Sankey had 44 yards and a touchdown on 16 carries in Saturday's preseason game against the Falcons.
Sankey was M.I.A. in the first half but saw no shortage of work after the break. He still hasn't gotten first-team looks this preseason, which may be due to his fumbling issues in practice. Despite the discouraging preseason, Sankey still finds himself in a desirable position for a rookie running back, with only plodding Shonn Greene and pass-catching specialist Dexter McCluster ahead of him on the depth chart. While Greene seems destined for Week 1 starting duties, it may not be long before Sankey makes a push. Greene looked no better than usual Saturday, gaining just 15 yards on six carries.

Sankey gained 31 yards on six carries in Friday's preseason game against the Saints, but he also lost a fumble and didn't catch any passes.
According to John Glennon of The Tennessean, Sankey has had some fumbling problems during training camp. While that's obviously concerning, the rookie is still far more talented than Shonn Greene (knee) and Dexter McCluster, the two backs ahead of him on the depth chart. Whether or not he passes Greene and/or McCluster on the depth chart, Sankey should have some kind of role in the offense early in the season, and could very well emerge as the lead back before the end of the year. Adding to the intrigue, Greene -- who underwent right knee surgery this offseason -- exited Friday's game with an apparent injury to the same knee.

Sankey looked as advertised in Tennessee's preseason opener against Green Bay on Saturday, logging 13 carries for 37 yards and three receptions for 38 yards and a touchdown.
Sankey got more work than any other Titans running back, with Shonn Greene and Dexter McCluster sitting out after the first quarter. It took a while for Sankey to get going once he took the field in the second quarter, but he found his groove in the third quarter and capped off his night with a five-yard touchdown reception. Sankey has the most fantasy potential of any Titans running back and certainly didn't hurt his draft stock with Saturday's performance.

Sankey is listed as the third running back on the Titans' initial depth chart in advance of Saturday's preseason opener against Green Bay, The Tennessean reports.
Sankey is behind both Shonn Greene and Dexter McCluster, with Jim Wyatt of The Tennessean relaying that coach Ken Whisenhunt referenced seniority as the primary factor in the order. The first running back selected in the 2014 NFL draft, we wouldn't read too much into the depth chart as it stands. Sankey still has the most fantasy potential of any back in Tennessee.
Fri Jul 25 201412:55Whiz: Titans still determining Sankey's role
Coach Ken Whisenhunt said Friday the Titans are still in the process of determining rookie Bishop Sankey's role.
Whiz called Sankey a player "we've got to find out about" in terms of his ability to contribute and workload. Sankey's college track record suggests he can indeed handle lots of carries and be a contributor in the pass game, although that doesn't always result in high-volume NFL success. May pro evaluators viewed Sankey as a change-of-pace type coming out of Washington. In Tennessee, he'll try to separate himself from Dexter McCluster and banged-up Shonn Greene.

Sun Jul 20 201412:26Titans plan to employ running back committee
According to the Nashville Tennessean, the Titans "plan on using a running back by committee approach" this season.
Beat writer Jim Wyatt's "thinking" is Bishop Sankey will lead the team in "carries and production," but Dexter McCluster will be ex-Chargers OC Ken Whisenhunt's new Danny Woodhead, and the Titans "want (Shonn) Greene to be their power back in goal-line and short-yardage situations." Wyatt also noted McCluster was an "offseason star" at pre-training camp activities. Most NFL executives viewed Sankey as a rotational back as opposed to a bellcow prior to May's draft. The Titans made him the first running back selected, but he's hardly a lock to handle bellcow work. Sankey's current Average Draft Position is the early fourth round, ahead of Ryan Mathews, Rashad Jennings, Shane Vereen, and Frank Gore.
