.
Crowell is good to go, though he will continue to share touches with Terrance West out of the Browns' backfield.

Crowell (hip) carried the ball 14 times for 54 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's loss to the Colts.
Crowell was originally penciled in as the Browns' starter for the afternoon contest, but it was Terrance West who took the field first, and ended up receiving one more carry. It was Crowell who found the endzone, however, and his yardage total matched West's exactly. The two backs seemed to rotate drives, a pattern than coach Mike Pettine has used frequently this season, and that fantasy owners can expect to see moving forward. Crowell may have the No. 1 spot on the depth chart, but the timeshare situation will likely continue over the final three games of the season.

Crowell (hip) is active for Sunday's matchup with the Colts.
A hip injury landed Crowell on this week's injury report, but he was able to log enough practice time to avoid an inactive status for Week 14's contest against Indianapolis. He's been listed as the Browns' starter for the past several weeks, and will presumably work ahead of Terrance West and Shaun Draughn in the backfield. He'll work against a Colts defense that has allowed 4.5 yards per carry to opposing backs and surrendered 12 touchdowns on the ground this season.
Sun Dec 7 201408:45Crowell (hip) expected to play Sunday against Colts
Crowell (hip) is expected to play Sunday against the Colts, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.
Crowell is officially listed as questionable for the game, and while Rapoport notes that he'll test the hip out in pregame warmups, there is every indication that he'll play. However, he could be part of a timeshare with Terrance West if the later has the hot hand, which would obviously limit Crowell's fantasy upside.

According to Nate Ulrich of the Akron Beacon Journal, Crowell (hip) will be listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Colts.
While Crowell has downplayed his hip issue, the questionable designation makes his Week 14 status worth tracking. Fortunately for those who are inclined to roll with Crowell in their lineups this week, the Browns kick off at 1:00 ET on Sunday.

Crowell (hip) returned to a limited practice Thursday, Nate Ulrich of the Akron Beacon Journal reports.
More importantly, Crowell downplayed his injury, and at this stage is confident that he will be available this weekend against the Colts. "I'll be able to go (Sunday). It was nothing major," Crowell noted Thursday. Such a notion would of course be supported by an official probable designation in advance of the contest.

Crowell (hip) returned to practice Thursday, Nate Ulrich of the Akron Beacon Journal reports.
We'll have to see if Crowell is listed as a full or limited participant by the Browns, but his return to the field Thursday would appear to put the running back on track to suit of Sunday against the Colts.

Coach Mike Pettine thinks that Crowell (hip) will practice Thursday, Nate Ulrich of the Akron Beacon Journal reports.
We'll circle back on Crowell's status once his level of practice participation is clarified, but assuming he returns to work Thursday, as expected, the running back would presumably be on track to suit up Sunday against the Colts.

Crowell had 17 carries for 29 rushing yards and caught one pass on two targets for 15 receiving yards during Sunday's 26-10 win over the Bills.
Backup Terrance West actually led the Browns with 32 rushing yards (on seven carries), but he lost a fumble in the third quarter that was returned for a touchdown, opening up more touches for Crowell. West has fumbled in back-to-back games, though Sunday's was the only one he lost, but with his ball security now in question, Crowell could get a bigger piece of the workload in Week 14 against the Colts, who are tied for third in the league in most rushing touchdowns allowed this season.

Crowell is listed as the starting running back in the Browns' official lineup, Tony Grossi of ESPN Cleveland reports.
Crowell has 26 rushing attempts over the past two weeks compared to fellow rookie Terrance West's 19, so it appears we may finally be seeing some consistency in the Cleveland backfield. It may be wise to expect another timeshare, however, as coach Mike Pettine has tended to lean toward the hot hand with respect to the rushing attack. West actually carried the ball two more times than Crowell in Week 12, but Crowell was the more productive option, gaining 26 more yards and finding the endzone twice.

Crowell had 12 carries for 88 yards and two touchdowns in Sunday's 26-24 win over the Falcons.
Crowell got the start, but he actually finished with two fewer carries than Terrance West, though the latter only racked up 62 yards and didn't get into the end zone. The Browns' backfield situation certainly looks like a timeshare, which will limit Crowell's overall upside, though he appears to be in place to get the first touches. Of note is that his touchdowns came on runs of 11 and 26-yards, so it remains unclear who the goal-line back will be.

Crowell is listed as the Browns' starting running back in advance of Sunday's game against the Falcons, ESPN Cleveland's Tony Grossi reports.
Crowell will look to make an impact in his return to his home state of Atlanta, and as of two hours before kickoff, he's listed over fellow rookie Terrance West on the depth chart. Grossi does note that this could change at a moment's notice, however, as the Cleveland backfield situation has been highly unpredictable leading up to Week 12. The situation got a bit clearer this week with Tuesday's release of Ben Tate, but Crowell will still have to hold off West if he's going to maintain his role as the lead horse. Should Crowell run into ball control issues, or the Browns see a successful drive at the hands of West, the tide could begin to turn. Crowell had nine more carries than West in Week 11, and unless something changes unexpectedly, a similar patter should be anticipated.

Crowell has one less back to compete with in the Cleveland backfield, as the Browns released Ben Tate on Tuesday.
Crowell's value had already been trending upward after leading the Browns with 14 carries and 64 rushing yards Sunday against the Texans, and it just received yet another boost. His main competition will now be fellow rookie Terrance West, who's also seen his share of opportunities to start and take the lead role in games this season. Crowell likely has the slight upper hand for the time being, but a rough week of practice or another lost fumble could change that at a moment's notice.
Mon Nov 17 201419:24Browns' coach Mike Pettine stated Monday that Crowell
Browns' coach Mike Pettine stated Monday that Crowell, along with fellow rookie back Terrance West, both have "explosiveness" and "a little more pop" than former starter Ben Tate, the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.
Crowell led the rushing attack with 14 carries in Sunday's loss to the Texans, and more than doubled the combined output of West and Tate. Pettine has consistently awarded the role of feature back to whoever performs the best in practice, and although it was Crowell this time around, that job may be subject to change on a week-to-week basis. Fumbling concerns may be Crowell's biggest threat, as he's already lost two on the season, including a costly one in the redzone Sunday afternoon. Although Pettine has shown a tendency to bench players who commit repeated miscues, he made an exception and left Crowell in the game. If the undrafted free agent can improve his ball security, he could inch closer to earning the full-time gig, though the situation remains slightly unpredictable until one back distinguishes himself as the lead horse.

Crowell had 14 carries for 61 rushing yards and two catches on four targets for 30 receiving yards Sunday against the Texans.
Crowell got the start Sunday and finished with double the number of carries that Terrence West and Ben Tate got combined. West ran for only 12 yards on his five carries, while Tate lost nine yards on his two rushing attempts, so while Crowell didn't have a great day overall, he certainly outplayed his backfield mates. The Browns have used all three backs as starters this season, though Tate appears to be the one struggling the most of late. If Crowell can keep the starting job in Week 12, he will get an excellent matchup against a Falcons defense allowing the ninth-most rushing yards per game this season, while allowing a league-worst 13 rushing touchdowns.

Crowell will be the Browns' starting running back Sunday against the Texans, Tony Grossi of ESPN Cleveland reports.
Crowell will get an opportunity to lead the rushing attack to begin the game, but a timeshare is the most likely scenario for the Sunday afternoon tilt. Look for Crowell, Ben Tate and Terrance West to all see carries in the contest, after each of them found the endzone in Week 10 against the Bengals. Coach Mike Pettine has been largely unpredictable with his backfield this season, and typically has awarded the starting nod to whichever back has had the best week of practice. It appears that back was Crowell this week, but the fact that he's starting comes with no guarantees, as Pettine will likely roll with the hot hand.
Fri Nov 7 201400:14Isaiah Crowell: Part Of 3-Headed Backfield In Loss
Crowell had 12 carries for 41 yards and a touchdown in Thursday's 24-3 win over the Bengals.
Starter Terrance West had 26 carries for 94 yards and a touchdown, while Ben Tate had 10 carries for 34 yards and a touchdown, with another 27 yards on two receptions. The split was closer than that for most of the game, until West got the vast majority of fourth-quarter carries. Crowell's 12 totes represent his highest total of the season, though he did record exactly 11 in three separate games. He previously had just two touches in Week 8 and none in Week 9. While Thursday's showing boosts Crowell's value, he's unlikely to match the 12 carries next week against the Texans, assuming the Browns stick with their three-headed backfield. West is the best option of the three, as he got the start and the largest share of touches.

Crowell's lack of offensive snaps Sunday against the Buccaneers was not due to any disciplinary reasons, Nate Ulrich of the Akron Beacon Journal reports.
After Crowell logged just three offensive snaps and one carry in Week 8 against the Raiders, head coach Mike Pettine stated that he would like to see the rookie back get more touches moving forward. The exact opposite happened Sunday, however, as Crowell didn't see a single offensive snap. In a surprising turn of events, Terrance West lead the Browns in carries with 15, while presumed starter Ben Tate only mustered three yards on his 10 attempts. It sounds as if Pettine will use each player's practice performance to dictate the carry distribution moving forward, which makes things a bit unpredictable for prospective fantasy owners. At this point, it appears Crowell is trending downward, while West is rising, but this is subject to change in any given week.

Crowell failed to register a single carry or get one pass thrown his way in Sunday's win over the Buccaneers.
Less than one week removed from head coach Mike Pettine saying he wanted to get Crowell more involved in the offense, the rookie running back put up a complete donut while watching Terrance West rush 15 times for 48 yards, and catching a two-yard touchdown pass, and Ben Tate gain three yards on 10 carries. It would be putting it lightly to say the Browns' backfield situation has been fluid this season, but as of right now it looks like West is leading the charge with Tate as the No. 2, which doesn't leave many touches for Crowell.

Browns coach Mike Pettine would like to see Crowell get more touches moving forward, ESPN Cleveland reports.
Crowell received just one carry in Sunday's victory over the Raiders, while starter Ben Tate carried the ball 15 times, followed by Terrance West with seven. However, none of the aforementioned backs were able to average more than two yards per carry, and the team has now collected just 108 yards on the ground over their past two contests. When asked about Crowell's workload Monday, Pettine stated that he planned to give him more carries, but simply felt more comfortable with the ball in Ben Tate's hands as they were attempting to protect a lead. Crowell has only lost one fumble on 52 carries this season, but the staff was apparently more comfortable with the ball handling of their veteran back. Moving forward, Pettine said that the distribution of carries between West and Crowell will boil down to each player's week of practice. West slightly edged out the fellow rookie during the previous week on the practice field, but this will be subject to change over the Browns' final nine games. This isn't what fantasy owners hoping for clarity on the situation would like to hear, as the only sure thing in the Cleveland backfield at the moment is that Tate will lead the charge.
