Crowell had just one carry for one yard in Sunday's 23-13 win over Oakland. He added one catch on his lone target for eight yards.
Crowell surprisingly saw just two touches in a close game, while fellow backup Terrance West had more work, running for 11 yards on seven carries. Starter Ben Tate also didn't do much on a per-play basis, rushing for 26 yards on 15 carries, although he did score a short touchdown late in the fourth quarter. Crowell has arguably been Cleveland's most impressive runner through its first seven games, though he's not seeing a ton of work in a crowded backfield. The undrafted free agent had appeared to have leapfrogged West in the team's pecking order behind Tate, but that was not the case in Sunday's win. It's a messy situation right now, but if you need Crowell next week, he'll face the Bucs, who are near the bottom half of the league in rush defense.

Crowell had seven carries for 18 yards and caught one pass for five yards in Sunday's 24-6 loss at Jacksonville.
Terrance West was active Sunday, after being a healthy scratch in Week 6, so the opportunities weren't as abundant for Crowell. Tate finished with eight yards on five carries, and starter Ben Tate got most of the work, rushing for 36 yards on 16 carries. Based on recent production and usage, Crowell should remain the No. 2 back in Cleveland, but he'll need an injury to Tate in order to make a huge splash. He's got another favorable matchup next week, going against a porous Raiders' rush defense.

Crowell had 11 carries for 77 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 31-10 win over the Steelers.
With Terrance West a healthy inactive, it looks like Crowell has won the backup job behind Ben Tate, who had 25 carries for 78 yards and two touchdowns Sunday. Crowell's score came on a five-yard touchdown run in the second quarter, with Tate's touchdowns coming later in the second quarter and early in the fourth. Tate is the clear starter in Cleveland, but given his injury history, Crowell is one of the more valuable handcuffs in the league.

Crowell is in line to serve as the primary backup to starter Ben Tate on Sunday against the Steelers, as Terrance West will be a healthy scratch according to Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer.
Crowell carried the ball six times for 19 yards in Ben Tate's return to the lineup Week 5, but may see some extra touches with fellow rookie Terrance West out of the mix. Although Tate stands to carry the bulk of the workload, Crowell is the logical option to be next in line, as the undrafted free agent has 160 yards and three touchdowns on the ground so far this season. Glenn Winston would serve as the emergency backup if injury were to strike both Tate and Crowell.
Sun Oct 5 201417:46Crowell had six carries for 19 yards Sunday against Titans
Crowell had six carries for 19 yards Sunday against the Titans.
After getting double-digit carries in Weeks 2 and 3 while splitting time with Terrance West in place of the injured Ben Tate (knee), the latter returned Sunday and dominated the touches, finishing with 22 carries for 123 yards. West finished with 31 yards on seven carries against the Titans, and while head coach Mike Pettine said he may use a loose-committee approach, it's clear that Tate will get a bigger workload, which certainly limits Crowell's fantasy upside as he now splits backup touches with West.

Crowell took the first reps in individual drills during the portion of Wednesday's practice open to the media, the Akron Beacon Journal reports.
Terrance West, who has started the last two games in place of Ben Tate (knee), went second. An undrafted rookie out of Alabama State, Crowell has averaged 5.2 yards per carry on 27 attempts with three touchdowns through three games, and he indicated he's eager to take on a larger role in the offense. Coach Mike Pettine suggested Crowell will get his wish, saying "If a guy's been productive, you find ways to get him on the field more," but Tate is still expected to return to his starting role once healthy. The Browns are on bye in Week 4.

Crowell had 11 carries for 55 yards and a touchdown Sunday against the Ravens.
With Ben Tate sidelined again with a knee injury, Crowell finished with only one fewer carry than starter Terrance West, who produced 19 fewer yards, though he also scored a touchdown. Tate is expected to return after the team's Week 4 bye, which could limit Crowell and West's fantasy potential in Week 5 at the Titans.

Crowell had 11 carries for 54 rushing yards and caught the only ball thrown his way for three receiving yards Sunday against the Saints.
Crowell was a hot name on the waiver wire this past week after his two-touchdown performance in Week 1, but it was (as expected) Terrence West that led the backfield against the Saints in place of the injured Ben Tate (knee). Crowell actually finished with a better YPC than West, but the latter will continue to be the starter for as long as Tate is sidelined.
Wed Sep 10 201413:24Crowell slated to work in complementary role in Week 2's contest
With Terrance West slated to start in place of Ben Tate on Sunday against the Saints, Crowell is slated to work in a complementary role in Week 2's contest, Nate Ulrich of the Akron Beacon Journal reports.
Coach Mike Pettine confirmed Wednesday that Tate will miss some time with a sprained knee, which sets the stage for West and Crowell to handle the team's rushing duties in the meantime. While West appears on track to lead the way Sunday, Crowell -- who recorded five carries for 32 yards and two touchdowns in Week 1 -- figures to see his share of touches as well, thus providing him with Week 2 fantasy utility in deeper formats.
Wed Sep 10 201411:25With Ben Tate reportedly likely to miss 2-4 weeks
With Ben Tate reportedly likely to miss 2-4 weeks, Crowell appears in line to see an expanded role in the Browns' backfield, the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.
While Terrance West, who ended up with 16 carries for 100 yards in Week 1, appears to be next in line for carries with Tate hobbled, Crowell -- who had five carries for 32 yards and two touchdowns this past Sunday -- should see added opportunities in the coming weeks as well. With West typically already rostered in most formats, Crowell is worth a speculative pickup, to see if he able to carve out a larger share of the workload than expected.

Crowell had five carries for 32 yards and two touchdowns Sunday against the Steelers.
Starter Ben Tate suffered a knee injury late in the second quarter and he did not return, opening the door for Crowell and Terrance West. While West got a majority of the touches (16 carries for 100 yards), it was Crowell who found the end zone on rushes of three and 15-yards in the third quarter. The severity of Tate's injury will be determined in the coming days, but if he's forced to miss any time, West will probably become the starter, with Crowell getting his fair share of touches as well.
Sat Aug 30 201413:33Crowell in line to serve as Browns' 3rd running back
With Dion Lewis and Chris Ogbonnaya both released, Crowell is in line to serve as the Browns' No. 3 running back, the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.
Crowell, an undrafted former five-star recruit, was quiet for most of the preseason before exploding for 102 yards and a touchdown on 13 carries in Thursday's finale against the Bears. He'll open the season behind both Ben Tate and Terrance West, but there is some deep league appeal, in light of Tate's injury history and West's poor showing this preseason.

Crowell carried the ball 13 times for 102 yards and a touchdown in Thursday's preseason finale against the Bears.
Crowell had been a name on the roster bubble, as he failed to record a carry in the Browns' penultimate preseason tilt against the Rams. He certainly did nothing to hurt his case for a roster spot Thursday, becoming the Browns' first 100-yard rusher of the preseason. His roster spot is still no guarantee, however, as the Browns will keep Ben Tate and Terrance West as their primary backs, with Chris Ogbonnaya and Dion Lewis seemingly in line to make the team as well. Cleveland will surely try to keep Crowell on the practice squad if they do end up cutting him, but it seems likely he'd be scooped up by another squad looking for help in the backfield.

Crowell appears to be on the Browns' roster bubble in advance of the team's final cut-downs, Nate Ulrich of the Akron Beacon Journal reports.
The report suggests that the jobs of Ben Tate, rookie Terrance West and Dion Lewis appear safe, adding that if Crowell doesn't make the cut, he'd be candidate for the Browns' practice squad, assuming he isn't claimed by another team.

Crowell appears to be the first running back receiving carries in Browns camp following Ben Tate and Terrance West, the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.
Crowell will continue to compete with Edwin Baker, Dion Lewis and Chris Ogbonaya in camp, but as it currently stands, the undrafted free agent appears to have the slight edge. Crowell seems to be the "best runner" out of the aforementioned options, but each member of that group has their own skill that they do particularly well. Even if Crowell holds off the competition to earn a roster spot, he'll still have a tough time earning regular touches behind Tate and West.
Mon Jul 28 201409:36Browns think they have a keeper in Crowell
The Browns reportedly think they have "a keeper" in UDFA RB Isaiah Crowell.
Crowell appears to have a legit shot at sticking on the final roster as a No. 3 back behind Ben Tate and Terrance West. We know he has the talent for it. Crowell was a five-star recruit for Georgia who put up a 185-850-4.6-5 stat line in 2011 as a true freshman.

Wed Jun 11 201408:35Isaiah Crowell back from hamstring tweak
Browns UDFA RB Isaiah Crowell (hamstring) has resumed participating at OTAs.
Crowell ends up missing roughly two weeks with a "tweaked" hammy, valuable time for an undrafted player trying to crack the roster. However, his ability to get back on the field for mandatory sessions is big. Crowell, a former five-star recruit whose NCAA career hit the skids due to off-field concerns, has more than enough talent to crack the final roster behind Ben Tate and Terrance West. His progress will be worth monitoring, especially in Dynasty formats.

Wed May 28 201419:55Isaiah Crowell missing time with injury
Browns UDFA RB Isaiah Crowell is missing time at OTAs with an undisclosed injury.
Crowell worked with a trainer on the side of practice Wednesday. He was a high-profile undrafted rookie signing, but needs to get healthy to claim a roster spot. Ben Tate is penciled in as Cleveland's starter, and the team traded up to draft Terrance West in the third round. Chris Ogbonnaya and Dion Lewis return.
