Taliaferro had 15 carries for 58 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 38-10 win over the Panthers.
Justin Forsett got the start and played most of the snaps, while Taliaferro mostly just relieved the veteran, until getting nine fourth-quarter carries in a blowout. Forsett will likely keep the starting job after putting together a strong game, and it's unclear whether Bernard Pierce (thigh) will also have a role. Though Pierce was active for Sunday's game, he didn't play any snaps, and said afterward that he was held out as a precaution, according to CSN Baltimore's Bo Smolka. The Forsett-Taliaferro combo has been very effective for the Ravens the past two weeks, but Pierce did have 22 carries for 96 yards in a Week 2 win over the Steelers. While his role in the offense remains in limbo, Taliaferro has a reasonably high ceiling, given that the Baltimore offense has been running the ball well, and the rookie is a natural fit for goal-line work.

Taliaferro had 18 carries for 91 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 23-21 win over the Browns.
With Bernard Pierce (thigh) sidelined, Taliaferro and Justin Forsett split the backfield work, with Forsett compiling 63 yards on 11 carries and two yards on four receptions. Taliaferro, a fourth-round rookie out of Coastal Carolina, showed good power and vision in a strong performance. While the rookie seemingly did enough to earn a role in the backfield moving forward, Pierce may be back as soon as next week, and Forsett has been playing well. The Ravens could opt to go with a committee, but coach John Harbaugh said that would be the case in Week 2, when Taliaferro was ultimately the odd man out.

Taliaferro could see more touches Sunday against the Browns with Bernard Pierce out with a thigh injury.
Justin Forsett will get the start ahead of Taliaferro, who has yet to get a single carry this season. That being said, he should see more touches against the Browns, though Forsett is expected to get a majority of them.

Taliaferro did not register a touch in Thursday's 26-6 win over the Steelers.
Ravens coach John Harbaugh suggested that Taliaferro would have a role in Thursday's game, but the Ravens instead went exclusively with Bernard Pierce and Justin Forsett, even after the game was out of hand. While it would be unwise to expect anything out of Taliaferro in the short term, the guys ahead of him are far from world-beaters, though they did get the job done Thursday night.

Though coach John Harbaugh declined to name a starting running back for Thursday's game against the Steelers, he suggested that Taliaferro will have a role in the contest, ESPN.com reports.
When asked who would start the contest, Harbaugh noted, "Bernard Pierce, Justin Forsett -- they'll both play a lot. Lorenzo Taliaferro will be a big part of it, too." At this stage, we'd expect the team's more experienced options to lead the way Thursday, but Taliaferro -- who did not record a carry in Week 1 -- could carve out role in the team's ground game in the coming weeks, if he does well with the snaps that he sees.

Following the release of teammate Ray Rice, Taliaferro has an improved chance to contribute in the Baltimore offense this season
With Rice already suspended for the first two games, Bernard Pierce got the start Sunday against the Bengals, but was then benched after fumbling in the second quarter. Justin Forsett handled nearly every snap from that point on, with Taliaferro logging just three plays, one of which saw him drop a pass. If Pierce re-enters the mix Thursday against the Steelers, Taliaferro may not log a single snap. However, if Pierce is still in the doghouse, Taliaferro could work as Forsett's top backup, possibly even handling a good bit of the early-down work. While it's rather clear that Forsett is ahead of Taliaferro on the depth chart, Forsett's dominance of the second-half Sunday workload may have been partially the result of the game situation. Forsett is smaller, quicker and more experienced, making him a better fit for passing downs.

Though Bernard Pierce was benched after a second-quarter fumble, Taliaferro did not get any carries in Sunday's 23-16 loss to the Bengals.
Justin Forsett handled nearly all of the snaps after Pierce's benching, while Taliaferro played no more than three or four downs, with his only notable activity a dropped pass. It's worth noting that the Ravens were trailing for most of the game, as Forsett's skill set is better suited to playing from behind. Still, even if Pierce doesn't re-enter the equation next week -- which is hardly a given -- Taliaferro will likely work as Forsett's backup, as opposed to any sort of committee situation. If Pierce does re-enter the offense, Taliaferro might not see the field.

Taliaferro and Justin Forsett will likely split touches if Bernard Pierce (concussion) is unable to play in Week 1 against the Bengals, ESPN.com reports.
Forsett looks like the favorite to start in such a scenario, as he sat out Thursday's preseason finale, while Taliaferro ran for 88 yards on 25 carries. As the much bigger player and more powerful runner, Taliaferro would likely still get quite a few carries, including the goal-line work. However, Bernard Pierce (concussion) is expected to play, meaning Taliaferro and Forsett will likely be limited to splitting backup duties.

Taliaferro and Justin Forsett split snaps after Bernard Pierce exited Saturday's preseason game with a possible concussion.
With the Ravens in dress-rehearsal mode for Week 1, the team opted not to play Ray Rice, who is suspended for the first two weeks of the season. Bernard Pierce then left to be evaluated for a concussion, leaving Taliaferro and Justin Forsett to work with the first-team offense. Previously competing for touches behind Pierce for the first two weeks, Taliaferro and Forsett may now have their respective eyes on the starting role. That said, Pierce doesn't have a history of concussions in the NFL, and the nature of his injury hasn't been confirmed. We're also two full weeks away from the Ravens' opener against Cincinnati, which would leave Pierce with plenty of time to recover from a mild concussion. In any case, Forsett outgained Taliaferro in Saturday's game, picking up 30 yards on seven carries, while neither player caught a pass. Taliaferro played well in the first two preseason games, and he could get the starting nod if Pierce's injury turns out to be serious. Forsett would probably handle the third-down work, but Taliaferro would almost certainly be the goal-line back in such a scenario.

Taliaferro had 16 carries for 59 yards and a touchdown and one reception for 10 yards in Saturday's preseason game against the Cowboys.
Taliaferro fumbled, but so did Justin Forsett, who also put one on the ground last week. The two are competing to serve as Bernard Pierce's top backup for the first two weeks of the season while Ray Rice (shoulder) is suspended. Taliaferro has been more impressive thus far, but Forsett is quicker and probably a better receiver, which makes him a more natural complement to Pierce. The Ravens could opt to use both, although Pierce figures to get most of the touches until Rice returns. With both Rice and Pierce looking to rebound from ugly campaigns in 2013, Taliaferro is somewhat interesting, even if there's a good chance that he'll essentially disappear from the offense after Week 2.

Taliaferro rushed for 71 yards on 13 carries in Thursday's preseason opener against the 49ers.
Although he was the fourth running back into Thursday's game, Taliaferro seems to be competing for a role in the offense to open the year. With Ray Rice suspended for the first two weeks of the regular season, Taliaferro and Justin Forsett are jockeying for touches behind presumed starter Bernard Pierce. Those touches may dry up after Week 2, but there's always the potential for injuries, and Taliaferro is on the right track in terms of making an early impression.
Thu Jul 31 201418:38Taliaferro's misdemeanor case dropped
Taliaferro's misdemeanor case has been dropped, the Baltimore Sun reports.
Taliaferro, who was arrested in May on a trio of misdemeanor charges related to public drunkenness, hinted at this outcome last week. In any case, the incident likely wouldn't have been significant enough to warrant discipline from the NFL or team. Though his first headlines with the Ravens were negative, Taliaferro is still expected to compete for touches with Bernard Pierce and Justin Forsett while Ray Rice serves a two-game suspension to start the season. Pierce is the favorite to start and take most of the carries, but the fourth-round rookie out of FCS Coastal Carolina may have an immediate role in the offense.

Lorenzo Taliaferro's misdemeanor destruction of property and public drunkenness case has been dropped by prosecutors.
Taliaferro didn't even have to attend his court hearing Thursday. The fourth-round rookie is competing with Justin Forsett and Cierre Wood for time behind Bernard Pierce and Ray Rice.

Mon Jun 23 201413:24Lorenzo Taliaferro's court date is July 31
Ravens rookie RB Lorenzo Taliaferro's misdemeanor destruction of property and public drunkenness case has been continued to July 31.
Taliaferro's original date was Thursday, but his attorney got a continuance. The downside is Taliaferro may miss some early camp time to deal with his legal matters. Rookies report on July 17, and the Ravens' first full-squad practice is July 24. It's also possible Taliaferro will just send his lawyer, however. Taliaferro is competing for time in Baltimore's up-for-grabs backfield.

Sat May 31 201420:37Ravens have high expectations for Taliaferro
The Ravens still have "high expectations" for fourth-round RB Lorenzo Taliaferro despite his off-field issues.
Taliaferro was arrested for two misdemeanors charges earlier this week, but his status with the Ravens remains unchanged. He's a candidate to open the season in a short-yardage and third-down role if Ray Rice is suspended. Bernard Pierce (shoulder) has been participating in OTAs and is on track to be ready for camp.

Tue May 27 201413:03Ravens rookie RB Taliaferro arrested Saturday
Ravens fourth-round RB Lorenzo Taliaferro was arrested on Saturday in Virginia and charged with destruction of property and public drunkenness.
According to the Williamsburg (VA) PD, Taliaferro was arrested around 1:15 AM. He allegedly was getting out of a taxi cab, gripped one of the windows, and broke it. Taliaferro was later found and arrested a block away from the scene. Both charges are misdemeanors, but it's not a good first impression. Taliaferro could be in line for a prominent early-season role with Ray Rice staring at a suspension.

Fri May 23 201413:16Taliaferro excelling in pass protection
Ravens coach John Harbaugh deemed fourth-round RB Lorenzo Taliaferro "very good at pass protection" following rookie minicamp.
Taliaferro's landing spot offers a lot of opportunity with questions surrounding Ray Rice (off field) and Bernard Pierce (shoulder). Pass pro is typically a major obstacle for rookie running backs. "I thought Lorenzo was very smooth running the ball," Harbaugh said. "He did a nice job picking up the aiming points and the reads. He looks like he is a big guy, a downhill guy. I was very impressed with what kind of shape he is in. There is not an ounce of fat on him, and he is 230 pounds. Very good at pass protection." Taliaferro is worth monitoring in re-draft leagues and drafting in Dynasty settings.
