Sankey had 10 carries for 37 rushing yards and two catches on three targets for 14 receiving yards, but he also lost a fumble during Sunday's 43-24 loss to the Eagles.
Sankey finished with four more carries and 22 more rushing yards than backup Shonn Greene, but his fumble was costly and Greene picked up a two-yard touchdown in the second quarter. Sankey still seems to be the leader for carries, but if he can't hold onto the football, Greene is going to keep chipping away at his touches. Up next is a Week 13 matchup against a Texans defense much better against the run than the pass.

Sankey had 11 carries for 38 yards and a touchdown, adding one reception for seven yards, in Sunday's 27-24 loss to the Steelers.
Sankey impressively broke a bunch of tackles on his nine-yard touchdown scamper, but there otherwise wasn't much room to run, and the Titans had just 39 offensive plays. Sankey's role remained the same as in previous weeks, as he clearly led the Tennessee backfield ahead of Shonn Greene and Dexter McCluster. Greene had just three carries for six yards, while McCluster had one carry for five yards and one reception for 17 yards. After a modest showing against the vulnerable Pittsburgh defense, Sankey will have to face a much more challenging opponent in Philadelphia in Week 12.

Titans coach Ken Whisenhunt said Saturday that Sankey could return kicks in Monday's game against the Steelers, if necessary, John Glennon of The Tennessean reports.
Dexter McCluster and Leon Washington are both questionable, and it seems likely at least one of the two will play. Even if neither suits up, there's no guarantee the Titans will use Sankey on returns, as it would be rather unusual for a team's lead back to serve that role. In the unlikely event Sankey ends up returning kicks, the slight possibility of a return touchdown is a poor trade for the extra fatigue and injury risk, at least in leagues that don't award points for return yards.

Sankey had 17 carries for 58 yards and caught 3-of-3 targets for 19 yards in Sunday's 21-7 loss at Baltimore.
After a first-quarter fumble by Shonn Greene in the end zone, Sankey saw all the work on the ground for Tennessee. Greene finished with just three carries for five yards, and appears to be in Ken Whisenhunt's doghouse, at least for now. Even still, Sankey has been seeing most of the work in the backfield lately anyway, although he hasn't scored a touchdown since Sept. 28. Next week he'll face the Steelers, who have been average against opposing RBs this season.

Sankey had nine carries for 35 rushing yards and four catches on four targets for 25 receiving yards Sunday against the Texans.
The Titans fell behind early and had to give up on the run, so while Sankey's nine carries is a low number, it was eight more than Shonn Greene and seven more than Dexter McCluster. Despite failing to reach 70 total yards in a game this season, with his lone touchdown coming in Week 4 against the Colts, Sankey seems to have taken over the starting job in Tennessee. Unfortunately for fantasy owners, they'll have to wait until Week 10 at the Ravens to see if Sankey can break through for a big outing, as the Titans head out on bye in Week 9.

Sankey will start Sunday against the Texans despite Shonn Greene being active after recovering from a hamstring injury, The Tennessean reports.
Greene has missed the last two games with the injury and was arrested Friday after trying to escape from a parking violation. Sankey was widely expected to be the starter this season until Greene beat him out for the job in the preseason, but if Sankey performs well, he'll hold onto the job. His first test with Greene on the sideline comes against a Texans defense allowing 118.6 rushing yards per game this season, which ranks 20th in the league.

Sankey, starting in place of the injured Shonn Greene (hamstring) had 16 carries for 56 yards Sunday against the Redskins.
Sankey has started the last two games, but has failed to do much to warrant keeping the job whenever Greene is able to return. He's garnered 34 carries in the last two weeks, but has rushed for just 117 yards, a 3.4 YPC average that is below Greene's 4.3 average this season. Greene is still unable to practice, so it's entirely possible that he will not play in Week 8 against the Texans, which would give Sankey one more opportunity to show what he can do before the team's Week 9 bye.

As expected, Shonn Greene (hamstring) will not play Sunday against Washington, leaving Sankey as the Titans' primary ballcarrier.
Sankey had 18 carries as the featured back last week against the Jaguars, and a similar workload seems like a good estimate for Sunday. The downside with Sankey is that Jackie Battle received the goal-line carry last week, and Sankey's upside will be somewhat limited if he is not getting the short-yardage work.
Fri Oct 17 201414:30Sankey will likely be Titans' primary ballcarrier
With Shonn Greene (hamstring) listed as doubtful for Sunday's game against Washington, Sankey will likely be the Titans' primary ballcarrier.
Sankey received 18 carries as the featured back last week against Jacksonville and should be in line for a similar workload on Sunday. The downside, of course, is that Jackie Battle received a goal-line carry that he converted into a touchdown, and if that is the case again against the Redskins, Sankey's upside will be capped.

Sankey, who started in place of the injured Shonn Greene (hamstring), had 18 carries for 61 rushing yards and one catch on one target for seven receiving yards Sunday against the Jaguars.
There were plenty of preseason expectations that Sankey would be the Titans' starter this season, but it took until Week 6 for it to happen and only because of Greene's gimpy hamstring. Regardless of the circumstances, Sankey dominated the touches out of the backfield, ceding two carries to Dexter McCluster, one to Leon Washington and one to fullback Jackie Battle, who vultured a goal-line carry and turned it into a touchdown. Greene wasn't close to playing Sunday, as he was officially ruled doubtful Friday, so it's possible that he could miss time beyond Week 6. If that happens, Sankey should continue to get a majority of the touches out of the backfield in Week 7 at Washington.
Sun Oct 12 201411:40Bishop Sankey: Starting Sunday
Sankey will start Sunday against the Jaguars in place of Shonn Greene, who is inactive with a hamstring injury, according to The Tennessean.
There were high expectations for Sankey coming into the season, but Greene has done all he can to hold off the rookie. But with Greene unable to play Sunday, Sankey gets a great matchup against a Jaguars' defense that is giving up 126.6 rushing yards per game, which is 22nd in the NFL. Dexter McCluster and possibly Leon Washington figure to get touches too, but Sankey has the talent to dominate the touches.

With Shonn Greene officially doubtful for Sunday's game against the Jaguars, Sankey appears to be on track to see added opportunities in the Titans' backfield this weekend, Terry McCormick of ten.247sports.com reports.
Greene leads the Titans with 44 carries through five contests, and in his likely Week 6 absence, look for Sankey (32 carries to date) to head the team's Week 6 rushing attack, with Dexter McCluster in the mix for added touches as well. It's an assignment that would vault the rookie back into fantasy utility while taking aim at a Jags' defense that has allowed an average of 126.6 rushing yards per game to date.

Sankey had eight carries for 27 yards during Sunday's 29-28 loss to the Browns.
Head coach Ken Whisenhunt said earlier this week that Sankey would start to get an increase in reps thanks to his solid play of late, and while his eight carries were two more than he had in Week 4, they were two fewer than his Week 3 total. The Browns led 28-10 at halftime and 28-13 after the third quarter, which should have been a perfect situation to run Sankey as much as possible, but it just didn't happen. Starting running back Shonn Greene didn't perform well, managing only 33 yards on 11 carries, so it's not like Sankey gave way to the hot hand. While fantasy owners continue to be frustrated with the lack of touches, he could be in line for a better game in Week 6 when the Titans face off against a Jaguars team that has been awful against the run and the pass this season.

Coach Ken Whisenhunt indicated Tuesday that Sankey is likely to see added reps at running back Sunday against the Browns, the Tennessean reports. "You will see (more reps for Sankey). That's coming," Whisenhunt noted. "And I think you'll see more of that earlier in the game this week."
The 22 snaps Sankey ended up seeing in Week 4's 41-17 loss to the Colts represented a team-high at running back for the Titans this past Sunday, and it looks like that trend is poised to continue this weekend against the Browns. Sankey has carried 16 times for 95 yards and added three receptions for 32 yards over the last two games, and overall is averaging 5.1 yards on his 24 carries through four contests. In any case, look to see more of him from the get-go Sunday, at the expense of teammates Shonn Greene and Dexter McCluster.

Sankey had six carries for 34 rushing yards and a touchdown, as well as two catches on two targets for 23 receiving yards Sunday against the Colts.
The Titans fell behind early and ended up running the ball with their running backs just 11 times, so while the six carries is a fairly low number, he finished with twice as many as starter Shonn Greene. Despite the low yardage, Sankey was able to score the first touchdown of his career and he seems to be getting closer to a 50-50 timeshare with Greene, with the inevitable thought that he could take over as the starter if the Titans continue to struggle. Next up is a Week 5 matchup against a Browns defense that is 28th in the NFL against the run this season.

Sankey had 10 carries for a team-high 61 rushing yards Sunday against the Bengals.
The Titans trailed for much of the game and the running backs accumulated only 99 rushing yards, though the final rushing stats were boosted by quarterback Jake Locker's 50 yards. Sankey finished with the same number of carries as starter Shonn Greene, but the latter could only turn them into 33 yards. Unfortunately for Sankey owners, it was Greene who got the late goal-line carry, which he turned into a touchdown. The Titans continue to say they'll play the hot hand, which was Sankey on Sunday, but it looks like it'll continue to be a committee approach, which limits everyone's fantasy value.

Sankey had two carries for three yards in Sunday's loss to Dallas.
Tennessee didn't have the ball much, but it's doubtful Sankey would have been involved much anyway. Meanwhile, Shonn Greene and Dexter McCluster combined to carry the ball nine times for 70 yards. For now, it looks like Sankey will need an injury to one of his teammates to make a major splash.
Sun Sep 7 201421:56Sankey had six carries for 25 yards Sunday against Chiefs
Sankey had six carries for 25 yards Sunday against the Chiefs.
Sankey is widely expected to take over the top spot on the depth chart this season, but on Sunday he finished behind Shonn Greene (15) and Dexter McCluster (nine) in carries. There appears to be a committee approach in Tennessee, and Sankey doesn't have the large portion of the pie yet, which obviously limits his fantasy upside.

Sankey is listed as the Titans' No. 2 running back on the team's latest posted depth chart, the Titans' official site reports.
Sankey is thus listed behind Shonn Greene and ahead of Dexter McCluster, for the time being, with Paul Kuharsky of ESPN.com suggesting that the trio figure to be part of a backfield rotation, with their usage out of the gate hinging largely on game-plans and matchups. While the team's posted depth chart would appear to confirm that Sankey has yet to supplant Greene, we suspect that the second-rounder is a candidate to see his responsibilities in the team's offense increase as the season progresses, a scenario that helps maintain his status as the upside fantasy play among the team's running backs.

Sankey gained 43 yards on seven carries and four yards on one reception in Thursday's preseason finale against the Vikings.
While the usage still makes it clear that Sankey is behind Shonn Greene and Dexter McCluster on the depth chart, the rookie turned in a sound performance for the second time in four tries this preseason. With Greene and McCluster both relatively one-dimensional, Sankey is much better positioned than your average No. 3 back. Also helping his cause is the reality that Greene, who is coming off knee surgery, just isn't very good. Sankey figures to have a role in the offense early in the season, and it may not be long before he pushes for a larger share of the workload, possibly even the starting job.
